As we welcome July, I thought I'd take a moment to talk about gratitude.

Gratitude helps us appreciate positive events in our lives when they happen, making them last longer. By being grateful, we restore a balance to our thinking that elevates our moods and prevents negative emotions like resentment, envy, sadness or regret from creeping in.

When we build appreciation for our current circumstances, we feel happier about the present and more optimistic about the future, which improves our mental health and our quality of life. Gratefulness helps us recover from stress more quickly and behave more generously to those around us.

So I invite you to take a couple of minutes aside to think of at least 3 things that you are grateful for each day. You can write them down in a journal, or talk to a friend about them, text them to me or record them in an audio to come back to. You will find with the coming days that your life feels better and fuller when you recall the special things achieved each day.

Start simple. You can be grateful for getting up in the morning, for the nice temperature of the water while you shower, or the delicious meal you are enjoying.

Take a moment to delight in the feeling and breathe it in.

And if you do want to share it with someone, I'll be more than happy to read it because I am very, very grateful to be sharing this adventure with you.
