Maverick

         “That’s a very solid point, and I’m sorry if I’ve made you uncomfortable by asking that, but I was just genuinely curious.” He wasn’t usually one to apologize for a question he had or something he believed in affecting someone else emotionally in other cased, but given that this was an actual trauma and she so strongly overcame it—plus toxic relationships were fucked up. He didn’t want to put her through the memories of that any longer. However, aside from abuse and trauma, death as such, he was pretty unapologetic and he Maverick was perfectly okay with the backlash of that. Being a freethinker had its repercussions. “Of course, and I understand. Tell me what you’re comfortable with, Reagan.”  It was very personal, he understood that completely. 

      Another bold admission, he thought as he listened to her, unsure of what to say to her about that too, but he was curious. “What made you feel as if you were ready to be involved with someone now? Like what made you realize you were ready?” Maverick had luckily never gone through emotional or physical abuse in his life, so he was curious. The most emotional torment he’d ever been through was when his parents divorced at fifteen. However, that was because they fell out of love with each other—nothing abusive. They’re actually best friends now. “I just want to say, I feel really privileged that you’d tell me something so personal to you, and I admire your strength and I’m sorry you went through all of that.” 

      Well, now it truly made sense as to why she was so nervous. talking about abuse was no easy feat, but he felt special that she would trust him with such deeply personal, dark news. He didn’t expect her to get that personal, and he wasn’t sure what to say other than sorry and you’re so strong, but he’d save that for when she finished. For now, he just wanted her to feel comfortable talking about the can of worms they just opened. “How long ago was this? Are they still an active participant in your life?” Maybe she didn’t want to talk about the details. “I’m sorry, if you don’t want to talk about the in and outs of it I get it.” 

        Maverick had always been a good listener, but he understood that talking about personal issues was anxiety-provoking, and he didn’t want to make this person uncomfortable. “I mean, we all had past experiences that make us cringe, or regret... I don’t know, I know we kind of just met, but if you need to get it out i’m not going to judge you.” @hazxrdtomyself​
