In my experience, the hardest thing to do in life is just be. As humans, we feel the need to do all the time. That is what we heard all our lives - we have to do, we have to achieve, we cannot just be. If we don’t do, we feel like failures. This attitude and thought pattern can lead to a horribly vicious cycle and can infect our lives with unhappiness. What we are doing is setting standards for ourselves; and if we don’t reach these standards, we feel like failures. These standards can come from comparing ourselves to others, who are more successful in our eyes or simply an image of our own selves as we think would be ideal.

This is a very tricky attitude, since it seems like we just want to better ourselves, but in reality what we do is not accept who we are and want to become different people. Read more »>
