Could you do ler!doey trying to get lee!giblet to stop telling people he isnt a hero just because hes a bit scared, and giblet being all shy because this is literally DOEY THE DOUGHMAN, his freaking hero

Its quite complicated, I know, you dont have to do it if its too much for you to comfortably do! :)

I wanted to practice drawing Giblet (plus bonus doodle below)

I think this is an adorable ship, even when you excluse EVERYTHING headcanon-wise. The first thing Giblet says about Poppy is that her heart is in the right place, she was just isolated for so long. When Poppy realizes Giblet is here, she asks him what happened to him - so we can assume he was turned "wrongside out" before she got stuck in the case, and Poppy still recognized him. And even when she's processing the fact her face is completely cracked, something that HURT her and most likely is going to become yet another trauma for her, the moment she realizes Giblet is here is to ask what happened to him, as if her face isn't the main worry at that point.

We can see from Amber's Behind The Scenes videos that the original animatic for that scene featured Giblet giving back to Poppy what I assume to either be a fragment of her original face or a cloak that she immediately starts wearing by the next scene, all the while comforting her. We can also see that in the original animatic that Giblet got Poppy inside the train first, then followed soon after, and after the train crash the duo runs together, Giblet guiding Poppy while holding her hand.

All of their interactions together are so gentle and such a stark contrast compared to the rest of the game - heck, I don't think even Poppy and Kissy get this tenderness (which I can blame on the game really hating having more than one girl doing something in a scene /hj)!

And now going into meta territory, both Giblet and Poppy were FUMBLED by the writing when they both have amazing potential as characters. Poppy is SUCH a complex character to handle, and then we have Giblet who's INCREDIBLY simple: A guy who wanted to do the right thing, failed, and now tries to help from time to time but the fear of failing someone he wanted to protect still haunts him. It's really funny how they accidentally "complete" each other. One was too complex to handle, another too simple. Mob still fumbled both by not giving them screentime or good enough characterization. RIP Giblet I bet the fandom would have fallen in love with you if it wasn't for your Marvel ass way of speaking, Mr. "I'm Not A Hero".

Now getting into canon and headcanon/fanom territory, Chapter 5 gave me the impression that they both care a LOT about each other. The pure faith Giblet puts on Poppy while still acknowledging her flaws, and how Poppy immediately switched priorities from her injury to check in on Giblet, the fact they probably haven't seen each other in YEARS. GOSH. AAAARGH.

And dare I say - in another universe, Giblet would be the reason for Poppy to go from the one behind the plans/the mastermind of her group to hopping into action. Yeah, Giblet, maybe you aren't a hero - because maybe you are the distressed person who needs to be saved. Someone to force Poppy to go against her (implicit in game) fear of being physically hurt/injured, and force her to think outside the box. Because at the end she is a small porcelain doll. And Giblet may have a knack for mechanics, but he's barely bigger than Poppy herself. If he's in danger, Poppy can do little about it - or so she thought.

"But what about Kissy being the one to push Poppy towards that?" - excellent question, because to me Kissy is the one that accidentally plants in Poppy the idea that she will eventually have to do things by herself. Not because Kissy does anything mean, but because she got hurt at the end of Chapter 3 and Poppy couldn't do much asides from searching for her, even amongst her panic, and in the end she WAS successful in finding her. But Kissy is big, and if the tea party scene shows us anything, is that she can and WILL throw hands and WIN if necessary. So Poppy will still feel that she can't do anything to protect her, only find her. Thus - throw someone around the same size as her in danger, someone she cares deeply about, and this might be what finally pushes her to take that leap of faith.

Anyways my conclusion is that they're adorable and Giblet should be put in distress so Poppy can go from being kidnapped and robbed of her autonomy to reclaiming her own autonomy to save a friend, and in the process showing said friend that he needs to fight back for his own autonomy as well. She's the main character and Giblet is the manic pixie dream boy that's going to accidentally fix her via the power of being a genuine friend who worries about her but has INCREDIBLE faith on her at the same time. The story writes itself - they write each other just from that few game scenes of them.
