Apparently, there are rumors that Alfred will undergo some drastic changes in the CV remake. He won’t cross-dress anymore; instead, he’s apparently now a childish guy who’s obsessed with toys and dolls. If that’s true, that’s a pretty awful way to go. Cross-dressing was an essential part of his character. He misses Alexia so much that he becomes her. The obsession with toys, on the other hand, doesn’t fit him. Alfred never acted that childish on the outside. Eccentric and immature, sure, but he wasn’t such a man-child. How is he supposed to run Rockfort Island like that? No mercenary would take a guy who plays with dolls seriously.

Besides, there’s already an adult character who’s obsessed with dolls. Do they really have to recycle that? I want Alfred Ashford, not Alfred Beneviento. In my opinion, Donna is the most interesting of the Four Lords. Even if it doesn’t directly affect her, I don’t want her uniqueness to be destroyed just because Capcom copy-pasted her gimmick onto other characters.

Will Alfred also get a talking Alexia doll, just like Angie, but bigger? If Capcom wants to keep the Alexia storyline on Rockfort Island in some way, well, that seems to be an inevitable way to go.

Btw, there are no dolls in Alfred’s room in CV, they are only in Alexia’s room. And the hidden room with the carousel doesn’t look like he actively plays with the toys in there. It seems to have more sentimental value to him.
