Guerrilla Gardening

Guerrilla Gardening is the act of illegally gardening in spaces that are not technically yours to garden, to make subversive statements, protests, or as a form of direct action. The idea goes all the way back to 1973!

In other words, guerrilla gardeners take unloved or neglected land and assign it a new purpose – to make things pretty or useful. Cities are full of waste land and unused public spaces which people walk past every day without noticing. Spaces which would look a lot better if they were green!

Some guerrilla gardeners prefer to work at night when they can be more discreet. Others are activists who’ll do so in broad daylight, when everyone can see what they’re doing. Some choose to grow flowers to make places brighter. Others choose to grow fruit or vegetables (though care should be taken not to grow anything edible in places where plants might absorb toxins).

I don’t know why I haven’t posted any guerrilla gardening things on this blog yet, and I think I should change that.

Possible (and incomplete) list of things to keep in mind

1. Does it get it the way of paths or walkways? Consider what it would be like for someone walking, or with a wheelchair, stroller, white cane…

2. Check the species isn’t invasive in your area. If you’re in north america here’s a useful wikipedia page 

3. Try to avoid plants that have allergenic pollen. Here’s another list of plants to avoid

4. You might want to avoid poisonous plants. Of course, a lot of plants are poisonous in large quantities so this isn’t always of the utmost priority to completely avoid all of them. Here’s another list. 

5. Does the block access to or view of important information? For example, can people still read directions or access water fountains? Consider people at all different heights from little kids to tall people. 

Even while writing that, I was thinking about writing out some advice about how to be responsible about this, but it was late and I was tired. This is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind!

I made more printables!! In this case, it is a Spell Worksheet set. In most cases, it is best if, when making spells, you take your time and think them out. For each item or step included, you must think, why? Once the spell is done and you receive results, it is equally if not more important to reflect on them. This is one of the best ways you can learn what works and doesn’t work, thus, helping your growth as a witch.

Hey guys, I was browsing around on YouTube and came across the channel US Skull Hunter. Thought his videos about skull cleaning were useful and worth sharing over on here. He shows how he does it, he does multiple skulls with slightly different variations so you can get a full idea of how each method works, shows the end product, talks about the pros and cons, doesn’t use any bad methods like bleach-bleaching or boiling skulls, and all of the videos are well made and well edited. Context: The party is at the tail end of a boss fight against kobolds and a drake, only one kobold left. He’s been focusing on me, the warlock, who trapped him in cloud of daggers, hexed him, and then managed to avoid a spear attack. The DM is already mad because the drake was taken down in about two turns by the sorcerer and the ranger doing insane damage. 

DM: What’re you going to do? 

Bard: She’s going to cast Eldritch Strike, that’s like her move. [all of the party agrees]

DM: All right, make your strike attack—

Warlock: Actually, I’m going to cast Vicious Mockery on him. 

DM:….Sure. You cast Vicious Mockery on him. And he *rolls saving throw; sighs* fails his save. What’s the damage? 

Warlock: *rolls for damage including the hex* 10. And I want the mockery to be that he doesn’t even deserve the time it would take to waste a real spell on him. 

DM: ….He just… He hears your words, and looks around the room at his dead allies, the spear he broke trying to kill you, looks down at the dagger wounds all over his body and drops dead, the last words he hears in life: “You’re just not worth it.” 

[My baby cousin is 9, and decided over christmas that he’s big enough to progress from the Hero’s Quest board game to proper roleplay. So I build him a wizard because he wants to shoot spells and enlist my brothers to play tank and healer, and set up a little campaign for them]

Me: The elf woman has asked you to deliver this package to Gullsport, which is a famous trading port. It’s too far to walk, so you have a couple of options. There’s a train, or you could travel with a cart cara-

Cousin The Wizard: I jump on the train from a tree while its driving past.

Me: You will have to make a couple of acrobatics rolls for that, are you sure?

Me: You’re now the only member of your party on the train, standing on the roof of the third cabin. But when you go inside, you find that you’ve landed on the dining cabin during lunch and Every Single Person is staring at you. The conductor stands up straight and says - 

Cousin The Chaotic-aligned Wizard: I blast him with magic missile. *rolls*

Me: …Says “Ooph” and he’s promptly blasted back into one of the tables from your spell. Every OTHER person in the car stands up and starts drawing their weapons -

Cousin The Chaotic-aligned Wizard: I run through all the cars and up to the engine.

[He then somehow rolls high on every opposition I put between him and there]

Me: The train driver peers his head out of the cabin, looking flustered and confused, and says, “What’s all the commotion? Where’s Paul the Conductor?”

Cousin the Chaotic-aligned Wizard: I blast him which magic missile as well, and then throw him off the train.

Me: Are you sure?

Cousin the Chaotic-aligned Wizard: Yes. And I lock the cabin door behind me.

Me: …You’re now on the front of a runaway train, with a whole heap of buttons and strange levers you don’t know how to use. There’s furious pounding on the door behind you.

Cousin the Chaotic-aligned Wizard: I’m going to use my magic to blow up the train. And cast the shield spell to protect myself.

Me: That will kill everyone on this train. There are twenty people here, ignoring the man you already threw off.

Cousin the Chaotic Evil Wizard: Good.

[He succeeded in blowing up the train, failed his shield spell, and died in a horrible explosion]
