CANDY CANE AND RIBBON
summary: Jake comes home to a decked out home for the holidays, with the exception of the tree
paring: Jake Seresin x pregnant wife!reader

Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Jake was exhausted. Every muscle and bone in his body were aching, it felt as though they could give out any minute.
Maverick had put the daggers through hell, trying out new formations and tactics all day long.
The only thing that got him through it all was the thought of spending the rest of the day clinging to you, his very pregnant wife’s side.
Preferably cuddling in bed or maybe on the couch watching a Christmas movie to satisfy your Christmas spirit.
That was all he wanted to do right now.
But as soon as opened the front door and a whiff of grinder bread hit him head on, he knew that was no longer going to happen.
“Darlin’” Jake called out, stepping inside the house. The whole foyer was decked out in green and red.
“I’m in here!” Your voice called back, coming from the kitchen.
Jake made his way there after taking off his boots and dropping his bag near the door.
When he turned into the kitchen he was in shock. Like the rest of the house that he’d seen so far, it was all decked out and a fresh batch of gingerbread cookies were coming on top of the stove. But what really got him was the sight of you standing on the kitchen counter tying bright red bows to the cupboards.
Jake moves behind you, grabbing your hips to lift you back onto soiled ground and turns you around to face him.
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack, women!” He practically scolds you. “What were you thinking standing up that high?”
“I was thinking about how nice our kitchen would look decorated in pretty ribbon,” you say, battering your eyelashes innocently.
You greet him with a kiss, “hi.”
”hi darlin’” he greets back before returning to the matter at hand, “I told you to wait for me to be home to start decorating the whole house.”
“I did wait,” you pause and continue when Jake raises a brow at you, “I waited to decorate the tree with you and putting the lights up outside is all you mister.”
“How nice of you.”
“I know.”
Jake raised a brow again.
Sighing, you admitted, “I would have decorated the tree myself but I wasn’t able to get it down from the attic.”
“I can’t believe you expect to wait all day, you knew how excited I get about decorating for Christmas before we got married,” you tell him, giving him no more reason to try complaining.
He chuckles at your pouty lips, the tone in your voice was obviously hinting to something. With a dramatic sigh he says, “I’ll go get the tree and we can decorate it together. I’ll put up the lights tomorrow.”
“Really?” You cheer, jumping up and down — jumping as well as you can with a very large belly.
“yeah. While I’m getting the tree down, why don’t you make us some hot chocolate??” Jake suggests. At least if tasked on that he’ll know you're not climbing up on furniture.
“Deal.”
After an hour of tree decorating, hot chocolate drinking and the two of you badly singing along to the Christmas carols playing Jake finally got what he’d been waiting for all day.
On the couch facing the tree, you and Jake laid cuddled up with blankets draped over your bodies. Your back was pressed against his front.
Jake’s fingers traced shapes on your stomach and his other arm was falling asleep, being used as a pillow by you under your head.
“This was nice. Even if I only got to decorate the tree with you,” Jake admits.
“It was,” you agree, admiring the evergreen before you.
“And just think, next year we'll have an extra set of little hands to help,” he smiles into your hair, already picturing your future to come.
Screaming! All the ideas that you guys are coming up with for for Lottie, Jake and the Mrs are so cute. Please please please keep them coming

LITTLE RASCAL
summary: the local elementary school is invited to take a tour of the base and one of the little rascals gives away Jake’s biggest secret within seconds
paring: dad!Jake Seresin x (mentioned)mom!reader
Word count: 0.5k
“I want you all on your best behavior. No goofing off,” Maverick reminds the group in front of him, making him feel like he is talking to a classroom full of children instead of grown adults.
He points to Hangman and Rooster, “I’m looking at you two. Don’t go embarrassing me in front of a bunch of third graders. You are to set an example for these kids, am I clean?”
“Yes sir.” They all answer some more happily than others.
Maverick had been repeating the same speech over and over for the past week to get his point across.
Today the local elementary school's third grade was coming on base for a tour to see all the cool planes and understand what it is that they do (the kid friendly version).
To everyone’s surprise, Jake was the most excited out of the whole bunch.
Soon enough a bright yellow school bus loaded with children made it past the base's gates, stopping right in front of the group of pilots.
One by one the kids filled out of the vehicle, all too fascinated with their surroundings to listen to the teachers instructions to stay near the bus.
Suddenly the little blonde that Jake had been keeping an eye out for made herself known. Spitting from the group she charged at Jake, shouting for her daddy.
Out of habit he crouched down, opening his arms wide for his baby girl to throw herself into them. At this moment he couldn’t care less about the other daggers' shocked and confused faces.
“Bagman has a kid?”
“She’s gotta be like eight or nine, right?”
“We would have known if he had a daughter.”
“Totally.”
Jake chuckles at them all whispering to Charlotte, “you ratted me out, you little rascal.”
“Whoops.”
“Whoops is right.” Jake stood up. when he looked around all his teammates were looking him up and down for an explanation and since the little girl just threw him under the bus- “guys, this is my daughter Charlotte.”
now realizing all their attention was on her, Charlotte cowered behind Jake’s leg clinging onto his uniform.
“Holy shit.”
“It’s okay, Lottie,” Jake assures her.
Maverick went over the agenda for the day with the class of third graders and had his crew aviators introduce themselves. The whole time Charlotte stayed by her dads side. When it was finally his turn to introduce himself, Jake introduced himself as her dad.
All the kids' reactions were positive, lots of ’wow’s and ’cool’s were thrown around. Though most memorable reactions to the group were;
“No fair, how come Lottie has two cool parents.”
“Two cool parents? No way, Lottie’s dad is way cooler.”
“No! Mrs Seresin is cooler.”
“No way, her dad flies planes.”
“Just wait until your mother hears about this,” Jake chuckles to his daughter, ready to brag to that some of Lottie’s friends thought he was cooler than you.
“He’s married too, what the fuck.”
“Rooster, what did I say,” Maverick scolds him as the other kids look up at rooster with wide eyes.
“Daddy, the chicken swore.”
Rooster head snapped to Jake, “Bagman, did you train your spawn to call me that!”
TURBULENCE
summary: jake would never get over how ironic it was. You, the wife of a naval pilot, scared of a little turbulence

“Don’t laugh,” you wine at your husband as he chuckles get louder causing the people around to look at him weirdly.
“I’m sorry Darlin’. It’s just a little funny,” Jake is loving how ironic this all is.
“It’s not funny.” He kisses your pouty lips when your grip on his hand gets tighter, “I know honey.”
Currently the two of you were sitting in a commercial plane on your way back to Texas for the holiday. Mid flight a storm picked up causing the plane to catch some turbulence.
It was safe to say you are absolutely terrified of flying, the plane rocking back and forth wasn’t helping and somehow your husband found the situation absolutely hilarious.
How ironic was it that the wife of a commander with two confirmed air combat kills was scared of flying.
Opposites really do attract.
Another wave of turbulence passes and Jake swears by the time they land his hand will be broken with how hard you're squeezing it. Not that he’s complaining.
He may be giggling at current circumstances but he still made sure to hold and comfort you.
“How come you never get this skittish when I’m flying?” Jake asks. He knows the answer, he’s asked the same question before but right now he’s just hoping to distract you.
Whenever you were in the backseat of his plane you were still scared out of your mind but never afraid when you were with him.
“I trust you with my life and I know you’ll never let anything happen to me.”
“That’s right,” Jake agrees. “I’ll never let any danger come to you as long as we both live. So believe me when I tell you there’s nothing to worry about, we’re okay.”
“I believe you.”
“Okay.” He pulls you closer when you let out another whimper at the sudden motion of the plane. Jake plants a peck on your forehead before resting your head under his chin, “shh, I got you.”
YOUR ROOSTER
dabble to long overdue
summary: your daughter, Daphne seems to be having a harder time with Bradley’s deployment then you are
paring: Bradley Bradshaw x wife!reader, mom!reader x oc!daughter
word count: 542
A knock was heard over the noise of the television coming from the front door. In the kitchen you yelled for them to come in already knowing who it was.
“I’m here!” A female voice called out, one that your daughter Daphne recognized instantly.
“Auntie Nat!” She screamed, rushing to greet her with the biggest hug she could give.
It was the middle of the week, originally you had made plans to hangout with Nat while the kids were at school but that morning Daphne woke up feeling ‘sick’.
You knew she was faking but still let her stay home. Bradley had just been deployed to the other side of the world after nearly a year of staying home and teaching on base.
Daphne was taking a lot worse than you hoped she would. The last time Bradley was deployed this long she was still a baby. Since then he’d been gone for two months at most, definitely not seven.
You couldn’t remember the last time you hadn’t woken up at night to your four year old daughter crying out for her daddy since he left.
When you called Nat to cancel she suggested coming over instead saying she had something for Daphne anyways.
By the time you made it to the front door yourself your noise daughter was already questioning the aviator about the bag in her hand.
“Let’s go to the living room and then you can open it,” Nat suggested. Daphne nodded running ahead of you both to the next room.
Along the way you and Nat shared a hug greeting each other.
In the living room Nat joined Daphne on the couch and you sat on the love seat in the corner. Your favorite chair in the whole house that was usually occupied by both you and your husband.
When Nat handed over the blue gift bag Daphne wasted no time pulling all the tissue paper to reveal what was inside.
She gasped, pulling out an adorable stuffed rooster out of the bag, holding it up for you to see.
“It’s a rooster.”
“It is,” Nat agreed. “Do you know why I got you a rooster?”
Daphne shook her head looking down at the stuffed animal in her lap.
“I got you a rooster so whenever your dad is away from you and you miss him you have a little friend to hold and miss him a little less with.”
“So it’ll be like he’s here with me?”
“Well he’s always with you right here,” Nat poked her chest right where her heart is. But now he’s with you even more, physically.”
“Really?” She asked in awe, cuddling the plushy to her chest. Nat nodded.
“Can I name it after daddy?” She turned to you and asked.
You smiled, “of course you can baby.”
“Yay!” Daphne cheered, bolting into mats lap thanking her a thousand times over for her gift.
“No problem, ducky.”
When you caught Nat’s eye you mounted a ‘thank you’ with silent tears bottled up in your eyes to which she nodded.
That night when you tucked Daphne into bed you made sure to give both her and her Rooster a kiss on the forehead wishing them goodnight.
God, how you missed your rooster too.

MY DARLIN’
Summary: when the daggers are spontaneously relocated in Texas in for a mission and have no where to stay, Jake lets them stay at his place and discover Jake has been keeping a secret from them for a very long time
Paring: Jake Seresin x wife!reader
Word count: 2.09k
“There’s no way Hangman lives here” Bradley scoffed in the passenger seat of the rental car that was trailing behind Jake’s truck.
The daggers had been relocated to Texas for a mission that they all knew very little about. Which would have been all fine and dandy but the order came out of the blue leaving them no time to get their things in order.
Luckily for them Hangman offered his place to let them stay until they got their temporary living situation figured out. Everyone was a little hesitant to agree since it is Hangman we’re talking about but with not much options, they agreed.
What they didn’t expect to see as Bob drove the car into the long drive way was how nice of a house Jake had. Nat thought Bradley thought for sure that he lived in a shack or something.
How wrong he was.
As it turns out in the many years they’ve all known Jake he’s lived on a small ranch isolated by tall trees, not far from the town they just drove through not long ago. The house on the property was a two story home with a wrap around porch and a porch swing near the front door, a garden of flowers all around.
As soon as they all got out of the cars, the first thing Nat ask, just to make sure, “this is your place, bagman?”
“Sure is.”
Without another word Jake strutted his was to the front door, leaving his belongings in the truck with the dagger following after him. He unlocked and busted through the door as quickly as possible, god knows why to the group behind him.
other than Javy who knew exactly why his friend was in such a rush.
“Darlin’, I’m home!” Jake called out into what the others thought was an empty home.
”Who is he talking to?” Bob asked loud enough for the people around him to hear but not for the man of the hour who stood a step into the doorway. Jake crouched to the ground when a golden fluff ball ran into his arm, nearly tackling him to the ground.
Reuben shrugged, ”His dog.”
”Did any of you know he had a dog?” Mickey questioned.
Nat spoke up for everyone, ”Not a clue.”
”I never took him for a dog person,” Javy nearly laughed as he played along.
The group agreed with his statement, all agreeing Jake would be better as a cat person since they all assumed he’d be alone forever after scaring all the women off.
A least that was what they thought until another voice called out from inside the house, ”Jake?”
”Its me. I brought company.”
”I don’t think he was talking to the dog.”
Reuben cursed out his WSO, “no shit, Fanboy.”
”You’re home!”
It was safe to say all the daggers were shocked, jaw dropping shocked when someone joined Jake in the doorway nearly pushing him to the ground with how much force they greeted him. A female someone. A female someone who was now hugging Jake with her face buried in his neck and who happened to be you.
“I'm home,” Jake confirmed, kissing your hairline.
”Definitely not talking to the dog.”
“You’re actually here.” Jake swore he was gonna pass out due to the lack of air with your arms around his shoulders and how tight you were squeezing him but he didn’t mind one bit. Instead he squeezed you back just as tight with his arms wrapped around your middle.
“I’m here.” He spoke against your hair, “gosh, I’ve missed you darlin’.”
“Me too.” You wiggled yourself against him trying to get closer to him than humanly possible to make up for the time you’ve been apart. You only pulled slightly away to place a kiss on his stubbled cheek then his lips and mumbled into them, “I love you Jake.”
“And I love you more,” He of course kissed you back. “Where is she?”
”Napping upstairs.”
You were so caught up in the moment with your husband that you didn’t even notice the crowd behind him until you looked past his shoulder.
“Oh,” you tried to up away from Jake to wave to the group just for him to pull you right back into his arms showering your whole face in kisses. Only when he took a chance to breathe could you get a word out, “Hi.”
The blonde with glasses was the first to wave, “Hi.”
”I didn’t see you guys there,” Jake joked, finally turning his undying attention away from you. Some attention, not all. He turned you around to press your back against his front keeping his arms tightly wrapped around you so you were both facing them.
This man was not going to let you go for the rest of the night, with or without the other Daggers under his roof.
“Everyone, this is my darlin’, my wife.” Jake introduced you to the group you knew so much about and they knew absolutely nothing about you. Everyone seemed to have very different reactions to the news.
”Wife!” You thought Bradley was going to pass out after shrieking so high.
Nat scoffed, ”How did Hangman get married before me.”
But one had a serious lack of reaction to the news. Phoenix asked the man next to her, “How are you not surprised?”
”I’ve known Mrs. Seresin here since Jake and I first got deployed together,” Javy explains.
“And you never told us!”
”Wait! Wait a minute,” Nat stopped the boys from turning against Javy with a moment of realization. “What about all the women you flirt with at Hard Deck?”
Jake seemed to be right for a comment like that because he smiled almost smirked, “you mean the women who flirt with me and in response I tell them all about my gorgeous wife, never leaving the bar with them.”
”actually?”
You almost laughed at the sour look Phoenix made. “Once he showed one of them my picture and called me to talk to her because she wanted to know where I got my hair done.”
Well that was the only time Jake called you as someone was trying to get his number. He’d always call or text after depending on the time at night when they finally left him alone.
Suddenly it dawned on you that you had unexpected company on your front porch in the middle of the day who had been driving and flying all day. “Oh gosh you must all be so exhausted. Come in,” You waved them all in pushing your husband backwards out of the way with your body.
“I'll make you all something to eat.”
Jake took you pushing him as an invitation to struggle you closer, ”No, you don’t have to do that.”
You cracked your neck to look back at him, ”You just drove here from the airport and haven’t eaten in god knows how long. You’re hungry.”
”I'm not hungry,” Jake lied. He couldn’t care less about starving if it meant holding you close.
”Fine. You might not be hungry.” You turned to everyone else who was now in your house taking in their surroundings, “Do y’all want something to eat?”
”God yes,” Bradley praised not caring the murdersom look Jake was giving him behind your back, nothing he wasn’t used to.
”For your cooking I can make myself hungry.”
”Thank you, Javy.”
Jake scoffed at his friend. “You don’t have to slave yourself to make those idiots a feast. They can starve with me.”
“I won't be slaving myself,” you brushed off Jake’s concerns, squeezing out of his hold to lead him to the kitchen for proof. “I already made an apple pie before you showed up. I just have to put it in the oven.”
Lucky the unbaked pie and flower all over the counter was enough to convince him. As you placed the pie in the preheated oven and set the timer, you called out to the group, “can I get you all anything to drink in the meantime?”
After Jake almost had cow over how much you were trying to make your house guest comfortable, everyone gathered in the living room having a civil conversation. One that focused on your relationship with Jake.
You sat next to the blonde man you married years ago, snuggled into his side with your legs in his lap. His one arm was wrapped around your shoulder and his other hand rested on your calf moving up and down as you both got asked another question.
Bob asked, “How did you two meet?”
“My Darlin’ here and I are high school sweethearts.”
Bradley scoffed, “Theres no fucking way you were able to keep a girl that long.”
“Best believe it,” he smirked before warning the man across from him, “Tiny ears, Bradshaw.”
“The dog doesn’t care.”
But Jake wasn’t talking about the dog.
You went on to explain how the two of you met, “I was on the school paper and I had to write a big piece about our football team. With Jake being the captain, we spent a lot of time together and as he says he charmed me.”
“What charm? Bagman is an ass,” Nat jokes.
You laughed, “an ass? He wouldn’t hurt a soul, his mama taught him better than that.” You knew your husband could be an ass when he wanted to but you thought you’d have your fun.
”I did love having my favorite news reporter following me around back then,” Jake peaked the top of your head teasingly.
”You're a news reporter?” Reuben asked.
”was. Now I'm a weather reporter.” You smiled, “living near tornado alley we have lots of shifts in the weather, keeps the job interesting.”
Everyone was far too indulged in the conversation to hear a set of tiny footsteps make their way down the stairs. “Daddy?”
You could have sworn that all the Dagger, minus Jake gave themselves whiplash with how fast they cranked their necks to get a look at the tiny girl peaking from around the corner.
“Hey, munchkin.”
“Daddy!” Your not so baby girl, shrieked still dressed in her teddybear pjs and slipers. You were lucky you moved your legs out of Jake's lap before your daughter bolted into his arms. If it weren’t for Jake protecting himself he would’ve gotten kneed in the groin.
”No way,” Nat gasped.
”I missed you so much, Lottie,” Jake told her as she curled into his chest.
”I missed you too, daddy. Sooo much.”
”Gosh, how long has it been since I’ve been with all my girls?” He thought out loud, placing one of your legs back over his knee.
Charlotte gave Jake a toothy smile, missing the front two. “Three months.
”That’s right and that is far too long.”
”Far too long,” you and your mini you echoed.
“Daddy, who are these people?” Charlotte whispered to Jake. Sadly for her, Charlotte hasn’t yet mastered the skill of whispering and the whole room heard her.
”Everyone, this is Charlotte. Lottie, this is Phoenix, Rooster—“
”Like the bird?”
Bradley finally picked his jaw off the floor, chuckling, “Yes like the bird.”
”Fanboy, Payback, Baby on Board—“
“Bob is fine.”
“Baby on Board and you know Javy.”
“Uncle Javy!” Charlotte lunged out of her fathers arms and into Javys having just noticed then man she’s known her whole life. She was save to avoid moose who was now laying at his parents feet.
”About time my Goddaughter noticed me!” Javy laughed, picking her up “What have you been up to mini Seresin?”
”I drew a picture of me, mommy and daddy and moose in front of the house.”
”You did, I’ve gotta see it.”
”Can I show him, mommy?”
Now that Jake's lap was empty he put your legs back where they were before. ”Of course you can.”
Before Charlotte leaves the room running, she makes her way back to you, peaking at your stomach. “Bye Bean,”
”Why did she kiss your stomach and call it Bean?” Jake asked once she was gone with a raised brow.
“No reason.”
”Really?”
”Nope.” You shook your head.
”Darlin’” The look was giving you felt like he was looking into your soul and you caved. ”I’m pregnant.”
”You’re pregnant?”
”I’m pregnant.” You confirm.
As Jake picked you up off the couch to twirl you around cheering, over it you could still hear ”Are you fucking kidding me.”
Jake reminds Bradley for like the thousandth time that night, ”Tiny ears!”
I love the secret family trope!! With a little twist at the end

LONG OVERDUE
Summary: Now that all is forgiven between Maverick and Rooster, Rooster wants to introduce Maverick to some very special people.
Paring: Bradley Bradshaw x wife reader
Word count: 3.1k
When Bradley had told Maverick he had some people he wanted him to meet, he didn’t expect to be this anxious by the time he pulled into the driveway.
As soon as he got out of the Bronco, Bradley was quick to wipe his clammy palms against the material of his jeans. Gladly greeting the night's cool air while he watched Mav pulled in behind him hopping off his bike.
“So this is your place, huh?” Maverick spoke admiring the house before them, making his way to stand near his godson.
“Sure is.”
“Wow.” Maverick stood memorizing the house before him. Rooster’s house was the definition of the American dream. A gorgeous two story home with a picket fence. With a large tree covering the green yard with a tire swing hanging from it and on the porch facing it; a wooden porch swing converted in decorative pillows.
Damn, Bradley did good for himself.
Maverick being so distracted, didn’t even notice Bradley move away from him to the front door. “Mav, you coming?”
“Yeah, coming!”
Once he joined Bradley on the porch, Bradley took out his keys, unlocking the door. If Maverick noticed his shaky hands as he did so, Mav didn’t comment on it.
Once Bradley had opened the door wide enough for them to step inside, he called out “Honey, I’m home!”
After Maverick got over his initial shock from the man shouting next to him, all he could ask himself was: who the hell is Honey.
“I brought someone I want you to meet!”
The pair stayed in the entrance of the home, Bradley was undoing the laces of his shoes to take them off and Pete was taking in the space before him.
From where they were he had a clean view of the living room. There were couches, covered in pillows with a blanket folded over the back of it. Chairs too. A large coffee table in the middle of the room, all facing the fireplace where photos rested upon the mantle. Maverick wasn’t close enough to see the people in the frames. It looked comfortable and warm, what a home should feel like.
His thoughts were interrupted by two pairs of bare feet hitting the ground, the sound growing near as it came closer.
“Daddy!” Two little voices called, laughing.
Holy shit!
Pete could have sworn his heart had stopped for a second before it start beating again, triple the speed it was before.
Bradley crouched to the ground waiting with open arms. Suddenly two little kids came running in, rushing into his arms.
A little girl with blonde hair, held up in pigtails. Wearing a pink floral dress with flowers all over it. And a boy who looked exactly like Bradley when he was younger with his shaggy blonde hair and chubby cheeks, holding a super hornet. Both no older than four or six.
It was the little girl who noticed Maverick first, looking at him over Bradley’s shoulder. “Daddy, who is he?”
Bradley looked back up at him before standing up to his full height, once again. His Godson began to speak but Maverick seemed to tone it out, still staring down at the little people in front of him who were no taller than his hip.
Only did he finally look up when another voice entered the conversation. The voice belonged to a beautiful woman entering the room, wearing an apron covered in flour with a dash of it on the side of her nose too.
”Who's who?” She asked, looking between the kids and Maverick. She walked to Bradley, placing a hand on his chest and a kiss on his lips. One her ring finger; a big fat rock. She smirked teasingly, “hi Daddy,” before turning to Pete. Bradley's hand immediately moved to her waist.
All Maverick could do was stand there like an idiot, not knowing what to do.
Holy fucking shit!
When Maverick had agreed to “meet someone” that Bradley wanted to introduce him to, he was thinking of a dog or something. Maybe a girlfriend but definitely not a wife and two kids. Both kids are a perfect mix of their parents, with Bradley’s blonde locks from when he was younger, his eyes and cute chubby cheeks. And their mom’s nose and charming smile.
God, had he missed a lot. Clearly.
The kid’s married.
“Mav, this is my beautiful wife; y/n,” Bradley introduced her, squeezing her waist as he did. “ And these are our kids: Daphne Caroline and Nicholas.”
“Hey, kiddos.” Now it was Maverick’s turn to wipe his clammy palms on his pants, since when were kids so scary.
“Honey, this is Pete Mitchell,” Bradley told his wife, looking down at her.
Her eyes snapped up at him, raising a brow. “The Pete Mitchell?” Bradley parroted her words, conforming her suspicions.
Maverick’s lips formed a tight lipped smile. “I’m assuming that Rooster here talked a lot about me. All good things I hope,” He joked despite knowing that definitely wasn’t true.
“Well, keep hoping.”
“Hun,” Bradley tilted his head down to have him closer to his wife’s. “Mav and I had a nice, long awkward talk and I forgave him.”
”really?” She asked, looking between the two men in question.
Maverick confirmed it. “We’re still workin on it, but all is forgiven, for the most part.”
“And I was thinking he could stay over for a deer or two.” Bradley kissed her forehand, glancing at Maverick to make sure he wanted to stay.
“Oh,” y/n’s face immediately broke out into a kind smile, “of course he can, I hope you like lasagna. It’s fresh out of the oven”
“Love it.”
”Great!”
”Lasagna, you guys haven’t eaten yet?” Bradley’s eyebrows frowned as he asked with concern. “Hun, it’s almost eight.”
“The kids wanted to wait for you to come home.”
“Yeah, Daddy!” Daphne spoke up, “we had lots of snacks.”
“Yeah,” Nick was quick to back up his little sister. “We had ice cream and cookie dough.”
“Ice cream and cookie dough?” Bradley spoke in an amusing tone towards his wife.
Y/n pouted, “they tag teamed me. They both gave me the eye.”
”The eyes?” He went on his teasing ways knowing exactly what she was talking about having fallen victim to those very eyes many times.
”Yes, the puppy dog eyes.”
Bradley laughed, “and you fell for it?”
Y/n scoffed, “oh please, as if you don’t fall for them more than I do.” She turned to her son, “Nicky, hun wanna come help mommy set the table,” she left Bradley’s embrace guiding her son out of the room with her.
Now that y/n was gone, Daphne moved to wrap her arms tightly around Bradley's leg. Once again she asked, “who are you?”
“I’m Maverick.”
”But Daddy said your name was Pete,” her voice wavered as she squished her face into Bradley's leg. To soothe her nerves Bradley rubs the top of Daphne’s head.
“Well, your Daddy’s right. Pete is my name.” Maverick crouched down, continuing to talk to her. “Maverick is my Callsign, like how your dad’s is Rooster.”
”Is that how you know him? You work with him.”
Bradley joined Maverick, crouching on the floor. “We do work together but he’s also my Godfather.”
“Does that make him mine and Nicky’s Godgrandpa?”
Pete cackled, “I am not old enough to be a grandpa.”
Bradley laughed at that. “What about Papa Mav?”
“Daphne, Baby!” Her mother called from the kitchen, “come help me in the kitchen, Please!”
”Coming, Mommy!” With that she turned to run off to her mother, calling as she went, “bye Papa Mav.”
”Great, so that’s gonna stick,” Maverick muttered as both men stood back up. Bradley started to lead him further into the house, following the trail Daphne just ran off in. “It sure is, Papa Mav.”
The rest of the Bradshaw house was just as warm and cozy as the living room. The beige walls were littered with photos, most were of Daphne and Nick, the occasional wedding photo. The dining room leads into the kitchen where the rest of the Bradshaw clan were. Both the kids sat at the perfectly set table, jabbering to their mother as she placed the steaming dish of lasagna in the center of it.
Maverick went to sit down with the kids as Bradley followed his wife back to the kitchen. Y/n removed the oven mits, placing them on the counter while Bradley stood behind her, untying her dirty apron.
“It’s okay that Mav is here, right? I should have told you earlier-“
“Of course it's okay that he’s here,” She was quick to silence his worried thoughts, Turning to him as he removed the apron above her head, placing it behind her on the counter next to the mits. Y/n hit her husband on the shoulder, scolding him, “I just wish you had told me you were on better terms with him sooner.”
“I wanted to wait it out,” Bradley defends himself, emitting the truth, pulling Y/n closer to him by the waist. “To make sure he wouldn't disappear again.”
“And?” She encouraged him to go on, snaking her arms around his shoulders.
”And I was scared of what would happen when I introduced you all.”
”Which turned out just fine. Look,” She nodded to the dining room where the kids were surely giving Maverick a headache with how many questions they were asking him.
“They do seem to really like him.”
”They sure do.”
Bradley leaded forwards, pressing his forehead to Y/n’s. “Thank you.”
”What for?”
”For sticking by me, giving me our little ducklings”
Bradley!”
“And for telling me years ago, when Nick was first born to call Mav. You were right, as much as I hate to admit it.”
”I was right?” Y/n gloated, brushing her nose against his. Bradley kissed her, “you were right.”
With their lips locked together, they hadn’t noticed Daphne walk into the kitchen. “Mommy, can I show Papa Mav my Rooster?”
The little girl’s parents were quick to break apart, their hands lingering.”Once you finish your dinner, baby.”
She groaned, throwing head back. “Fine. Let’s go people, chop chop!” Daphne clapped signaling for them to hurry up. Taking her spot at the table again, next to Nick and across from Mav. She slouched back in her chair, waiting for Bradley to place a scoop of lasagna on her plate.
“She’s one bossy six year old.” Bradley chuckled, “she sure is. She got that from you.”
He reached behind his wife, grabbing a towel off the counter. The aviator used it to wipe the flour off the side of her nose. In reaction, she leaned back over the counter “What was that?”
“You had some flour on your nose,” Bradley explained, showing her the towel.
“I had flour on my nose!” She gasped, looking at him sharply,“This whole time. And you didn’t tell me?”
All Bradley did was shrug sheepishly, tossing the towel back on the counter. “Whoops.” He kisses her forehead causing her hard stare to soften, taking her by the hand and leading her to the dining room.
Bradley pulled out Y/n’s chair, waiting for her to sit before sitting down beside her.
“Can we eat now?” Nick whined as his stomach growled. “Yes, Nicky. We can eat now.”
Bradley filled his son’s plate, then his daughter’s, which she was quick to start golfing it down. The dish of lasagna was served around the rest of the table.
“This is delicious, Y/n,” Maverick complained.
”Yeah mommy,” Daphne agreed, wiping her chin with the back of her hand, “delicious!”
Y/n smiled at her daughter, “thanks, baby.” She turned to mav, “thank you, Pete.”
”So how did you two meet?” He asked the Bradshaw couple, making conversation.
“I worked at Hard Deck when Bradley was here for Top gun. One night he came into the bar when I was working behind the counter and it was love at first sight,” Y/n explained her and her husband’s first encounter. “For him.”
“For him? Not you?”
“I fell for him eventually.”
“She was going through an ‘I don’t date cocky aviators’ phase,” Bradley shared. Mav nodded along, as if reliving a memory, “been there.”
Bradley smirked, “but I wore her down after a while.”
“Mom said you kept coming back everyday and had to ask her out eleven times before she finally said yes.” Nick snitched.
“Wow. So you had Rooster all smitten for you,” Maverick chuckled as he teased his godson.
”I sure did.”
“God, I wish I could have seen that.” He muttered loudly enough for the whole table to hear, even though he hadn’t meant to. Causing a cloud of silence to fall over the table. Seeming to have sensed the dampening mood, Daphne asked her parents, looking at them with puppy dog eyes “Can I show Papa Mav my Rooster now?”
”Sure, baby.” Y/n pushed her chair back, standing from the table, “let's go wash your hands first, okay?”
”Okay!” Daphne ran off to the kitchen with her mother following behind her leaving the three males at the table. Nick spoke up, asking Mav, “you fly planes with my dad, right?”
“I sure do.”
“Are you as good as my dad?”
“As good?” Maverick laughed, “I’m pretty sure I fly better then-“
Bradley cut him off scoffing, “come on Mav, we both know that’s not true.”
”It is so true.”
”So not true.
“So true.”
”I’m the one who saved you, remember?”
”yeah. After I saved you.”
Sitting back down next to Bradley, Y/n joined in on the conversation, “wasn’t it Jake who saved both of you?” Once she got the response of confirmation from both men she went on, “ so that would mean he’s better than both of you.”
If Maverick was anything like her husband, she sure knew how to get under their skin.
“Bagman, no way.”
”Hangman; the better pilot. As if.”
The two scoffed.
For a change of topic, Nick asks curiously , “Your callsign is Maverick?” He revived a nod in return. “How’d you get that name?”
”Let’s just say, I don’t tend to follow the rules.”
”That’s for sure.”
Ignore Bradley, it was now Mavericks turn to ask the questions, “How old are you Nick?”
”I’m seven.”
“So you're in what, the first grade?”
“Yep!”
“Have you thought about flying a jet like your old man?” Maverick gestured to Bradley who had muttered something under his breath along the lines of “you’re the old man.”
Hearing her husband, Y/n leaned into him and spoke so long he could hear, “I happen to like my old man.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah, mine is the only the ones that can put off a mustache and tacky Hawaiian shirts,” she laughed.
“Guess I’m in luck then,” he wiggled his eyebrows to make her laugh which she did before pecking his lips.
The couple broke apart when a loud screech, which could only be made by their daughter who just entered the room. “Ew! My eyes, my eyes!”
“Yeah, Bradshaws,” Mav took Daphne's side. “There’s lot of innocent eyes in this room.”
“Shut up, old man. They’ve seen us kiss before,”
“I meant me!”
“Your eyes are the futurist thing from the innocent,” Bradley scoffed.
Mav gasped and brought a hand to his chest mockingly offended. He turned to the little girl that stood next to his chair with a stuffed rooster in her tiny hands.
“And who is this?” He gestured to the stuffed animal.
Daphne raised it in the air so her papa Mav could have a better look. “His name is Rooster.”
“Oh is it,” he smiled cheekily at Bradley. “Why’d you name him Rooster?”
“Cause he’s a Rooster,” Daphne spoke in a obvious manner. “And for when daddies away, he’s still with me.”
Mav almost turned into a physical puttle of mush at her adorable words. He asked, “Who’s you get your Rooster from?
“Auntie Nat.”
A while later after the cookies were brought out and eaten the kids retired to bed since it was well past their usual bedtime. Mav sat on the porch in the backyard with a beer in hand that the Bradshaws had offered him, soaking in the day. The married couple could see Mav from the kitchen window as they spoke together.
The Mrs. Was working on the dishes while Bradley paced behind her, occasionally drying and putting away a dish or two in between his rants.
“He’s here.”
“Yep.”
“I’m our house.”
“He is.”
“He met you, my wife.”
“He did.”
“He met our kids.”
“He did.”
“They call him papa Mav.”
“They do.”
“He’s is-“
“Bradley.” Y/n cut in to stop his next rant as she dried off her hand. She moved to stand infront of him, placing her hands on his byceps. “Hun, your stressing yourself out.”
“The kids are already attached,” Bradley sighed, “what if dissapars again.”
“Will figure it out when and if that happens. For now, go talk to him.”
“I gotta help you finish the dishes.”
“You and I both know your not much of a help when your destructed.”
“That not true-“
“Bradley.”
He huffed, tucking his chin to his chest. “Fine, I’ll go talk to him.”
.Bradley gave his wife a kiss as he reached behind her to grad a beer off the counter. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She waved him off, “now go.”
When Bradley stepped outside to the back porch Pete didn’t look back to him already knowing who it was. Once Bradley sat next to him, did Mav speak up, “so.”
“So.”
“A wife and kids, wow.”
“Yeah, wow.”
Mav took a gulp of his beer. “You’ve really grown up. I’m proud of you, Bradley. More importantly, your parents would be so proud of you. I just wish they could be here with you to see it.”
”Thanks, Mav.”
The pair sat out there soaking in the night for what felt like hours catching up with eachother.

MINOR INCONVENIENCES
Summery: you have life changing news to tell your boyfriend, Bradley but before you even get the chance to Bradley receives some other no so great news.
Paring: Bradley Bradshaw x Mitchell reader
Word count: 0.9k
Warnings: angst, angry Bradley, teen pregnancy (reader and Bradley are 18), very rushed writing
“Bradley, I’m home!” You call out as soon as you open the door leading to your house, having already known that your boyfriend was here since his beloved bronco sat in the driveway.
As you made your way further into the house, going where you assumed Bradley would be — you continued to talk with a slight shake in your tone.
You were so nervous that you could barely wait to tell Bradley what you had found out, just wanting to get it over with. “I have news; I’m —“
You paused at the sight before you.
“Bradley?” The nerves that once radiated around you only seconds before slowly dimmed as you came to a halt in the entrance of the kitchen.
It was already concerning when Bradley didn’t greet you the second you entered the room like he usually did with a kiss.
But what was more concerning was that he sat at the dining room table with his head in his hands. Even from where you stood you could see how tense his shoulders were.
“What’s wrong?” You walked to stand behind him, moving your hands to Bradley’s shoulders to rub the tension that had built up.
When he didn’t respond, you leaned forwards, connecting your hands in front of him. You kissed his cheek, “Bradley?”
Calling his name again seemed to have broken him out of his trance. He turned his attention from the floor he’d been staring at and onto you.
“My application for the academy got pulled.”
“What? Brad-“
Bradley's gaze turned hard as cut you off, “my applications got pulled and it was your dad who pulled them.”
“My dad pulled your papers-“ you paused in thought as the event from a few days ago came flooding back to you.
“I didn’t think he was being serious,” you said quickly, not intending for Bradley to hear but he did.
Over the weekend the Kazansky’s had everyone over for barbeque at their house. Before the meal even began Sarah sent you to get some towels from the linen closet. The closet that is just outside Tom’s home office. Either he did or Pete forgot to close the door all the way and you heard their whole conversation.
Or at least the important part.
“You ‘didn’t think he was being serious’,” Bradley repeated, standing up to tower over you. “Holy shit, You knew?”
“Bradley-“
“You knew! Pete told you he was gonna pull my papers and you didn’t think to let me know.”
“He didn’t tell me!”
“He didn’t tell you?
“No! overheard him talking to Ice but didn’t think he was serious.”
“But you still knew about it and didn’t tell me!”
“Bradley I-“ you repeated his name again to get his attention so he’d listen to you. Tears already started to flood up your eyes.
You hated arguing. Having so many loved ones in a dangerous line of work make on realize how precious time is and you hated spending that time arguing. Especially with Bradley
“Why wouldn’t you tell me?”
“I thought he was joking! I didn’t-“
He cut you off again, “didn’t what!? Think it was important enough to mention to me.”
“No!” You shout, “I did wanna give you another thing to worry about that I thought wasn’t true!”
“Well you thought wrong!” Bradley huffed, getting louder as he went on. “You of all people know how important this is to me. I can’t believe you wouldn’t tell me.”
“It’s just a minor inconvenience.”
“A minor inconvenience?” He repeated making you realize how much you fucked up phrasing it like that. Before you could even attempt to defend yourself and take back those words, he asked, “do you know why he did it?”
“No.”
“No; you don’t know or no; you won’t tell me?”
“I don’t know, Bradley.” You cried, “please-“
“I could guess why,” he barked out a laugh, “it’s because he doesn't want to follow after my dad, is that it? Or is it that Mav thought that if I followed him down the same path that I would turn out just like him. A complete asshole who only cares about himself and doesn’t give a fuck about anyone else.”
“You can’t say that!”
Bradley rolled his eyes, “you can’t deny it. You know what I said is completely true.”
“No it’s not-“
“Really? What about that one time when you were seven and he missed your dance recital that he promised you he’d be there for for an optional deployment.”
“He said it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
“Bullshit. As if seeing his daughter on stage isn’t.”
“That’s not the same thing, no way can you compare them,” you tried your best to defend your father.
“Like hell I can.” He huffed, “Mac wasn’t the one who had to confront you for hours after the show when you found out he wasn’t there.”
“He would have been if he could have.”
“Bullshit! Stop making up excuses for him.”
“I'm not. You're just using shitty examples.”
Bradley threw his arms in the air, turning to pace to the front of the house.
“Bradley, wait!” You called as you trailed after him. “We are not done talking. I need to tell you something important.”
Bradley said your name to get you to stop while sliding his shoes on.
“Brad, I’m-“
“Not now. I have to get out of here”
“Bradley.”
“I’ll be back..,” Bradley paused in the open doorway before hesitantly continuing, “eventually.”
“Bradley,” you called after him as he walked away, slamming the door behind him so you couldn’t follow.
You watched through the window in the door as he got in his bronco and drove off. When you could no longer see the bright blue vehicle you snake against the door to the ground, landing with a thump.
With your head in your hands you mumbled into your palm while you sobbed, “I’m pregnant.”
