Really getting tired of hearing this.

Guys, I understand how frustrating it is to get stuff taken down, but if you think all the porn we make is nothing but “free publicity” you need to take a step back, because you are being disingenuous. 

There is an old saying, “Any publicity is good publicity.”, but that saying is false.  It’s not just false, it’s downright destructive.  Anyone remember the story of Cecil the Lion? Walter Palmer, a dentist who enjoyed safari hunting and had a pretty comfortable life, killed a lion that his guides lured out of a wildlife reserve in Africa.  The news went viral, and he was hounded mercilessly for the murder of this lion.  It reached such a fevered pitch that it destroyed his life and forced him to shut down his dental practice.

Blizzard isn’t stupid.  They are based out of the USA, and as much as we like to talk about how progressive we are in the states, we are still a very puritan nation.  We get so ingrained in our clichs and our circles that we forget there are a lot of people that look down or even are disgusted by what we do / make, and those people have a bigger voice then I think many here like to accept.

I think part of that is many animators are from Europe, where I think the outlook on sex has always been more lax, but here in America, saying “Oh hey I make WoW porn” at a gathering gets laughs or disgusted glances, unless you know for a fact you are hanging out with people of a similar mindset.  Peer pressure is also a bitch, which many people I know who are just as kinky as me hiding it in any type of group setting for fear of being marked a pervert.

The reason Blizzard acted on this was because all this info on Overwatch sex and porn was on fucking Kotaku, a sub-site of GAWKER, a glorified internet tabloid known for it’s users / editors that will hound, distort, or even destroy things they find contrary to their moral ideals.  You think Blizzard would care if this was posted on LewdGamer? Did you think they cared when these same articles appeared on other sites like Reddit or VentureBeat weeks ago talking about the same stuff? 

No, because those sites are not fucking terrifying, and I wouldn’t put it past GAWKERITES starting a crusade versus Blizzard themselves for allowing us to taint and degrade their progressive and inclusive characters with futa dicks and rape.  Blizzard is right now in panic mode, making sure the stuff most pertinent with the Kotaku article go to dead links, because they want to nip a possible negative viral outbreak in the ass before it grows like that shit with Tracers buttocks.  They want to play the “See? We care! Please go away…” card before we can go back to the status quo.

Give it a few weeks, and things will be back to normal.  Blizzard loves the general publicity we likely give them, just as they do any fan artist, but that publicity needs to stay squarely in the circles that understand it, not sticking it’s dick into the heads of those were it does not belong and may not be similarly appreciated.  There is no gain out of swimming with hungry sharks, and something positive can become something very negative when thrown among the wrong crowd.
