tsukiko nakazono / younger sister (dragon age verse)/ fc: hana sugisaki

    tsukiko was born in the dead of night, the moon pale & full. arisu, only six years old at the time of her birth, demanded she would be the first to hold the small child. held her close & whispered a name before anyone had the chance to. an appropriate name, the child thrived the most at night, sneaking around the estate in the dead of night & always getting in trouble for it. much like her sister (whom she always tried to emulate) she was a fearless little thing, never learned her lesson & soon started to hang around the woods surrounding the estate. many times arisu would save her from some wild beast, big or small, to the point arisu soon had to teach her how to fight. tsukiko was never as strong as her sister, but she made do. had to, given the amount of times her sister would need to leave to represent the family in political affairs when their father could not. while her sister used more heavy weapons (such as a warhammer or greatsword), tsukiko had more of an affinity towards a katana. light & simple, perfect for her. 

    when arisu left to join the inquisition, she was extremely saddened by it. she wanted to follow her sister, even thought about running off in the dead of night to join her, but stayed because of the new found responsibility her sister left for her. while she does enjoy the job more than her sister ever did & is even better at it, she still dreams of leaving to be with her regardless. & with the approaching dangers of corypheus, the dream may become a reality soon.

tsukiko ‘tsuki’ mastumoto / younger half-sister (main verse) / fc: aya asahina

    unlike her dragon age counter part, tsukiko matsumoto was not born to itachi & kaida. her mother, himari, was a newer recruit of the nakazono clan during itachi’s patriarchy. she loved the man dearly and he had taken a liking to her as well, though not romantically. he considered her a friend, a confidant, & enjoyed the woman’s company immensely. it was not unlike the two to be alone together, just to talk & drink; bond. but one night the two drank too much, got into more trouble than they ever intended. that was the first & only time the patriarch ever cheated on his wife. he told his wife the very next morning, got on his knees & begged for forgiveness; & although kaida was angry, she appreciated him taking responsibility for his actions. & when they later came to find out himari had fallen pregnant from the affair, they both agreed to take responsibility for the woman & her baby & provided for them both. though for arisu’s sake (as well for optics), the pair decided itachi should not have contact with either. himari moved to ikebukero, where she raised tsuki in a small two bedroom apartment. 

    despite not growing up with her father, tsuki took after him quite a bit. she was a very smart young girl; a polylinguist in even more languages than her father, and wasn’t unknown for occasional swindling. though, unlike her father, her real passion was art; she was almost never seen without her a small journal that she used to sketch with, and loved to fill the apartment walls with her paintings. it comes to no surprise she became an art student at a more prestigious school, one hard to afford were it not for the money itachi provided. though one day in the summer of 2005, the money stopped coming. the young girl was distraught & had no one to turn to, her mother having passed earlier in the year. that was when a certain young matriach showed up at her door, bright eyed & curious about the younger’s existence. 

       “ arisu — ” he swallows, forces a breath through his nose and blinks back blurring vision. he folds his hands in his lap, keeping his fingers from fidgeting with cuff links. it’s a tell, he knows, he always notices it. the way he grits his teeth or tightens his fist. the way he blinks in quick succession and picks at his clothes. nishikiyama could list them, really, all those little self-soothers. and he remembers the way the caretakers at sunflower would remind him to sit still, properly without all those nervous ticks. man, those were simpler days. how did it end up like this ? so he does what he always does. “ i appreciate it […] ” he starts. a breath, he locks his fingers in place to avoid clenching them. “ you don’t have to, you know. i don’t want you to risk your family associating with me these days, worst case scenario. ” and it always is with him. “ not like i got much to offer. ”

    ❝  don’t say that ,  ❞  her breath is heavy , tired .  it hurts her how much he always puts himself down .  she thinks so HIGHLY of him , always has .  hard for her to see him so DEFEATED & not be able to do a thing about it ; only watch as the burden of himself eats him away from the inside ever so slowly .  she can only hope her supports makes it less painful .  hope that the warmth of her hand that she sets hesitantly atop his forearm brings him even a semblance of comfort in his unimaginably difficult situation .   ❝  ya got a lot more to offer than ya think .  ❞

       he blinks at her, always surprised by her persisting kindness. rather, her tolerance. he can’t imagine it, at times, the way arisu thinks fondly of him. what for ? after he’d left her alone. he imagines she should seethe, waving her calloused fists, demanding explanations through fattened tears. and that gnawing voice hums at the back of his mind. and what if this moment is just that ? a fleeting breath, a heart beat. he turns away then, busies himself, fingers toying with simple but striking cufflinks. “ i’m not going anywhere, ” it’s more somber than he intends it, and he swallows the lump in his throat. “ who’s going to keep you in check, right ? ”

    ❝  right …  ❞  she trails off , spacey as her eyes come to focus on his fiddling .  she’s come to know his ticks fairly well .  he’s nervous about something , she ponders , must be .  she couldn’t blame him if he were .  most thought him DEAD now , & she was one of the lucky few who get know the truth .  & despite the amount of trust he’s put in her with this , it’s wavering , isn’t it ?    but she’s used to it .  it comes with the TERRITORY of being friends with nishikiyama .  she’s accepted it .  she’ll accept a lot from those she considers family ; probably more than she should .

a  dozen  lives  lived,  a  dozen  deaths  faced.  immortality  has  painted  her,  striped  a  tiger  amongst  pups.  arrogance  becomes  her,  a  familiar  shade  of  boastful.  what  remains  that  she  cannot  conquer?  the  world  is  her  oyster,  one  she  culls  quite  easily.  surely,  there  have  been  those  who  challenge  her  dominance,  but  what’s  a  king  to  a  god?  ❛ i don’t fear him, you, or anyone for that matter ❜  she  preens,  all  bright  &  brutal,  untamed.  who  dares  to  test  her?  she  will  just  kill  them  all,  watch  them  fall.  she’s  already  a  corpse,  bruised  hands  &  blood  stained  teeth.  if  death  is  not  to  be  feared,  then  what  is?

    shoulders square at the other’s words ; they sound challenging , FORCEFUL .  the fox has never been one to back down from a challenge , be it small or big .  she thrives in the challenge of another , only aim ever was to prove she was more than one could ever bargain for .  this woman , this woman will be no different .
