Daniel Isnât Real (2019) dir. Adam Egypt Mortimer
levxvasileâ:
Well fuck him. Lev is staring at this guy, amusement glaringly obvious, as he rattles off an answer and spares no detail. âDamn, I thought I was fucking judgy.â Clearing his throat, he glances around before making the ultimate decision to be a complete fucking asshole about it. Why not? Heâll never see this guy again. âSounds likeââ Best behavior, heâd been instructed. With a sigh, Lev sucks it the fuck up and stops himself from popping off. âSounds like you have a lot of experience with all that.â
âJudgy?â Dan repeats without missing a breath. Blank expression, holding onto nothing but a few blinks. Like a true ponderer. âNo, Iâm not judging. Iâm critiquing. Criticizing. Itâs different.â He shrugs. âEven, the upper...upper class could use a critic every once in a while.â His tongue loves tangents so much so, they donât even have to make sense.Â
Now, that Daniel has found what he considers an eager ear, he could talk all night. âAll sorts, man. I mean, I had my first beer at six. Not a full one, half of my step dadâs. I had my first whole one at ten. That was a good birthday. Then, I went to my first party, real party, when I was fifteen.. which was in a basement. I think there was a keg there?â He shrugs. âWhat? Youâve never been to a basement party?âÂ
OPEN TO: all (pre - dinner) @crimsonstartersâ
Tonight is going to be one hell of a struggle for the counselor. The only escape Aurora found herself doing since she couldnât drive a knife into someone, she drank. Eventually the woman found a way to amuse herself by playing a little game: take a drink for each fucker she sees and completely loathes. Of course the Irish wanted to stay sharp and alert as well so before even beginning to dance with this little game she ordered herself the weakest wine that was present. It still did the job in numbing the urge to commit homicide.
Her ears began to listen in on the surrounding conversations that took place as she kept the glass close to her. Is that â shit, The counselor brought the half empty glass to her lips and took a sip. It was a sight to see though for Aurora. All her enemies in one place and dressed in the nicest threads, maybe threads to prepare them for a casket. Mama always did say â fuck! Aurora takes another sip.
Her senses then kicked in as she felt someone behind her with that infamous gut telling Aurora she was about to engage in a conversation. The sheer annoyance alone made her take a rather larger sip than usual. Part of her began to regret in not picking a stronger choice of drink.
Daniel is a glass half full kind of guy, until he guzzles down the whiskey. Then, itâs just a empty glass. Optimism and alcoholism is his usual approach at life, so itâs natural that heâs using both to self sooth this evening . Heâs trying to have a good time. Danny smoked a joint and took a shot, maybe two, to ensure that he would. Now the effects are starting to wear off, and if he isnât careful, heâll be sober soon.
Which leads him to the bar. The open bar. Dinner hasnât begun yet, so voices chitter and chatter around him. The faces donât look familiar. Thereâs probably some big players here, but heâs nearly clueless. Danny knows he pledged his allegiance to Oliver Faust, and he knows he despises Liam OâShea and his clan. But, Daniel sure as hell couldnât pick the OâShea out of a line up. Maybe, even the Faust too. Heâs got a shit memory.Â
After, he gets his drink, his first whiskey sour, Daniel notices a pretty, blonde standing by her lonesome. Then he notices himself, also standing by his lonesome. What does he got to lose?
"You know how people say, âDoes anybody ever have fun at these things?ââ Daniel says to her. Then, a shrug. âWell, I am.â

Isnât It Romantic (2019) Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson
Iâm made up of black coffee, untamed hair, and poorly suppressed anger.
The Never Book (via auideas)
levxvasileâ:
Open to: ALL (pre-dinner)
This isnât his favorite thing to do. Heâs been to more fundraisers than he can even try to count, and each is more boring than the next. Which is why, naturally, he has to travel around the place and mingle before heâs tied to a table full of strangers. Itâs with a vodka water in hand that he turns and automatically places a smile on his face as he makes that awkward kind of eye contact. âI always wonder how much is spent on the event up against how much is raised.â Lev gestures vaguely around. âThis shit isnât cheap.â
@crimsonstartersâ
The party is big and the lights are  so shiny, but not in a way that amazes the curly haired kid. It makes him nauseous instead. Daniel eases his stomach the best way he knows how, with a jack and coke. Heâs sipping on it as his eyes meets a strangerâs. Itâs no shock, the room is full of them. But this one wants to talk.Â
Danny shrugs. âProbably more money we can even fathom,â he answers. âThey use the guise of a charity to pay themselves back. Partly, at least.â Danny snickers. âFrankly, I donât get it. Iâd rather go to a basement party and chug from a keg, but..â He takes a swing from his drink, â..beggars canât be choosers.â
âIâLL GO IF I CAN WEAR MY DEATH STAR CUFFLINKS.â

OUTSIDE OF WOLVES, 10:04PM.
silverncrimsonâ:
It was well into the night now and already Diamond was a little on the tipsy side, yet she remained perfectly stable on her feet, even in her high heels. She was still looking as fabulous as ever, put together in a way that screamed class and prestige, dressed in a nice silver and black Versace mini with heels to match and her hair and makeup done up expertly. Although she wasnât really that vain of a creature, she still prided herself in always looking her best when she went out, mostly out of principle. Right now she was just coming from Genesis, a place she tended to spend most of her nights, but occasionally she liked to shake things up a bit by going club or bar hopping - it kept her nights more interesting and her schedule far less predictable. Being such a predictable person was so boring, after all, and Wolves wasnât really all that far from the nightclub - a mere couple blocks away.
Walking the streets at night without a bodyguard was something her family would very much frown upon, particularly her sister Sloan and her uncles. They already thought that she and the other were a little too careless with their safety but Diamond was super relieved to not have suits tailing her that night. Or any night, when she could manage it. What she did on her nights out wasnât anyoneâs business, and she sure as hell didnât want her activities reported back to her sister mayor, as much as she loved and adored the woman. Nearing the entrance to the dive bar, she felt maybe just a little too overdressed for the place but shrugged it off as she heard someone calling her.
Looking back, she smiled upon seeing Daniel, a familiar face. âDanny, heyâŚhowâs it goinâ?â she asked, turning fully to make her way towards him instead. In her five inch heels, she stood at a solid six food three, which towered over him by a few inches, but at this point in her life, she was used to towering over quite a number of people. On hearing his predicament, she gave a small, sympathetic chuckle, having been exactly in his shoes barely six months ago. Of course, sheâd been sneaking into the bars and nightclubs all over Chicago since she was 18, thanks to some of her connections and her not-so ethical bribing (meaning she paid good money to ensure an unlimited pass through the doors), but that was besides the point.Â
âYeah, Iâm heading in. Come on, Iâm sure I can get you passed the new guy,â she said, gently tugging on his shirt sleeve and motioning towards the doors.
Life is strange. One day, youâre eleven. Youâre sitting at the kitchen counter, smacking on some Fruity Pebbles, hoping your crunching will drown out the sound of your step dadâs bitching. It doesnât. So, you hear him go on and on about the establishment of the time. âA bunch of dumbasses in office.â heâd say, â They donât do jack shit for this city! â Spoken like a true career criminal. The next day, you are twenty and youâre on a first name basis with the current mayorâs little sister because youâre her drug dealer. Danielâs not the type of to pay attention much to local politics, or politics in general, but he pats himself on the back for doing his part for his community. His stepdad would be proud if he knew.Â
For whatever itâs worth, Dannyâs somewhat decent. He doesnât disclose his clients to others. Usually. Heâd be liar if he says he hasnât shared some names a few time. But Daniel understands what repercussions could follow you if you have name like Washington. He likes Diamond, why make her life harder than it needs to be? Normally, heâd act cool, he probably wouldnât even say a thing to her. Though, sheâs caught him desperate. Diamondâs a nice girl, sheâll help him in a bind?
His calculations are correct.Â
âYou are a lifesaver.â Or an enabler. âShots on me if we get in.â His lips widen in a smile. âWhen we get in, I should say.â Daniel begins his walk about to entrance, feeling much more confident with the 6â˛3 beauty by his side.Â
EDEN, 11:28PM.
crimsongodssâ:
Something something about Eve, something something about an apple - like a snake Sawyer slithers through Eden, a creature built for this habitat. The escort finds the dealer out in the midst of the dance floor, like a moth entranced by a specular flame, and Sawyer thinks Daniel fits in just fine here, mixed up in all the colors of this place. Â
Sawyer also likes to think that he notices whenever Daniel walks into a room - so how come heâs not given the same fucking courtesy? Anyway.Â
This is a matter of business. Heâs known Daniel for, what? A few years? Forever? Yeah, practically for-fucking-ever at this point. Which is long enough to know that this little delivery boy keeps his goods in his back pocket. Heâll make a quip about paying better attention as he dangles a little bag of molly in front of him -Â
But a quick swipe at said back pocket and Sawyer turns upâŚ. well he never turns up empty handed does he? Heâs always found a way to spin swiped pocket lint into gold⌠but the crumpled receipt isnât quite the happy pills heâs looking for. $20 dollars isnât half bad though. Sawyer inspects both under the pulsing neon, stepping right into Danielâs line of view, flicking his gaze up to make sure the attention is back on him. Heâs got a smear of body-glitter to go along with his briefs, making him the most dressed employee here.Â
He waves the $20 dollars and grins a little wickedly.
âNot really what I ordered, but Iâll take it.â
Daniel, as charming and good of a salesman as he can be, has two minor defects. One, his careless mind. Seemingly careless, heâd defend. He often keeps his head in the clouds rather grounded in reality. Â The other one being his back pocket. Not the greatest place to keep the merchandise, but convenient enough. Until itâs gone and you donât have the right amount cash to back it up with. Itâs about survival of the fittest. Or the smartest, his step dad would always add. Evolution hit him with a jacket with inside pockets and now, not as much goes missing.
Except, a $20 every once in a while.
Sawyer has a habit of absorbing most of his attention whenever theyâre together. Danielâs often been mesmerized by him, long before his days of body glitter and dancing in his briefs. Sawyer has always been cool. Smooth too, he can get anybody to anything with simply a look. All eyes are glued to him whenever he walks into a room, where as Daniel feels like a beggar to be noticed. Â
This form of Sawyer puts Daniel on his toes. Heâs never quite sure where to look. Tonight, he starts at eye level.  When Daniel notices Sawyer, he forgets about the dancer on stage. Then, he sees the twenty clasped his Sawyerâs hands. A look of apathy filters over his expression. He pops up from his seat and pulls the bill right from his grasps. âYouâre gonna have to earn that,â goes from his mind, to right off of his tongue. He cracks with a tiny smirk and a small wink.
Boys will be boys.
Daniel crumbles to $20 into his pocket. Â âIâve upgraded, bro!â he announces with a giddy grin, as he opens up his jacket and pulls out the baggy with five pills. Â âEighty,â he tells him, bumping down the price because heâs his friend or whatever.
OUTSIDE OF WOLVES, 10:04PM.
xaviercrimsonâ:
Alcohol, amongst other things, swim in Xavâs system as he meanders through the crowd of Wolves, avoiding familiar faces that seem like theyâd be the type to strike a conversation. While his sister would berate him for being a grump, he feels that his alone time should be treated as such. Though he couldâve gone somewhere quieter to drink or hell, stayed at home to drink, thereâs really no other place heâs comfortable in.
Xav figures the cool night air would loosen him up some more and so he makes his way outside, trying to keep his temper from showing when heâs pushed this way and that as he exits the establishment. Too many people out is a clear indication that he should find another place to go to, but itâs too early to go home and itâs too much of a hassle to find another spot. The voice has the man turning, his frown turning into a sneer at the familiar face. âWhatâs lesson number one, kid? You always gotta be prepared,â he snorts. âBesides, arenât you like 12? Canât have a preteen in there you know. Bad for the business.â
His Knight in Shining Armor stinks of cologne and a lingering sense of disappointment. Those two go hand in hand when he deals with Xavier. Deals, as if Daniel carries the burden for their.... friendship? acquaintanceship? mentorship? In reality, itâs Xavier doing Daniel the favor of trying to make something out of nothing.Â
Obviously, Xavâs lessons donât stay in the ring. âNo,â Daniel sneers back. âIâm twenty.â He says it with same kind of scorn a four year old would have if you mistook them for three.Â
Poking the bear is a classic Daniel Adler move. Especially, the bear with the golden key around his neck. So, of course, he urges him with, âXav, donât be lame. Please. For once in your life, donât be lame.â His black eyes glitter with desperation. âThereâs a beer in it for you,â Daniels offers, knowing damn well he had just enough cash in his pocket for three beers, and with plans of drinking all three.Â

WHERE: Java Addicts
WHEN: Around 16:30
WITH: Open ( @crimsonstartersâ )
JAVA ADDICTS HAD ALWAYS ACTED as a sort of safe haven for the brunette. The quaint little cafe served as the one place she sought solace time and time again. The one place she felt fully able to escape the hubbub of daily living and all the stresses attached to life. Call it a throwback to her university days. Or, perhaps, Katia Vasile was simply a creature of habit. Either way, the boyevik was rather fond of the establishment. Occupying a corner table, a steaming cup of coffee and a half-eaten croissant perched next to her, red-polished fingertips tapped against the glass screen of her phone ; hurriedly responding to a text message. If sheâd been further engrossed, she might have failed to take notice of the figure approaching. Casting a brief glimpse, emerald hues momentarily considering the person before her, an expression of indifference claimed Katiaâs expression. â Listen, â she began, continuing with her one-handed typing. â I donât have a lot of time to waste. So I suggest you either take a seat or move along. â Her tone was laced with mild irritation, words evident with subtle annoyance.
The shop is hustling and bustling more like it should in the morning time rather than the afternoon. And crowds always gets his anxiety rattled. On top of that, heâs looking for Blue Shirt, Black Jeans aka a presumably middle aged man who rather meet the dealer somewhere public than at his own private address.Â
Daniel sees Blue Shirt-Blue Jeans, Black Jeans-Red Shirt, but Blue Shirt, Black Jeans is nowhere to be found. Fuck. Thereâs not a single free table, so he doesnât have the luxury of scrolling through his phone and waiting by his lonesome. No, he has to be buddy up with a stranger. One table is occupied by a brunette, but three open chairs surround her. He walks up, planning to politely asks but settling down. Before he can get a word out, heâs feels as if heâs already being rejected.
Daniel doesnât say anything at first. Instead, he slowly drags the chair away the table. The legs rubbing against the floor creates unbearable sound which is almost lost because of the loud coffee shop. Lucky for him, sheâs close enough to be serenaded. âI needed somewhere to sit,â Daniel explains as he plops into his seat.
After a few moments, Daniel adds insult to injury with, âWhatcha working on?â

Rosie was kicking herself, God how could she have been stupid enough to believe that it would have been a meeting with a family member that wasnât going to end with her annoyed. Sheâd put so much effort into making herself look nice, sheâd only ever heard rave reviews about the restaurant and how nice it was only for her nice dinner to be spoiled by her brother wanting to talk family business. Come home. Talk to Dad, talk to us. Give up that idea that youâll be successful with your little drawings. That last part had really gotten her and without another word the brunette had stood, storming out of the restaurant.
Her heels clicking on the concrete as she walked she didnât hear the person behind her, too absorbed in her thoughts. So when she felt a hand tap her shoulder Rosie jumped, turning around and snapping out a âWhat?!â Realising how she had sounded the woman took a breath, âIâm sorry. Iâve just not had the best night. Can I help you?â
Oh, Danny is familiar with the unkindness of strangers. Arguably, too well. Specifically, he knows how venomous a womanâs tongue could be. Hell, it leaked into his motherâs lullabies as an infant. When youâre not only innocent, but trying to do a nice thing, and youâre not one who normally does so, itâs annoying to be barked at, instead of thanked. Especially, before he can even get a breath out.Â
The phone, screen shattered now from the apparent fall, sits on his palm, hand clamped around it for safekeeping. To be honest, Danny didnât see her drop it directly . But she was the closest person standing nearby the scene. Also, the prettiest. So, when in doubt, he starts there.
His caterpillar brows furrow, eyes shrink, and heâs about to say something not so nice. Then, ah, there it is. An apology. Thatâs all it take for his expression to lighten, and if you look close enough, thereâs a small smile emerging on his lips.
âIâm here to help you,â he clarifies, raising the phone up to eye level. âDrop something?â
