I insist that one of the MOST overlooked and underrated topics in this game is the fact that Tartaglia IS a child soldier, and WAS shoved into the role in one way or another, be it due to survival or something else.

It's a fact that remains, regardless of how willing he was to the matter later down the line, or how much he thrives on his skills nowadays. He doesn't really openly mourn his childhood nor his situation (on the contrary, he is extremely enthusiastic about it, because combat became his fixation), so it's easy to miss the fact that his introduction to military-level combat a bit too early in his life was Not A Good Thing, no matter how much he's thriving now.

Demise? Ayaks was going to have to be clearer on that, because there's Nod-Krai's dramatic demise with the moons and heresy or whatever, and then there's Sumeru's "every single segment out of the god knows how many dropping dead all of a sudden" also dramatic demi—

"Apple pie?" gets repeated, sudden and monotone, just as dead as all the god knows how many segments dropping flat onto the ground from ages ago. Her eyes stare back blankly, processing the very legitimate-sounding (but also pie?? He made a sweet yummy apple pie and didn't tell her about it????????????????) reasoning like it's a live specimen being dissected in the very air between them - and concludes on a thin frown.

"...Ten apple pies." There is no room for argument or forgiveness.

　Well, technically, if he got ahold of a big baking oven, it would be possible to, at the very least, have it done within 24 hours. And, normally, he would take on the challenge, but this time, he was quite unwilling to see his little sister swallow up to ten whole bags of sugar plus flour plus apples into her system in a single day. He knew what she was capable of.

　"Tell you what: I'll make you three apple pies per week and for a whole month, up to nine pies. And if you have all your work done by then, I'll add the extra final pie. Sounds good? You will have pie every day for a month!" He's spicing the deal up to see if she takes it.
