“ —- no no, you’re the idiot here natsu. ”
she was going to rip the demon out? now that was a laugh indeed.
he couldn’t be ripped out of lucky. that was impossible. apparently
the slayer didn’t understand what was happening or what any of
this meant. maybe he was wasting his time even trying to make her
understand. maybe he could just kill her. ah, but that wouldn’t be
much fun to end it so quickly now would it.
“ — i am lucky, i am the darkness that is hiding in his heart.
i was created from that darkness, and i’m here to stay. once
you let the darkness out, their is no getting it back in. ”
sure, the human inside him could rise up and gain control of the body.
maybe. but in the demon’s mind their was no way in hell. but even
if it did happen, the demon would always be there. lucky would always
be both human and demon forever. he would always be fighting both
minds. what an awful fate indeed. that’s why it would be better to just
let that side of the mind die out.
though human lucky himself was screaming out to be killed.
he would rather his body destroyed then used for evil. which made
his demon side laugh. what a waste that would be. and no way in hell
he was going to let it happen.
“ — if you hurt me, you hurt the human side too. we are the same. ”
same person, same body. and that would be natsu’s downfall. she was
unable to hurt him, her little heart wouldn’t let him. and though the hu-
man side was screaming to leave her alone it was still dull and he was
still giving up.
“ — i know i can beat you, because you’re afraid to do what
you know you must. even if you could do it, you would never
let me die. because me dying means lucky if gone. ”
at this point, Natsu could barely speak. her throat seemed to be closing and her eyes prickled. oh, she wouldn't DARE cry in front of this monster. no she wouldn't give him that satisfaction. everything he said struck her deeply and it hurt more than anything. constant disbelief ran through her mind, what was she supposed to do? she hadn't felt this hopeless and empty since her father died. it was a cruel thing to know that Lucky was alive, but out of reach.
she wriggled away from his grasp and took a few steps back. their proximity didn't help her issue. again the question of what action she would take crossed her mind. there had to be some spell right? someone out there absolutely had to know what exactly to do. hell, she would track down her 'brother' if she had to. anything, right?
but how would she tell everyone back at the guild? how was she supposed to go on from this point? again, this wasn't like Natsu to feel this way, to feel hopeless. she was so used to giving hope to other people that she didn't know how to give it to herself anymore. unfortunately, at this point, the tears she tried so hard to hold back cascaded down her reddened cheeks.
just give him back to me, to Fairy Tail. ❞
is this what she was reduced to, begging? since when did she beg? she couldn't think of anything else, she wiped away her tears as fast as she could. but when she looked back up at Lucky- or whatever he was, he was blurry. it would be hard to stop them at this point. but Natsu didn't want to hide her face, she stared at him even as the tears created new streaks down her face.
❝ he's STILL gotta be in there right?
her last question was directed towards her former friend, but it was more to herself, a coping method. Natsu had no hopes on him actually replying, was he even alive in there? what if he was already dead?
