Run The Jules

We are renovating our house and for the last month, they've worked Monday through Friday.

This morning, two guys I've never met pull up in a private car and say they're here to paint. I keep asking if they're with the contractor and they don't give me a straight answer, which I chalk up to language barrier.

Anyway, its 9am on a Saturday, I was up all night last night on call, and even if these guys are legit, I'm trying to sleep and they can't be in the house this morning. It's the fucking weekend. So I tell them sorry, but we weren't expecting them today so they can't come in.

I text contractor and call my hubs; I'm more than a little flustered when I talk to my husband. But when I tell him I sent them away, he completely didn't get it. I could tell he thought i was being overly cautious. But like, why in God's name would I let two unexpected guys I've never met into the house when I'm home alone?

And it gets better, because while I'm on the phone, the contractor texts back in the middle of our convo that noone was scheduled to come by and he wasn't aware anyone was coming.

There wasn't any malicious intent tho. The fucking painters skipped out early yesterday and thought they could sneak back in today to finish. So fuck them, because now I'm angry that they didn't respect my time.
