"Part of the reason I'm submitting him again for season 2 is because of him getting put against SIR JAMES T. KIRK early on in season one and while I respect the forefather of yaoi and know he deserved the win back then, I also feel like Dante absolutely left the polls too soon before he had his time to REALLY shine, you know?

A lot of my previous points still stand: He's built like he was meant to endure a lot and clearly carrying that worn, seen-too-much presence that suggests he’d handle pregnancy with the same stubborn resilience he brings to everything else; the fatigue, the aches, the emotional swings would all be taken in stride, folded into a lifetime of survival, with the marks left behind treated as proof of what he’s lived through rather than something to hide. Emotionally… he admittedly has some hurdles to get over still, but he’s been doing alright for years as Nero’s uncle, mentor, and decently dependable constant, even if he never frames it that way himself.

What makes it work is that Dante wouldn’t see pregnancy as something that softens him or slows him down, but as something he protects and commits to in his own rough-edged way. He’s already someone who shows up when it matters, who stays when things get hard, and who cares more deeply than he lets on. In that light, pregnancy stops feeling like a gag and starts feeling like another quiet responsibility he’d shoulder without fanfare, grumbling the whole time but never walking away from it."

This is another ask I've saved for later - I'm probably wasting my breath, but I just had to reply because unfortunately the pedantic part of me cannot help rising to the bait. Hopefully maybe it'll help someone else who's sharing a similar sentiment but coming in good faith, tho I doubt it. So, first of all: you seem to be the one who has a problem distinguishing reality from fiction, anon. Of course brothers caring about one another doesn't """have""" to have incest in it???? The brothers in question are fictional characters, who someone made up, invented a story for, and added more or less chemistry to. They could literally be anything. And I choose to interpret them as lovers based on the text, the on-screen chemistry they display, and the very nature itself of them being not human, and thus, not necessarily playing by the same rules. A different pair of fictional brothers would elicit a different response from me, because guess what? The story and dynamic would be different. It would be no less valuable - but this is the interpretation that I personally find the most compelling for these characters specifically. And like I've said a billion times before, if they made the same exact characters but made them not related, I would still ship them.

And guess what, also: in the realm of fiction, familial and romantic love can coexist. In fact, if we're talking about the Spardas, my favorite interpretation is one where they very much do, and intertwine, and play off of one another. They don't stop being brothers, or father and son, or uncle and nephew, just because they're also fucking. To me, that's the beauty of it. And I'm aware it's a highly subjective thing - if you see the same dynamics and the interpretation that sparks the most joy is a purely platonic familial one, cool! I would never take that away from you or tell you you're wrong for it. It's just clear we should not play together in the same sandbox.
