speaking of possessive, i wanted to thank you for putting a character like Lu into a polyam. most people don't seem to think characters that are openly possessive are capable of being in anything but monogamy. i know you have no plans on revealing who the second partner is any time soon, but is it okay to still what if questions from lu's perspective? like 'how does lu plan for a date for two partners' or 'how do they react to being told ilu repeatedly by two partners'?
Yeah! I mean, I do get where the confusion comes from, in some ways. Lu's possessiveness, especially in the beginning, is pretty problematic. It's like, the antithesis to polyam. They definitely don't enter that dynamic perfectly adjusted. They still have things to unlearn, boundaries to respect, and insecurities to work through.
And yes! You can ask general poly questions specific to Lu and MC. I'm happy to answer them as long as they're not too spoiler-y 😊
I just had to ask a man to buy pads and it got me thinking, how are the men in the cast (+ marcus if I can be cheeky??) handling that?
Dmitry: Asks you twice what kind before he leaves. Texts you on the way there to double-check. Sends a picture from the aisle because he still needs to be completely sure he's grabbing the right one.
Jong-woo: Comes back with several different kinds because he couldn't decide which one was best. "This one says it's good for sleeping. Oh! And these are thinner. I think these are regular? There were so many brands. I didn't know which one you liked, so I got two."
Luca: Runs a hand through his hair like you've just given him a mildly stressful side quest, but goes without complaint. Ten minutes later, you get a text: "Why are there so many kinds. And brands." After another few minutes: "Fuck it. I bought them all."
Makai: He's observant enough that he's already noticed what brand and type you usually keep around. He goes without fuss and comes back with exactly what you need, no confirmation required.
Santiago: He's got three younger sisters, so none of this is remotely unfamiliar territory. He'll still ask what brand and type you prefer, though, because knowing what pads are doesn't mean knowing which ones you want. Once he knows, he'll remember it.
And Marcus, because I'm feeling generous lol: He has sole custody of his daughter, Melody. Pads, tampons, painkillers, heating pads, emergency runs to the store--he's been through all of it. You could send him give him the vaguest description imaginable and he'd still come back with the right thing (along with your favorite snack 😊)

Anjali: Side-eyes you for an uncomfortable amount of time. "Are you taking the piss? What's that for?" If you shrug it off, she takes the drink back and wipes the straw herself before taking another sip. Petty recognizes petty.
Dmitry: His smile falters. He subtly checks his breath, then his teeth in the reflection of his phone, trying to figure out what exactly warranted that reaction. When he can't find anything, he settles back in his seat and gets noticeably more reserved. You're going to have to tell him it's a prank before he spends the next hour wondering if you secretly think he's a disgusting troll.
Jong-woo: Stares at you with his mouth hanging open. "Ah, wae???" He takes the drink back, looks at the straw, then at you again like you've betrayed him. "What did I do?" The second you admit it's a prank, he's whining even louder because emotional damages have occurred.
Kailee: Her brows shoot up, mouth falling open in disbelief. "Uh, excuse you?" She points at the straw. "This better be one of those stupid pranks or I'm never kissing you again." She figures it out pretty quickly, but not before making you sweat a little.
Kalea: She watches you wipe the straw, and the confusion on her face slowly gives way to a pout. She tries to let it go, but it's hard. Eventually, she looks over and quietly asks, "...Why'd you do that?" Her voice is wobbly enough that you're confessing immediately unless you're a monster.
Linden: They watch you with mild confusion. "Sorry, do you not want to share drinks anymore?" They aren't offended so much as trying to understand what changed. "That's fine, I just wish you'd tell me." Once you explain the prank, they stare at you for a long while. "That wasn't very funny." You may disagree. They do not.
Lu: "The hell'd you do that for?" Their eyes narrow when you try to play innocent. "What? You don't like my spit anymore?" They lean closer, thoroughly unimpressed. "You weren't complaining when I had my tongue in your mouth this morning."
Makai: He squints at the straw, then at you. "Did you just wipe that off?" You deny it badly. His eyes narrow further. "Baby. I watched you do it." He doesn't look hurt so much as deeply suspicious of whatever nonsense you're attempting. Once you crack, he just shakes his head. "You're annoying."
Marcel: "Qu'est-ce que c'est? Hein? Pourquoi?" They take the drink straight back, lick the entire straw from top to bottom, and hand it to you again with a huff. If you wipe it a second time, they lean across the table and drag their tongue up the side of your face. You started this. They'll finish it.
Misty: "Hey, what?" She snatches the drink back and inspects the straw. "You don't wanna share cooties anymore?" If you keep the prank going, she starts wiping down everything you've touched in exaggerated disgust. "Actually, yeah. Don't touch my stuff either. Nasty."
Santi Their brows pull together as they watch you wipe the straw. "Mi amor. What's this?" You insist it's nothing. "Mm-hm. So you kiss me, but sharing a straw is where you draw the line?" They're teasing, but there's just enough uncertainty underneath it that they keep watching your face for the answer. Once you break and tell them it's a prank, they groan and shove the drink back at you. "You're lucky you're cute."

Honestly, that MC could probably romance anyone 😭
If you want someone who would appreciate that gentleness and return it, I'd look at Kalea, Dmitry, or Linden. If you want that patience to be tested, Anjali, Lu, or Santi could make for a really interesting dynamic.
But if I had to pick one, it'd be Makai. A Linden-like MC would give him the space and consistency he needs without pushing, while Dmitry's patience would help when he retreats into himself.
The latest, L-bombing ask getting answered has done things to me 🫠

If it was justified: She'll argue her side first, but once she's had time to admit you were right, she'll apologize directly. It may sound slightly begrudging, but she'll be clear about what she did wrong.
If it wasn't justified: She's ignoring you until you sort yourself out.
Dmitry
If it was justified: He'll give you space to cool down, then apologize sincerely. He may make your favorite meal or take you somewhere nice afterward, not to buy forgiveness, but because caring for people is how he reconnects.
If it wasn't justified: He'll say he's going for a run so you both have time to calm down. When he gets back, he'll want to talk about what happened and won't let you brush it aside.
Jong-woo
If it was justified: He gets mopey because he feels guilty but doesn't know how to approach you. He'll send a text, even if you're in the same room: "Are you still mad at me? I'm really, really sorry…can I come over there? 😢" If you say yes, he's across the room immediately, wrapping himself around you in the biggest hug he can manage and apologizing into your shoulder all over again.
If it wasn't justified: He retreats and gets unusually subdued for the rest of the day. You may be able to lure him back out with food, but you'll still need to apologize and reassure him that he won't be treated that way whenever you're upset.
Kailee
If it was justified: It will likely turn into a shouting match first because Kailee hates feeling accused and tends to defend herself before she fully processes what happened. Once she calms down, she'll come back on her own and give a genuine apology without excuses. After the apology, she'll want to settle on what needs to change so the same argument doesn't happen again. She isn't interested in repeatedly apologizing for the same issue.
If it wasn't justified: Similar beginning: shouting match, storming off. The difference is that she won't return until you've proven you found sense.
Kalea
If it was justified: She feels awful and starts apologizing so quickly that you may have to slow her down long enough to actually discuss it. Once you accept her apology, she'll cling to you for a while, still checking that you're really okay and trying to do small things for you for the rest of the day.
If it wasn't justified: She'll still apologize, even while she's crying and doesn't fully understand why. Her first instinct is to assume she upset you somehow and try to fix it.
Linden
If it was justified: They take a few calming breaths, apologize for what they actually did, and ask to talk it through right away. They want to understand what went wrong so they don't repeat it. The conversation itself is how they make it up. They'll listen, agree on what should happen differently, and follow through afterward.
If it wasn't justified: They'll let you feel angry, but they won't accept being used as somewhere to put that anger. "You can be upset. You can't speak to me like that." They'll expect you to take responsibility before you work through it together.
Lu
If it was justified: They're not apologizing! Not verbally, at least, and certainly not right away. After arguing with you, they'll leave for a few hours. When they return, it'll be with a gift or meal as their first attempt at making peace. If you refuse to let the gesture replace an actual apology, Lu will eventually mutter one.
If it wasn't justified: They're arguing back and leaving before things escalate further. If you call or text, they'll either ignore you or respond with a middle finger emoji.
Makai
If it was justified: He'll disappear into another room for a while to collect his thoughts. When he returns, he'll apologize plainly and specifically, though he may not want to dig much deeper into the emotions behind it right away. Once he's apologized, he'll quietly resume whatever shared routine was interrupted--bringing you a drink, sitting beside you, continuing dinner. He isn't likely to stage a grand reconciliation.
If it wasn't justified: He'll sit there and watch you for a few seconds to see if you hear yourself. If you keep going, he'll grab a book or leave the room entirely. He won't resume normal conversation until you apologize.
Marcel
If it was justified: Their first instinct is to charm their way out of trouble. They get pouty, clingy, practically begging you to forgive them. You may have to insist on an actual apology beneath all the affection.
If it wasn't justified: They're genuinely surprised by your audacity. They might laugh in disbelief before ignoring you and carrying on with their day. They hate apologies; acknowledge the mistake and do better.
Misty
If it was justified: She blows out a breath, accepts her fault, and apologizes without making a big production out of it. "Yeah, I was being an idiot. I'm sorry, okay?" Afterward, she'll ask what you want to do now. For her, making up means not dragging the tension through the entire day.
If it wasn't justified: She's not going to spend all day fighting about it. She'll give you space and check back later with something closer to, "Are you done being weird?" She still expects an apology before everything returns to normal.
Santi
If it was justified: Being the one at fault feels strange and uncomfortable, so they may leave before their defensiveness gets worse. They won't stay gone long. When they return, they'll apologize for exactly what they did and explain how they intend to handle it differently. They won't compensate with gifts or excessive affection. The important part is that their apology is specific and their behavior actually changes.
If it wasn't justified: They're leaving the situation immediately. Being spoken to aggressively can hit too close to old patterns, and they won't stand there trying to appease you. One incident leads to a serious conversation about boundaries. If it becomes a pattern, they're leaving for good.

I'm so surprised - I don't think anyone's asked this question before! You can see their preferred pet names for MC in various scenario answers, but I'll lay it out:
Anjali: She doesn't really like being called pet names, but she'll call MC darling
Dmitry: He doesn't mind if MC gives him a pet name nor does he care what it is (so long as it's nothing silly, like schmoopie poo or something 😭) He won't call MC anything other than their name.
Jong-woo: He loves pet names! Call him anything you want. He'll usually call MC jagiya (honey/babe) or gomdori (teddy bear)
Kailee: She'll accept classics like babe, baby, honey, etc. She'll call MC honey.
Kalea: She likes pet names and doesn't have a preference. She'll call MC sweetheart or sweetie and ku'uipo in Hawaiian (sweetheart/beloved)
Linden: They'll only accept something like love or something unique to them. I've mentioned before, they prefer using MC's name, but they sometimes like giving special names to MC based on their characteristics (like sugar rush for energetic MCs, sunbeam for sweet, cheerful MCs, honeycrisp for MCs that love apples, birdsong for MCs who randomly hum, etc.)
Lu: Similarly to Dmitry, they don't mind much what you call them so long as it's not ridiculous. They call MC gorgeous.
Makai: He likes the classics like sweetie, love, babe, etc. He calls MC baby.
Marcel: If you're going to call them a pet name, it better be creative and show how much you love them, otherwise don't bother lol. Early dating, they call MC mon chou and then deeper/more established relationship gets mon coeur
Misty: She's not big on pet names, but she'll call MC babe.
Santi: They love anything. Sweet, silly, loving - they don't mind. They call MC mi vida or mi amor

What aspects of the game will the personality lock-in affect? If you have a mix of traits, do you “lose” the traits that don’t match the archetype you end up with? For example, is it possible to have an MC that is a stubborn golden retriever, or an easygoing black cat? Thanks!

I wouldn't say there's a specific personality "lock-in." The golden retriever/black cat dynamic would only come up in certain relationship scenarios, while MC's overall personality throughout the game remains fluid.
Most of the time, I use individual personality stats depending on the context of the scene. MC's reaction might be pulled from several different options based on whichever thresholds they currently meet, rather than the game assigning them one fixed personality and sticking to it.
For example, in chapter one, when MC listens in on or interrupts Kailee and Makai before the first ceremony, there are 4-5 possible reactions to Cody in each branch. If your MC meets the thresholds for more than one of those reactions, the game can randomly choose between them. That means the same MC could react differently across playthroughs while still staying consistent with the traits you've built for them.
There may also be moments where another character notices that MC is acting differently from their usual pattern, like a typically impulsive MC suddenly choosing to be cautious.
So yes, you could have an easygoing black cat or a stubborn golden retriever. The archetype is based on the combined total of several stats, but those individual stats are still tracked separately. An easygoing black cat would just need to lean strongly enough toward the other black cat traits to meet the overall threshold. Then, when a scene calls for an easygoing or stubborn reaction, the game would check that specific stat instead!
