Never Get Tired

This pic (from the higurashi manga if i'm not making a mistake) and the choice of characters makes me insane considering this.

the sentence "Kanon loved Shannon a little too dearly" and the fact that Shion considered that her sister was more attached to her than the other way around. In both situations it leads the most loving one enduring struggle for the other which leads them to their own demise despite not being asked/being pushed out of this initial affection for their own sake. Shion and Shannon encouraging the other to explore beyond their assigned restrictive identity as to pursue love outside their bond. Yet Kanon first thoughts learning about the ceremony were turned towards Shannon, and Mion's guilt over her sister's pain kept clouding their discussions.

Also interesting to consider that both pairs had contrasting yet similar issues. Mion and Shion struggling live as their own person (if only they were born one). Kanon and Shannon desiring humanity which could only happen if one blossoms in spite of the other (if only they could coexist as their own).

Their situation being different is still influenced by dehumanizing titles while serving opposing purposes. Furniture as subhuman and something to transcend to access love, Demon as a superior being still stripping both sisters of their humanity (Mion being assigned a role and a title thrust unpon her separating her from other people, leaving her sister being stigmatized for not having the demon in her).

It's absolutely not a 1:1 but there is still something fascinating about this repeating tale of learning to love oneself and others and duos struggling to define the limits between themself and the other in actuality or metaphorically.
