All good!!

Recently I saw a submission on Reddit about a creative dad, artist and fellow Tumblr user Martin Bruckner (Spaghetti Toes), who makes funny images based on things said to — and by — his 3-year-old daughter.  You may have also seen his work on sites such as The Huffington Post, Yahoo, or BuzzFeed. According to Bruckner on both Behance and his studio site, he’s a graphic designer and illustrator with 35 years in the creative industry.  He’s also taking commissions based on the portfolio of work he provides.

The thing is, when this “creative dad’s” illustrations showed up on Reddit, I instantly recognized some of them were traced.  When I posted about it in the comments, the note was drowned out by fan backlash, accusations of jealousy and (most detrimentally) downvotes so that the comment was hidden.

I wasn’t just making blind accusations, though, you can see just three images of Bruckner’s above that I overlaid with the original artwork.

It’s fine if you don’t like the comment, but the fact remains that the artwork appeared to be traced based on the images posted.  You don’t have to like my opinion that I don’t care for tracers — the internet is full of people with zero concern for creator rights — but even downvoting based on opinion is against Reddit’s fundamental reddiquette.
