Teke-Teke:

The legend of the Teke-Teke was discovered in Japan. The Teke-Teke was a young girl that took her life because of bullying in 1969. She was cut in half by a train. The vengeful spirit was unable to rest and takes out its revenge on those who seems similar to the ones who bullied her. Most people have described Teke-Teke in many ways.

Some have seen her as a nurse or a young girl. Regardless of her origin, the fate of her victims is always the same-they are chased down and cut in half. Teke-Teke received its name from the distinctive sound she makes as she runs on her hand, or at times elbows. A person would be safe by not venturing near train tracks alone at night. The Teke-Teke loves to hunt its prey near the location of her death.

Aswang:

The horror stories of the legend Aswang comes from the Philippines. The Aswang is considered to be a flesh-eating, shapeshifting monster. People describes the Aswang as a woman by day and at night a bird, pig, or a dog. 

Inkanyamba:

The legend of the Inkanyamba comes from South Africa by the Zulu and Xhosa people. The Inkanyamba is an eel-like creature that lives in pools at the base of waterfalls. South Africa tend to through severe thunderstorms and tornados. The flooding is so bad that cars float away. These storm have taken many lives. The Zulu and Xhosa people blame the deadly weather events on the Inkanyamba.

Many people have witness the creature differently. Some sources say it has several heads, others say it has the head of a horse. The only feature that sources were able to point out the same is the giant serpent body. Some say the creature has wings. The creature would fly around searching for its mate.

Adze, the Vampire:

The mythical creature Adze comes from the Ewe folklore in Togo and Ghana. It would originally look like a firefly but, it will transform into a human shape if captured. The reason that the creature disguise itself as a firefly is so they can crawl through keyholes and get inside of houses. When the Adze reaches inside the house, it will drink the victim’s blood. Adze would honestly prefer to have an infant’s blood than a grown adult.

The Adze would use its thumb to draw out blood. Its thumb is like an elephant trunk that stays in firefly form. Being capture angers the Adze. Writer ARJung mentions, “They turn into their hunchback quasi-human state, where they possess great talons and feed upon not only blood, but also the heart and liver of their prey.” The Adze can conjure magic to possess a human being and then use their body to communicate. The victim will eventually become sick and die.  

Wendigo:

Stories of the Wendigo has been going down since the mid-1600s.It all started with a group of Jesuit missionaries. The Jesuit Missionaries travelled to the land of Algonquins. In the land of Algonquin were Native Americans that lived along the forest regions of the Ottawa River. When the group of Jesuit Missionaries arrived in Algonquin, they fell gravely ill.

The Jesuit Missionaries heard that their brethren are in trouble and headed to the land of Algonquins to locate them. When the Jesuit Missionaries arrived they couldn’t believe their eyes. The situation was a lot worse than it seems. As they wrote:

“Those poor men…were seized with an ailment [that] makes them so ravenous for human flesh that they pounce upon women, children, and even upon men, like veritable werewolves, and devour them voraciously, without being able to appease of glut their appetite – ever seeking fresh prey, and the more greedily the more they eat.”

 The Jesuit missionaries that they came to replace, had turned into cannibals. These poor men were possessed by the mythical creature called the Wendigo.

The Wendigos were known to be man-eating monsters that would wander near the Great Lakes. Mark Oliver describe the appearance of the Wendigo, “Their bodies were emaciated, their ribs stuck out through their thin, pale skin, and their eyes were sunk deep down into their sockets.” The Wendigos would look at men as if they were dying from starvation. A Wendigos hunger will never be fulfilled. When a Wendigos takes a bite from a fresh, it will grow much larger. The larger it gets the more hungrier.
