He is confirmed left handed in Ch.111 when Kitamoto pointed out Tanuma didn’t use his dominant hand.

But you can still find some spots he is left-handed.

once natsume discovers the mysterious person was a yokai after all, he gets even more protective over tanuma.

he clearly doesn’t want tanuma to be taken advantage of, especially by a yokai

tanuma doesnt want natsume to ever feel worried especially if it’s to do with tanuma :/

Their dynamic works so well here, natsume realizes he shouldn’t control what tanuma does and he understands the curiosity that comes along with these sort of things

and they decide natsume will be his “body guard” for as long as this mystery lasts

we get a glimpse into tanuma’s mind here.

he wants to catch up to natsume, and become strong like him. just so nastume doesn’t have to constantly worry about him

here we see more worried natsume and a reappearance of tanuma’s doubts, not wanting natsume to worry about him

once this whole yokai mystery was over, we get this important moment.

natsume pours his heart out to tanuma and reminds him he can come to him for help with anything.

this shows us that their relationship is more than a happy accident shared by two people with connections to the yokai. they’re just two teenage boys who can fully trust and rely on eachother whether it be about yokai or not.

they still have so much to get through, but they have eachother. natsume doesn’t share this type of relationship with anyone else other than tanuma, because they are the only two people who can truly understand eachother.

whether it be platonic or romantic, natsume and tanuma are undoubtedly soulmates

金魚 Goldfish

馬のほかにも、小さい頃から金魚の姿が大好きで、今でも夏に金魚ものが売られているコーナーが出来るとふらふらと撮っていってしまいます。透明な水の向こうにい赤い魚がいるだけでどうしてこんなにアドレナリンが出るんだろうというくらい好きでたまらない頃もおりました。和菓子の透明な寒天の中に魚が泳いでいるものにも身悶えする程弱いです。なぜだ！

その延長ででしょうか沼や池など、緑の中に水があるものも大好きです。

なぜでしょう。

ゼリーみたいに見えるからなのかな。

Aside from horses, I have also loved the image of goldfish ever since I was little. Even now, when the corner selling goldfish things is set up in summer, I find myself unwittingly drawn to it. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder why I like them so much it gets my adrenaline pumping, even though they’re nothing but red fish behind clear water. I’m so weak for the fish swimming through clear agar of wagashi [Japanese sweets], it makes me writhe in agony.

Why!

Perhaps it’s an extension of this, but I also love things like marshes [the numa in Tanuma’s name] and ponds—water surrounded by green.

I wonder why.

Is it because they look like the [wagashi] jelly?

全然関係ありませんが、家の小さな庭には人工の池がありました。大きな石で囲まれた、風呂二つ分くらいの素朴なもので、先人が造ったもののようでした。けれど水の入っていない虚池で、そこに水が張っている姿をよく妄想しておりました。親に頼んで水を入れてもらったことがあるのですが、なぜか水は溜まらず、すぐ虚池にもどってしまいました。石の隙間を埋められないだろうかと、砂と水を混ぜてせっせとセメント（もどき）を作っておりました。欲しかったなぁセメント。

水はないのに蛙や苔が多くて、金魚や鯉が泳ぐ姿を散々妄想した池でした。今もまだそのままです。

This is completely unrelated, but there’s a man-made pond in the little garden at home. It’s a simple basin split into two parts and enclosed by large stones that seems to have been built by the previous owners. But it’s an empty pond with no water in it, and I often have fantasies of it filled with water. I’ve gotten my parents to fill it up for me, but for some reason the water won’t collect and it quickly becomes an empty pond again. I thought perhaps I could fill the cracks in the stone and diligently mixed sand and water to make a (pseudo) cement. Oh, how I wanted cement.
