It is the year 990 AC. Earth is dead, a distant memory consumed by darkness and time. Ganymede, one of the largest havens for remaining humans, is ruled undivided by the heinous Jovian Republic… except for a single island and its newly elected ruler.
You are the Sovereign of Natrun, the last free city of Ganymede, having just ascended its wooden throne. You must unite your people against the Republic, face the might of enemy armies, and decide just how much you’re willing to sacrifice.
Walls of Natrun is an interactive fiction project about war, intrigue, romance and ambition. It takes place in the same science-fantasy universe as Saturnine, but tells a far larger story, where the player's choices decide the fate of countless thousands.
Create a character of your chosen gender, race, sexuality, background and motivation
Explore the dark, magical, dangerous world of far future
Navigate the political scene, forging allies and enemies in the fires of war
Romance one (or more) of your loyal advisors
Build and command an army in whatever manner you choose
Decide what you’re willing to sacrifice
Expand Natrun's influence and defend the city at all cost
Protect the elites, guarding their wealth and privilige from the unwashed masses
Become a champion of democracy, manifesting the will of Natrun's people whatever it may be
Liberate the enslaved and uplift the paupers, changing your city for the better
Pursue unlimited power, becoming the absolute monarch you always yearned to be
Or simply burn it all down, sabotaging Natrun from the inside
Victor/Victoria Vorei. A powerful aristocrat, a paragon of social grace and the player's former rival. Courtly romance with a touch of enemies-to-lovers dynamic. Gender selectable.
Sergi the Savant. The Exalted Priest of Natrun, the leader of local clergy and your spiritual advisor. Loves discussing philosophy, baking cakes and holding hands by the fireplace. Has a truly magnificent beard.
Marcia Rupoli. Your loyal Castellan, tasked with enforcing your laws and protecting your life. Very strong, very skilled and very good-looking. Likes strong men, and strong women too.
Farai. A wandering performer whose troupe got stuck in Natrun right before the war. Eager to become your friend, your ally, and perhaps something more. Tall, handsome and just a little dangerous.
Elvira. You elven stylist and confidant, only recently freed from the shackles of slavery. May or may not need a hug. As feminine as a girly girl can get.
The game is currently 363 words long (not counting ChoiceScript code) with three chapters and a prologue available to everyone. Updates are released on a monthly basis. Patreon users receive early access to major updates, as well as exclusive access to bonus material.
Since the story is still in early stages, I will greatly welcome feedback of all kinds. Feel free to ask, comment, react and engage in whatever way you deem suitable.

Two new mini-chapters were added to the game, allowing you to either chase the enemy army as they seek shelter from your wrath, or fight your way through the Lower City as the enemy takes control. Combined, these scenes add 28K words to the game, though which of them you’ll play depends on the choices made earlier in your playthrough.
The next chapter will be a long one, and I doubt I’ll get it finished in August. Still, stay tuned if you’re interested in side content, since I’ll definitely be making another Patreon bonus.
were you already envisioning the setting of this world like this when you wrote saturnine or did you do the worldbuilding for natrun and surroundings later
I actually tried writing Walls of Natrun before I started on Saturnine, I just put the project on hold until last year. In any case, the setting predates both games, I just flesh out the details and make small changes whenever I focus on a specific location, like Natrun or Saturn Nine.
are there any poly relationships and if so, what are they? (sorry if this has been asked, i couldn’t find anything by searching)
You can enter a polycule with Sergi and Marcia in Chapter Six, if you romance both of them. You can also hook up with Elvira and/or one of the optional allies without any of the main ROs taking offense.

I spent the past few days reading through the code script, and I realised I’d missed so many fascinating little scenes. Going through them made me appreciate your character writing even more, and I just wanted to tell you how absolutely amazing your work is.
One thing that genuinely surprised me was that, in some choices, having the MC express they are not attracted to Elvira can actually increase Elvira’s relationship points. I found that really interesting. Likewise, there are moments where having the MC avoid Elvira’s questions isn’t rewarded as much as simply opening up to her. I guess that because Elvira understands deflection very well since she uses it frequently herself.
And I also love the orrery scene. I got the impression that the moment the MC spends an absurd amount of money to buy it, Elvira has already guessed they’re homesick. But instead of confronting them directly, she gradually guides the MC into opening up on their own.
Another tiny detail I absolutely adored was before the villa attack. I discovered that if the MC has very high Education but still falls for Elvira’s lie and says the “medicine” worked, she actually gets extra affection. That interaction was incredibly cute. Little touches like that make the characters feel like real people rather than game mechanics.
The scene that surprised me the most, though, was the one where the MC refuses the intimate scene. Since In most romance games, refusing an intimate scene simply means the scene ends and you move on. Here, refusing actually reveals a different side of Elvira. On the surface she acts completely unfazed, but underneath she’s deeply insecure, and immediately tries to numb herself with Dionian again. Then, right afterwards, the MC says:
“I know what you wanted to say. And yes, I would have freed you no matter what.”
In so many romance games, that would be the moment where the Ro finally opens up and the story goes into an “I can fix her” direction. But Elvira’s response is to retreat even further behind her usual deflection. I loved that so much.
It feels realistic since falling in love doesn’t magically erase someone’s trauma or insecurity. Elvira doesn’t suddenly switch into a “romance version” of herself just because she’s being loved. She remains recognisably the same person, carrying all of those coping mechanisms with her, and that’s exactly what made her feel so real to me.
I ship the MC and Elvira so hard. One of my favourite things about their relationship is the way you write the MC slowly earning their way into Elvira’s heart, helping her believe—little by little—that they truly stand on equal footing. I’m also really curious whether consistently stopping Elvira from taking Dionian in both of those scenes will have consequences later on.
Anyway, sorry it ended up kinda long. I just wanted to say thank you for creating such wonderful character and such a compelling story. I genuinely can’t wait to see this game completed.
In the meantime, you’ve absolutely convinced me to buy Saturnine.
I'm glad you're enjoying my game(s), but don't pay too much attention to stat changes. I am very stupid, and have a lot of variables, so if something looks weird, there's a chance I just wrote %+ instead of %- by accident.
I really really like the way you wrote Elvira. It’s pretty rare to see Ro like this (her insecurity and her slightly self-destructive tendencies dealing with stress). I like the power dynamics between her and sovereign, especially in the intimate scene. It’s one of the few intimate scenes that I like in cog games because it not only feels very in character but also adds to the richness of her personality. The hurt/comfort afterwards is absolutely chef’s kiss. I hope you could write more romance because they are really good!
That's nice to hear. I was actually unsure about that scene (striking a balance between explicit and implicit intimacy is always tricky) so it's good to know someone likes the erratic drug addict elf.
Chapter Seven of the game was just released for general public. In this 49K word scene, you will fight a battle of unprecedented scope, facing the Republic’s might on top of the Great Wall. Your strategic acumen will be tested as you command your army, and the sovereigns skills will be tested against enemy champions.
Here is your reminder that, if you ever get tired of waiting for updates, you can check out my Patreon and see what has been made available ahead of time. I recently published Chapter Seven there, and you can play it right now if you're a paid supporter.
If you don't feel like chipping in, worry not, for I also have bonus content available for free. I posted a short story earlier today, and it's free to download with a single click.
Hey. I was just wondering, in chapter six during the festival, if we go to the library one of the books is called Blue Versus Red. Is this just a reference to Halo? Or is It specifically Rooster Teeth, cuz if its a RvB reference that's pretty amazing.
It's an explicit reference to Red vs Blue. If you choose to read the book, the text basically describes the Blood Gulch Chronicles.

Walls of Natrun just received a 27K word update that advances the story, offers new allies, expands on several romances, adds new achievements and fixes an odd bug or two.
With that, Chapter Six is finally complete, at least in terms of having an official conclusion. I might expand on it later (even though it’s already over 100K words long) but I’ll focus on writing the next chapter for now.
I did have an issue where after receiving the letter from Donatien in chapter 6 there isn't an option to go see him and instead, the normal options for the festival show up. I managed to get him to support my mc if that is relevant.
You're right, I forgot to set a flag that enables the conversation. I'll fix that in literal minutes.
On March 14th, Walls of Natrun received its largest update yet. At 77777 words, it’s the single largest scene I ever wrote for any of my games. Romance, fighting, minigames, strategic decisions and lore drops can all be found in this new scene, focused around the glamorous Hate Week festival.

The Hate Week festival sequence, on which I’ve worked on since Christmas, has been mostly completed. Walls of Natrun is now 50K words longer, owing to a dozen new mini-scenes and several events that advance the narrative forward.
The entire update is available to Patreon users via this post. It will be made public next month, alongside the rest of Chapter Six.
No updates this month. The story is proceeding fine, with exactly 300k words in the current version, it’s just that I’m writing a long sequence composed of nineteen separate mini-scenes. It will take me a couple of weeks to finish, and until March to finish Chapter Six.
Meanwhile, you might want to take a look at this month’s Patreon special. It’s a short game made in Twine, a hybrid of a trivia quiz and a personality test. A way for me to practice other formats, a way for players to see what planet fits them most.
