The countdown of the final few hours on Day 4 sees the participants working against the clock to produce their 30 image slideshows. Only minimal editing is allowed and an appropriate piece of music must be chosen to accompany the pictures.
Day Four …
Throughout the week, the MV media team has been recording the workshop with both stills and video footage. Some of these shots have been used in the blog to give a daily insight into the workshop process but It is not until the final day that all the material can be finally edited and prepared for a slideshow retrospective of the weeks events.
The second night of critiques is where the documentary stories really start to come together. Stories are refined and each image is evaluated for its merit to be included in the final sets. By the relaxed vibe and big smiles, it looks like some great shots have been captured by the participants!

Photographer Jasmine Jade at Sheringham High School, where her assignment was to document the working day of Headmaster, Dr Andrew Richardson. The experience helped her build on her intuitive people skills and her understanding of the documentary process.
Suzanne Black, out on patrol with her subject, local policeman and Beat Manager, Ian Smith. Over the two day assignment she experienced his extremely fast paced days with constantly changing situations and it was an ideal scenario in which to hone her documentary skills.

Waist high waders were an extra bit of kit needed by Rob Sanderson for his assignment shadowing boat builder Neil Thompson. Rob’s two days of shooting offered him scope to shoot both the manufacturing side at the boatyard and also the launching and testing process at the coast.
Day Three …
Rob Ward enjoying his assignment following Stuart Crane, a custom motorbike builder at Warp Speed Racing.
Critiques after the first shooting day of assignments.
Jo Tennant spent the day at Sheringham Woodfields School for special needs children. Her assignment was to shadow the Deputy Head, Nicola Bone. Jo really enjoyed her first day and worked hard to overcome any initial limitations she experienced using her single available lens of 28-50. Another challenge she identified she needed to address on the second day of shooting was working with the child friendly stimulating backgrounds and finding a way of achieving clean shots.

The ‘Amazona Zoo’ at Cromer was the documentary subject chosen for Yvonne Blume. The zoo specialises in animals originating from South America and we watched as Yvonne photographed two magnificent jaguars.
Yvonne explained that the challenge of her assignment had been the necessarily extensive metal fencing surrounding each animal. With very few visitors at this time of year, she had focussed the story on the ‘caged’ aspect of the zoo and was looking forward to refining the direction of her planned story the following day and bringing with her a longer lens to get even closer to the animals.
