gosh whomst to talk about here?

okay, something obvious, because it's interesting how much we know about Arch's skeletons but Fitz' continue to be hinted at. Arch's reasons for being on St Pierre are unpacked in s1 and then in s2 her desire to keep this secret is supported by Fitz.

now in s2 we're also given a little more context on Fitz' guilt after he was undercover. we know he was considered crooked after he returned home and that something caused him so much guilt that he started sleepwalking and imploded his marriage. in s2 then we're introduced to Jenny, his ex-partner, and we learn that he cheated on Meredith with her whilst he was undercover (loneliness? desperation? needing some comfort in a bad situation?) and that Jenny at the very least put words out to the effect that he was not to be trusted

but i still think there's more to it. we know very little about what he was meant to be doing undercover/who he was trying to take down and how they might feel about his having been there

Give us the Fitz secrets, Hawco. Give us all the secrets!!!!

About the hotel thing. You would be surprised how quickly someone can adjust to living in a small cozy space. Source: Knew some people who lived in hotel for a bit.

(Also, we are talking about a guy who has a daily schedule so strict, his stalker noted it once, at the top of a single page in his notebook. Personally, I think Fitz enjoys the predictability of hotel living, and finds comfort in it.)

Ahhh the grumpy French cop and her lost Newfoundland dog I mean. Arch and Fitz.

There is just something about these two. In the production interviews, you can clearly see just how much Hawco and Jobert admire and respect each other, and it comes through with Fitz and Arch.

Even after only knowing Fitz for approximately 10 minutes, Arch is already defending him (despite her low opinion of him), getting Fitz to talk about his issues, and within days is giving him a nickname. Fitzie. (Admit it Fitzie, you love it as much as we do!)

He is a Total Foster Fail. Wait, who said that???

When we first meet Fitz, I was a bit unsure. Yeah, I love Hawco, but this is a new guy! Then he meets Arch who gets right to work poking holes in him and yep, I became a Fitz fan. He is just so done with his own shit (just like everyone else), and fully intends to both hide away + do his best. The hide away part of the plan soon abandoned as Fitz fully embraces Saint-Pierre's people. (Though not the road signs. Those still confuse him. He needs his Designated Passenger Seat Driver Arch to guide him)

Arch I fell in love with right away. She's in a world of men, she's clearly fought her way to the top in Paris, and given the recognition she deserves under Chief Marcus. I love that she's not afraid to bend the rules or bluff a warrant (very daring, that). Don't underestimate this woman, or you will end up with knife in your foot and a gun in your face.

If anything, I adore these two even more now that season two as aired. Fitz/Arch are such a Do Not Separate set, even a famous murderer thinks so!

My favourite thing about their relationship is that it isn't romantic. They are friends and partners first. "You go down, I go down. That's how it works. Trust me." And of course, I must mention Fitz's little Protec Fren Guard Dog Mode when a certain suitor appears in Arch's life. He is Lies Awake At Night confused by it, so adorable.

In conclusion, these two gifs are the same.

Fitz & Arch (bonded pair, do not separate)

I'll just go ahead and mention the obvious thing, which is that Fitz is Arch's rescue dog, somewhat canonically. @gjdraws has a very fun gifset of the parallels between the scrappy dog in episode one (who does not speak French) and Fitz arriving. the fates look at this running-towards-a-cliff woman/cheetah and go "ok let's get you a therapy terrier, a bit chewed on by life but still serviceable"

i also enjoy all of the leading/following going on, which is presented as very conscious choices on Fitz's part to show his respect for her authority which um. yknow. yay. hot. at first you can see him showing her his belly in a "not a threat" kind of way and how she gradually lets down her guard (although she starts liking him sooner than she would like to admit), but after awhile it's also clear that it's simply the comfortable normal for the two of them. also, despite initially not being sure of him, she still gets him those sea-sickness pills, so that "Looking Out For One Another/Thinking About One Another" starts reaaally early on...

Who knew this pastry-munchin love-able Frenchman had such a colourful story?

From knowing how to dive, to customs shenanigans - can spot a forged document a mile off - to surprise, he smoked (smokes?) weed.

And of course his high school days. Look at him. So small!! How could his crush say no to that sweet face??? And he can bake!!

Honestly I just love how Renuf fits the "comic relief side cop" trope, then he turns out to be quite the fella. Renuf is indeed more than he appears, and I hope he continues to get the recognition he deserves from the gang in season 3. I also want to hear more of his superstitions. This guy believes in ghosts, and I wanna know where that came from.

Just. Never again the ending of High School Confidential. You hear me Hawco. NO.

I think a lot about Fouchard s l o w l y encroaching upon Fitz's spaces in Arch's life, in ways that Fitz is sure to get uncomfortable about BUT can't actively get mad about without looking like a jackass. The true first is when he gets blown off for drinks but Fitz doesn't know that he was blown off so:

4 times Fouchard encroached on Fitz's space and 1 time he wasn't there to bother Fitz at all

1️⃣Mr. Dr. Theo presumes being allowed into Arch's spaces, contrasted with Fitz also presuming (at first). But while Fitz backs off immediately, Fouchard is totally okay doing this off the bat.

2️⃣The thing with the coffee—which while small, and reading as an✌️Oops!✌️thing—still chips away at a small thing Fitz & Arch have.

3️⃣ The pattern continues with Fouchard being the "Professional" Read people psychologist guy, at Fitz's place of work for a case even?? What's Fitz gonna do - get mad about it? (and then he gets ditched later for the drinks thing too)

4️⃣ Fouchard doing the cooking thing at Arch's place, and this shot with the reveal being that it wasn't Fitz cooking! Followed by Marcus even going "I thought you said Fitz was gonna be cooking???" (Same, Marcus, same.)

5️⃣ And finally a contrast with Fouchard being forward with Arch earlier: shown by in the finale Fitz being ver careful in response to Arch ("Where would you go to reflect?"). Fitz is waaaaayy more delicate in his reply (about wanting to go to Paris with her) even after knowing Arch better and for a longer time. Arch obv gets what he's trying to ask immediately and says heckyeah beb without missing a beat ;_;

It ends well obv - bc apparently these two dopes are going to have a holiday in PARIS???? pls hawco & ms lord-stafford show us the holiday in paris. I desire desperately the holiday in paris. LOOK AT THEM ORBIT EACH OTHER. LOOK.

Day ZERO - Intros!

Hello! Introduce yourself and tell us: How did you get into Saint-Pierre? Were you a dedicated Hawco / Jobert fan? Was it a friend/mootie yapping constantly about it that got you into this fandom?

I got into Saint-Pierre because it was highly rec'd to me by @gjdraws and @variousqueerthings!! I'm a fan of Paul Gross from Due South and wanted to watch more Paul Gross things, so I watched Caught (another rec from GJ and VQT! thanks for the amazing recs yall seriously!!!) which was my introduction to Allan Hawco! Stayed bc I'm just so charmed by Hawco and also I'm a fan of crime dramas with a lovable ensemble cast! (also i was absolutely THRILLED when PG showed up!!!)
