here’s the prep stash that my boyfriend makes fun of me for
14 cans of food, a big-ass costco jar of peanut butter, 2 gallons of water, first aid kit, fishing line, matches, tealights, 2 sewing kits, a lighter, a tub of lighter fluid, styrofoam cups and bowls, a mason jar, 2 crystal pepsis, and a book on wilderness survival from 1980 that I’ve read cover to cover.
I explicitly wanted my stash to be big enough so that I could feel I have all my bases covered, but small enough to where it could be easily carried by two people with backpacks.
you never know what could happen, especially in the new world of donald j trump and co. i bought almost all of this shit from the dollar store. if it buys me even just a little peace of mind, it’s worth it.

if we each have a can of food and 5 tableespoons of peanut butter a day, that’s 1000 calories a day, and while that’s a net loss that will no doubt result in you losing weight, it’s still doable. That’s a weeks worth of food. Calorie restriction is a necessity in a survival situation. you should expect to be hungry. Plus, who’s to say I won’t also take whatever happens to be in the pantry/fridge at the time? This is just the food I’ve reserved for emergency. It’s a headstart.
The water is what concerns me more, but if shtf my plan is to go up to Flagstaff. Water flows downhill, going up into the mountains would be your best bet in a desert. Google maps says that even if you take hiking trails, it’s only a 48 hour walk. Walk 12 hours a day, that’s 4 days time to get somewhere smaller and safer than the wasteland that is Phoenix.
If he keeps making fun of my plans though it’ll be two weeks worth of food and I’ll go by my damn self.
