Earrings are the hardest thing to package well. Two small objects that want to roll away from each other, with posts that catch on anything soft. A slot cut for a ring will not hold them, and a flat pad lets them slide.

This one has a split pad that grips both pieces, so the pair still looks like a pair when the lid comes up. Small detail, but it is the difference between a customer saying "oh" and saying nothing.

People carry the gift out of your shop in something. That something is the last thing they see of your brand, and often the thing a stranger on the street sees first.

A matte laminated bag does three jobs at once: it looks expensive, it survives rain and a handbag, and it carries a box without the corners bursting through. The cord handle is what separates it from a supermarket bag.

A pouch does things a box can't. It travels without breaking, it costs less than a rigid box, it protects a piece from scratching against itself, and customers genuinely reuse it. Some people keep a pouch in a handbag for years. That is your logo, in their bag, for years.

It's also the easiest way into custom packaging. Low minimums, dozens of colours, and your logo printed or foiled on the front.

Small sizes for rings and earrings, larger ones for chains and bangles. If you're not sure which fits your pieces, ask for samples first.

The old trade-off was real: sustainable packaging used to mean brown, rough and a bit apologetic. Put a €300 necklace in it and something felt off.

Not any more. Recycled kraft with a hot-foiled logo reads as considered, not cheap. Customers who ask whether your packaging is recyclable get a yes, and the bag still looks like it belongs to a brand.

It sounds like a sales question. It isn't. It's the only way to stop you buying the wrong thing.

A box for a pair of stud earrings and a box for a cuff bracelet are not the same object with different measurements. They need different depths, different foam, different opening. Get it wrong and the customer struggles with the lid in front of you, which is the exact opposite of what you paid for.

Some of what changes the answer:

Rings need depth and a slot. Bangles need width and a rigid base so they don't rattle. Long chains need a flat bed or they tangle in transit and arrive looking cheap.

Counter or courier? A box that sits under glass in your shop can be delicate. A box that crosses a country in a mailbag cannot.

Do you gift wrap? If yes, the box has to look good naked, because half your customers will unwrap the paper in the car.

Are you a shop or a stand? Market and fair sellers need packaging that survives a crate, sets up fast, and looks like a brand from two metres away.

So when a supplier asks what you sell, that's a good sign. The ones that don't ask will happily sell you 500 of the wrong box.

It's August. Christmas feels far away. It isn't.

Here is the timeline nobody plans for. You choose your packaging in October, the supplier quotes six to eight weeks, and your boxes land the week the rush is already over. So you sell your best season in whatever was left in the stockroom.

Jewelry is one of the most gifted categories there is. Between November and December a lot of small brands do a third of their year. In that window the box is not a detail. It is the difference between "I bought you something" and "look what I got you."

What to sort now, while there is still time:

Count what you actually used last December, then add a margin. Running out of your nicest box on the 18th is a very specific kind of pain.

Order samples now, decide in September, produce in October. That is the calm version of this.

If you want your logo on them, add time. Foiling and embossing are set-up jobs, not same-day printing.

Don't forget the bag. People carry the gift out of your shop in something, and that something is also your brand.

None of this is urgent today, which is exactly why it gets forgotten until it is.

Most packaging regrets come from the same handful of mistakes. Before you commit to a run, check these.

The inside, not just the outside. A box looks great empty. Then a chunky ring won't let the lid shut, or a fine chain slides around a slot cut for a bangle. Measure your actual pieces, including the thickest one, and match the insert to them.

The minimum order. Some suppliers only quote at 1,000 or 5,000 units. If you're testing a new line, that is dead stock in a cupboard. Ask what the real minimum is before you fall in love with a sample.

How the logo is applied. Printed, hot-foiled and embossed cost different amounts and age differently. Foil looks expensive and stays sharp. Print is cheaper and more flexible for short runs. Neither is wrong, but decide on purpose.

Colour consistency across the range. Your box, pouch and bag should look like they came from the same brand. Card, paper and fabric all take colour differently, so check a physical sample of each, not a screen mockup.

Restock lead time. The box that arrives in ten weeks is useless in December. Ask about repeat-order times before the first order, not after.

Ask any supplier for samples of the ones you are unsure about. A decent one will send them.

For years "sustainable packaging" meant brown, rough and a little bit sad. You had to choose between looking good and doing the right thing.

That trade-off is over.

Our eco ranges use recycled and FSC-certified card, water-based inks and no plastic windows, and they still look right holding a piece worth a few hundred euros. Recycled kraft with a gold foil logo is genuinely beautiful, and customers notice.

Three reasons jewelers are switching now:

Buyers ask about it, especially under 35. "Is this recyclable?" has become a normal question at the counter.

The rules are changing. The EU packaging regulation, the PPWR, starts applying on 12 August 2026. If you sell in the EU, this stops being a preference and becomes paperwork.

It is cheaper than the rebrand you would do later. Switching once, on your own timetable, beats being forced into it mid-season.

Better to move while it is still your decision.

A customer holds your ring for a few seconds before they really look at it. They hold the box for a lot longer.

Three things packaging quietly does for a jewelry brand:

One. It sets the price before the price does. A pendant in a plastic bag and the same pendant in a rigid box with a foil logo are not the same product in the buyer's head. Nothing about the metal changed. The perceived value did.

Two. It outlives the sale. Boxes get kept. Pouches get reused for travel. Your logo sits in someone's drawer for years, quietly reminding them where they bought it. It is the cheapest advertising you will ever pay for.

Three. It makes a gift feel like a gift. Most jewelry is bought for someone else, and the wrapping is not around the present. It is part of the present.

None of this needs a big budget. It needs the right box.
