Please, for a moment, ignore Kurama’s derp face, and instead let’s focus on the book he’s reading: shitsurakuen or, in English, Paradise Lost by John Milton. 

This scene takes place in the Chapter Black Arc of YYH, in the first episode. Now, this book is important because the Chapter Black Arc has some direct parallels to Paradise Lost. 

Paradise Lost essentially follows two stories: the story of Satan and the story of Adam and Eve. 

Satan’s story directly parallel’s Sensui’s: during Paradise Lost, Satan vows to go to the new world that God has created for mankind and poison it and those that live within it. He smooth-talks a few other fallen angels to follow him and help him in this goal— specifically there are seven that are enlisted (one of which is female).

Sensui uses the same tactics to enlist seven psychics to achieve his goal, and is also frequently referred to as a “fallen angel”— one who used to serve God (King Enma), but retaliated against him. Of Sensui’s seven personalities, one is female, and the personalities mimic those of Satan’s followers. 

Also told within Paradise Lost is the story of a battle over Heaven. This , fight breaks out between Satan and his followers, and the faithful followers of God— this battle lasts for three days, the same time frame that Yusuke is given to take down Sensui. 

Sometime later, Adam and Eve reside within the Garden of Eden and that whole business with the snake takes place, the snake being Satan and the fruit of the tree of knowledge representing knowledge of good and evil, similar in theory to the chapter black tape (though it’s a bit different). 

Adam knowingly eats the fruit after Eve does, seeking knowledge about himself and the world at large, and is then banished from Paradise and forced to carry on life in a new world. 

Yusuke, though he doesn’t watch the tape, does become more aware of the blurred line between good and evil, and upon achieving his demon heritage is banished to the demonic realm. 

TL;DR

Satan has seven followers - Sensui has seven followers

Satan seeks to poison the world of mankind - Sensui seeks to poison the world of mankind 

Satan wages war on Heaven for three days - Yusuke has three days to stop Sensui 

Adam is banished from Paradise - Yusuke is banished from the human realm
