Jessamyn, did you know you’re allowed to not be doing ok? Darling, how could you possibly be ok? You are fighting dragons most people would gladly hide from. You swim with sharks who don’t believe you’re worthy of the calories but might eat you anyway just to say they did. You’re not expected to be ok. It’s ok that you’re not ok.
If I’m being honest, the hands and touch and kiss of another person are what I crave because I desperately want to understand myself through the caress of another. Just the graze of a finger to confirm that I can feel something. Because that’s how I’m conditioned- to know myself via the roles I play. The fucking masks. But what happens without the masks and the roles. Eyes open? Heart open? Yes. Yes, that’s it. How do I feel that all of the time, not just some of the time. Oh darling, you don’t feel it all of the time. That’s the gag. Feeling it all of the time is not the point. Maybe you will, maybe you won’t- but are you planning to hit pause until forever comes? Bitch, everything is waves. Everything is nothing. Everything is everything. #yoga
Completely unrelated: “Jessamyn, I know you don’t know me but I saw a fat girl with her thigh meat out on a scooter in downtown Durham the other day- was that you?”
Yeah, that was me.
