Hello! Name is Mx. Madius, pronouns are She/They/He! I'm an illustrator, amateur costumer, and general craftsperson. Most things I make will have a spooky or nature lean to them. Check my pinned post for more info and links :)
This year, I am setting some intentions with the arts, crafts, and designs that I create.
For people who dont have dates turned on for their posts, this is being posted on Jun 28, 2025
Long post under the cut!
Also I am going to pin this post and make a seperate About page.
Repurpose and use things I already have! ♻️
Burning through the recycled items stash (saved paper, cardboard, etc)
Repairing and gussying up broken or damaged items.
Modifying the clothes I already own, especially with decorative visible mending and applique.
Painting items of mine that I find boring and make them mine.
This intention excludes buying things like paint, glue, etc
The Year of Color! 🌈
Things will have more color this year!
This is partially due to the nature of my recently most commonly used material (paint pens)
But also I am leaning into including more color and dynamic shading in my work.
More gore/horror! 🫀
I'm fascinated with themes of body horror, gore, etc and need to do more with them in my work.
Figuring out good ways to paint and simulate gore/blood (currently a combo of a squirt bottle of paint & glue for drips and globs) and a spray bottle of paint & isopropyl alcohol & water for spray and splashes)
I have been slowly working on a series of works that are based around my feelings about my chronic illness and health issues, and a lot of it involves these themes.
More Whimsy and Joy! 🌟
Yes I can do both horror and whimsy.
I am pretty whimsical as it is, but its always worth stretching more
This is the litany against the idea of what I should be doing or what is expected of me. Is it fun? Do I like it? Then do it! If I end up hating it, most things can be reworked.
I will not regret making "bad" art. All art is worth making.
This also includes making my art much more overtly queer! In a world that wants us gone, existing proudly is an act of resistance.
Draw non people things! 🦝
I am pretty good at drawing people and clothes. I could stand to be better at things like flora and fauna, architecture, mechanical things, landscapes, etc
I also have been making an effort to add more backgrounds to my art, even if its lines and shapes and such.
Get My Art Out There! 🎪
Posting to social media more regularly, even if its WIPs
Trying to participate in festivals/galleries/fairs more often. Debated submitting something to the state fair or the county fair, but the deadline is in like 3 days, rip.
Doing art out and about, whether its my sketchbook at a resturaunt, sewing while hanging out with folks, or taking my supplies out into a field. Ive been looking into plien air stuff lately.
Maybe make some work that I would be comfortable selling
Accepting more commissions and/or customizations
Potentially making art for protests and activism purposes. Its hard for me to go out and do the actual protest due to my health, but I can make things for those who can and take care of them too.
Maybe some art streaming/video content? I do some streams for digital art clients every now and again, but its hard to do for traditional art which is what ive been doing more of lately.
I may add to or modify this list later, but I will in general stick to the energy of the original intentions. If you read this, thank you! Its nice to be able to talk about my thoughts around my art.
Let me know if you want more posts like this on top of the art posting!

Apologies for the lighting, hopefully the detail shots make up for it a bit?
Artist rambles under the cut:
I have had this tray table for a while that I got from a thrift store but originally it had a wicker top to it.
One day, I decided I didn't like the wicker top anymore and ripped it off, sanded it, primed it, and then it sat for a few weeks until I decided what to paint on it.
The top is done, it took about 12ish hours total, I think? I wasn't timing myself and I worked on it off and on.
This is sort of half a WIP because I'm not sure if I'm going to paint the sides and legs with something. Probably more wyrms?
This is mostly acrylic paint for the base/underpainting, the cheap stuff from the dollar tree, and some paint pens. I like Grabie paint pens the best but I also use Posca pens when I need to cover more area and opacity isnt as much of an issue.
When I get moved into my own place, I intend to hang this on hooks on the wall so it can just be art when its not being used as a tray table.
Obligatory "I'm not dead, I promise!" piece, this time for a Humblewood game I joined recently.
This is Midge, my Gallus Community Cleric of Hanera. She's like 14, which is one of the oldest in our party of children, and therefore a neurotic caretaker type. She is a female ring-neck pheasant.
Its technically a digital collage that I built upon. I found photos online, warped/rearranged them like puzzle pieces, added filters to make them look painterly, and did the scratchy line art on top of it to make it more cohesive.
I wanted it to kind of look like a painting. I don't think I did that, but I do really like how it looks on it's own.

As foretold, Banjo Mouse gets his own post! I made these stickers for myself to give out at Hinterland. I gave out all 50!
He's inspired by the mouse on the drawn map of the event, no official connection! Two mice can play banjos, right?
I intend to make these into stickers one can buy! I will probably make them bigger for actually selling them. I might also sell the Pink Pony Plankton ones if I can figure out the copyright laws around that.
I'm home from working at the Hinterlands Festival in St. Charles, Iowa, so I can finally post these stickers I was commissioned to make for a friend of mine/my boss to hand out!
These stickers are how I got the job at the festival! My friend reached out for me for the stickers and then through conversation offered for me to work for the VIP crew for the weekend.
It was a great experience, despite the nasty heat wave, and I got to see a few of the shows!
Bonus selfie of me at the VIP camping gate on Sunday:
I keep forgetting to post things to this blog! Sorry about that!
I have a big costume project I'm working on that has been taking up most of my creative time. That'll probably get posted as one big compilation post once it's done.
I also own a cricut now! It's so fancy! I'm still in the learning process for it.
Anywhoozle, Happy Pride! Have a self portrait! See if you can identify all 6 flags/symbols present! :)
*firmly grabbing all beginner artists by the shoulders* you have to embrace inconsistency. inconsistency is good because it means you are learning. if you focus too hard on making all your art look the same you are really just holding yourself back and forcing yourself to make the same mistakes rather than develop and grow. style and consistency can come later on when your grasp on the fundamentals is stronger. now take this juice box and get out there and make some art.

It's been a while since I shared anything, so here are some pics of some costuming I'm working on for Dame Mandy Valentine.
Ramble about it under the cut
Okay, so I recently had a little extra cash to spend superfluously so I got myself a basic leatherworking kit and some bulk spikes.
While I generally support making punk stuff as DIY as possible, I also have a huge fondness for tree spikes. Plus, screw on spikes are so much easier to use and are nice and sturdy.
Both chokers are made of belts. The purple one just didn't fit, the red one is a belt I never wear. The buckles are really nice because spikes make this shit super heavy, like heavy enough that they would probably unfasten or break with any other type of closure.
I'm not gonna pretend these chokers are not also made with kink in mind. They're very sturdy.
The boots are a pair I've had for a very long time (a Christmas gift like 10 years ago). Added the chains and the spikes to them because I've wanted some stompy goth boots for a while, and this is both cheaper and I already know they're comfortable.
They're supposedly supposed to be snow boots, cause they're lined with flannel, but the traction isn't the best.
I also did a couple of other things in last night's crafting binge, but those things aren't done yet, so I'm not sharing yet.
