Dipper doesn’t move– he doesn’t want to move, because god knows what would happen to him if he did. Even if nothing bad were to happen, there was literally nothing he could do to avoid Bill. Well, aside from convincing him away, which… that could go any number of ways, really.
"Why don’t you go bother Gideon or something? I don’t have time for this."
He says it sounding impatient as he can, rifling through his backpack for a flashlight which he tucks under his chin, and a pad of paper and a pen in either hand. Truth be told, he didn’t have much else to do either, but looking busy would eventually make him feel busy enough. That’d definitely make Bill feel unimportant enough to leave him alone, right? So that’s exactly what Dipper does. He takes a seat, cross-legged on the cold cement ground with a notepad in his lap and a flashlight shined at the wall before him. Who knows, maybe he’d eventually figure out what it was supposed to say. It crosses his mind for a minute that Bill might be able to help him, but… no way. We are not doing that again.

It's evident that Bill isn't at all unperturbed by the direction the conversation has steered towards, Dipper's impatience and ob- vious annoyance with him showing as clear as day. He knows damn well it's going to take a whole lot more to even get Bill to budge from this self-imposed goal of bothering the kid to hell and back, but without any other objective in mind at the moment, Bill really is just doing this to get on the Pines boy's nerves.
For a moment, Bill does hold his tongue, at least long enough to observe their immediate surroundings more closely. The s- ights don't take too long to register, either, and Bill relishes the familiarity of having been down this area before. Upon inspec- ting the glyphs further and glancing down towards Dipper's notes, a disembodied chuckle emanates around the two.
❝ C'mon, Pine Tree... I'd be more than happy to help you out in decipherin' these walls. I know you think the last deal was a bust, but cut me some slack here! We're all in the same boat and I'm bored out my mind! ❞
