"What?" People smelled? She let out a small breath when he introduced himself, "Okay well, I’m Emma, though I don’t know if you knew that already"

"Heightened sense of smell. Occupational hazard," he explained. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss Emma."

{OPEN}

"Next stop, Santa's toy factory."

"The only humans that smell are the ones who don’t shower" she replied, "And who the hell are you anyway?"

"You all smell, actually. You just don't notice it." The man shrugged. "I'm sorry, have we not been properly introduced?" He turned toward her, flashing a smile and a vacant gaze. "Name's Garrett."

Garrett was the only thing on her mind. Finding him was everything. Without him, Kayley was alone. He belonged in her world, she had admitted that once before. He was her world. Ironically, he had opened her eyes to so many things. But when she saw him, words couldn’t describe how happy she was. The moment was just… there was no way to describe it.

She was the light that made him see, even with her burnt and ruined eyes. His empty gaze was full of light when she was there. He held he tightly, afraid to let go.. though he would never admit that. He was far too strong to admit that, even to Kayley, but he would tell her he was glad she was back.  He ran his hands up and down her back, loving the feel of her warmth against him.

It was all so sudden and the memories that had rushed back had knocked Kayley off of her feet. The blonde managed to stumble to her feet, only one thing in her mind. Garrett. She had to find Garrett. She was with him when the curse struck. Surely he would be here, like everyone else was. Her eyes glanced down to her finger, the two rings shining in the sun. With a roll of her eyes, Kayley removed one. The one that remained on her finger was the one he had given her. The other? It was a false memory.

"Kayley!" he tried again, while still doing his best to keep a hold on Ayden's leash. There was a fear somewhere in the recesses of his brain that if he let go he would lose both of them. The dog would run off and he would be left standing in the town square blind and lost without either of them. His hand was squeezing his hand so tightly that his fingers were digging into the palm of his hand. But just as all it seamed to get worse, it got better. Her voice was there with him.

"I know right? I’m glad I caught him. I’m Alise by the way, or Annalise but Alise works just fine." She smiled a little though he couldn’t see it. "Can I help with anything else?" Alise didn’t take pity on him, she knew better with that. She learned those lessons with Cedric but she asked to be polite. 

"Garrett," he replied to the woman, "I'm Garrett." He shook his head at her offer. "Thanks, but no. You've done more than enough already."

"No, I haven’t seen any dogs around. Apart from Archie’s and he’s called Pongo. I could help you look, if you’d like."

"Pongo is a pain in the ass," Garrett replied bluntly.
