Thrilled to have two poems in the first print issue of bethh!
NaPoWriMo #17: Poem
There's an earnestness in brackets, surely you've felt it.
Something else that depends on the traffic.
Mail piles up at The School of Professional Studies.
Besides the menacing clouds and no wind.
We didn't write a sonnet this year, but that's OK.
A little dust has settled on my coat sleeve.
NaPoWriMo #16: From the Greek nostos, Meaning Homecoming and algos, Meaning Pain
The marching band practices in the rain.
NaPoWriMo #15: Stomp Clap Yeah
Plato said no poets in the republic, but nothing about the moon. Big mistake. The only geographic marvels to name are craters larger than the largest football stadiums in Europe and those are saved for novelists. Long shadows overlapping in our century. Make due with the emojis we have. In the United States, we've been trying to go to lunch together for five weeks. Our hair is greasy - have you even been outside lately? I don't know how it happened. I wish I didn't know how it happened. I regret what I said in Texas, but I'm not the only one. Our idea of a good time is watching true crime and crossing our arms in disapproval. "How to mount steer horns on a golf cart" was later found in his search history, which if we squinted, we could actually see it.

NaPoWriMo #14: Late August, East of Fargo, North Dakota
-after Thom Tammaro
An unfamiliar highway is the route to the edge of Minnesota. You're already there. The wind is brisk, from further north. I need a jacket and don't know a damn thing.
"There's no group hug"
Honored to be part of Ben's Sunday Poem & Prompt Series!
NaPoWriMo #13: Poem
There's no wing for British things in the British museum, which prompted a slight "heh."
The better surprise was seeing a great line appear, years later.
A dating profile full of portmanteaus.
You're only as honest as your last tattoo.
I sure hope not.
NaPoWriMo #12: Poem
My associations with orange blossoms are long gone.
What's hanging from your rearview mirror and how long has it been there?
You don't hear a lot of heavy metal songs about hockey.
John Ashbery.
I remember my Uncle T. He looked a bit like Bob Kevoian (The Bob & Tom Show). I remember a hockey game on TV at his house and that he drank Miller Lite. He gifted me a fancy pen when I graduated high school. He was my dad's best friend.

NaPoWriMo #11: Poem
I tend not to be in the middle of a beach read.
Boozy plum (affectionate).
Where you keep your necklace is holy.
That's what you tell me, anyway.
If there's a saga in progress, I want no part.
My only plan is sleeping in.
NaPoWriMo #10: Prognosis
A child coughs during the poetry reading.
NaPoWriMo #9: Fly? Yes. Land? No.
A run-on sentence walks into a bar and how that works exactly, I don't know.
Your idea for a gameshow was very clever. It's too bad we live in the times of gesturing vaguely.
Job history via school mascots is another example the ancient Greek mind couldn't imagine.
Thanks a lot, Plato!
I think it means something to keep friends in my Shabbat prayers, so I do it.
Corny? I'm from Indiana, The Cob, as it were.
I would drive right past, too, thinking of a paid vacation.
This is as sincere as I get and even then.
NaPoWriMo #8: Poem
Looking at my weather app, it's colder here than it is where you are, which is getting less and less unusual in our forties.
Waking up early on the weekend (misfortune).
Salty challah at the farmers' market (further misfortune).
I left your poem in the car.
This is not a comment on its quality or my affection for you, but you already knew that.
BOWLING OR ARCHERY Last seasonβs potholes have been replaced with new ones. Old feelings taken out of storage. Nate loves a good duck poe
Grateful to have a poem published earlier this week in Some Words!

NaPoWriMo #7: Late Stage
One search inquiry included the phrase, "axe throwing near me."
NaPoWriMo #6: Having Another "Having 'Having a Coke with You' with You"
You asked me if I knew the poem "Having 'Having a Coke with You' with You" and I said yes I've read it but it's been years. Then we shared a hot dog.
