Theirs was a fragile bond; not because things were wonky between them---oh no, not in the least. But their life was dangerous, and though she had followed in his footsteps for so long, she'd recently discovered that she couldn't always go where he goes. And that thought frightened her. It was terrifying to have to live without him for a while. But even though she'd practically saved the world, lead a team and withstood the Phoenix Force, standing on her own two feet was still difficult on the long run.

But she'd be damned if she'd admit that to him.

Wade was a dead man.

"It’s just your Uncle being idiotic again. Don’t worry about it,"

He had no idea what to tell Hope, honestly.

He leaned back some and watched Hope for a moment. He understood though. When he was her age, he didn’t have anyone to explain this sort of thing to him. Hell, at her age, he was in the middle of a war, those sort of thoughts had never been on the front of his mind.

Before even forming an adequate response to Cable’s explanation of things, she hung her head, once again reminded that she was far from a normal girl, no matter how hard she tried to be. Sure, she could get by most days, and if not, people would help her out here and there, but sexuality was a bit of a taboo, and she was afraid she wasn’t going to get any wiser anytime soon.

Shaking her head, she produced a sigh that conveyed most of her emotion even before she spoke up about it.

"I don’t—-I don’t understand. Don’t suppose I ever will.”

The young redhead's expression was probably best described as somewhere between confused, annoyed and perhaps a little disappointed about the lack of explanation. As clever and street-smart as she was, Hope was entirely uninformed about the more mature side of life. Then again, there had only been two occasions in which she had come close to someone of the opposite sex that had not been with the intention of harming them, and the last experience hadn't been all that great. She had liked Gabriel---a lot, really, and she'd thought he'd liked her back. But apparently, he'd liked Pixie, too.
