Adrian Durham Urges Declan Rice to Demand New Deal if Arsenal Fail to Reflect His Value
Adrian Durham has suggested that Declan Rice should reassess his future at Arsenal if the club does not offer him a new contract that properly reflects his importance to the team.
The talkSPORT presenter made แทงบอล7สี the comments following Bukayo Saka’s recent contract extension, which reportedly makes the winger the highest-paid player at the club on around £300,000 per week.
Durham argued that Rice, who joined Arsenal from West Ham United for £105 million in 2023, has become the heartbeat of the Gunners’ midfield. Now entering his third season at the club, the England international has been praised for his consistency, leadership, and relentless work rate — qualities Durham believes are on par with captain Martin Ødegaard.
He suggested that Saka’s new status as the club’s top earner could potentially make Rice feel undervalued, even if the midfielder has not publicly expressed any concerns.
Durham stated that if he were Rice’s agent, he would seek talks with manager Mikel Arteta to clarify the situation and push for improved terms. Should Arsenal fail to meet expectations, he believes Rice should consider a summer move, claiming that several elite European clubs would be willing to offer a substantial salary package.
However, Durham emphasized that he has no issue with Saka’s new contract, insisting the 24-year-old fully deserves it. His point, he explained, is simply that the wage structure situation could impact Rice’s perception of his value at the club.
