I have on numerous occasions been in 18+ fandom spaces for adults, or watched people put restrictions for who engages in their content, and all the fucking time kids lie and bullshit their way through so they can get in those 18+ spaces. I’ve watched kids in the ft comm pitch a fit and make sideblogs to follow adults who are uncomfortable with minors following them because they post graphic NSFW writing or drawing. And worse yet, even when the person they follow mention the blog is NSFW and posts NSFW content, they try to pitch a fit when the inevitable content appears.
I have, on numerous occasions been on a SFW discord room with minors and have the minor begin to start talking about their sex life, and their kinks, and when I or another adult expressed explicit discomfort, they brushed it off because “they were a minor so it’s okay”. I had another kid, when I expressed I didn’t want to talk about Black Sails due to graphic sex and rape scenes early on in the series to them, with them being maybe 16 and all, get openly hostile toward me, calling me condescending and treating them like a child. Also, sure enough, they were a 16 year old constantly talking in the SFW chat about how much they wanted to fuck baras. The mods, because he was one of the server founders, also let him run around the NSFW rooms. I had a 14 year old kid, knowing I was 22 at the time, repeatedly invite me to an NSFW chat they had made for the server we shared (as this server, being a meta-discussion server, had no reason for an NSFW room). It did not matter that I said I was 22, according to them. It did not matter they shouldn’t be modding an NSFW server at all, according to Discord TOS.
Mxrp (formerly known as msparp), had to include age filters and stop minors from RPing in NSFWE because that was an issue they were having. (If I remember correctly, mxrp was having huge issues with minors catfishing adults, but I can’t confirm that, though here is someone discussing it.) And guess what? Minors got angry they were being told they can’t rp smut anymore!
One of the other people on this blog had 2 separate minors attempt to rp smut with them, and got repeatedly pushy – and one even hostile – when he said he wasn’t comfortable and didn’t want to roleplay smut.
On Waterfall, which is brand fucking new, where the site creator made it the age minimum 16+ and reminded minors they can’t post NSFW content until they’re 18 (due to British law), he had minors repeatedly break this and he had to nuke the blog and tighten restrictions.
Maybe the kids who are thankful that apparently us adults, who have repeatedly tried to make our own fucking space where we can post uncomfortable graphic content if we so fucking choose, aren’t the problem children.
…….But boy howdy have I noticed it’s a lot of the same kids who get upset with me not wanting to talk about a rape scene in a rated M TV show about pirates that get upset a small-time content creator might want to write a rape scene about two pirates and have it rated Explicit on AO3. So maybe, just fucking maybe, the adults aren’t the problem here
