“The work pulls from various images I’ve worked with in previous installations. The objects in my work have taken on additional meaning given the current state of things. While growing up in a predominantly Latinx/ black community, I always heard this phrase being used: ‘Cleanliness is close to godliness.’ Cleanliness was a way to show that we had it together no matter the circumstances. I was thinking about this while cleaning my apartment… the way this image would’ve been read before the outbreak and how it’s read today.”

"Been finding, or paying more attention to, inspiration in the music I've been listening to quite frequently...."
What’s been inspiring your work?
"Not one of my better efforts, but “Love Letters” and also a bit of print therapy. I find myself in need of an “I love you” card.... Bit of a blowout the other day. I was not feeling socially isolated. Between all the Zoom meetings and emails and being cooped up here at home, I was feeling so totally socialized I was ready to scream. So I did...."

"When I’m angry or processing things that are unpleasant ,sometimes I make angry or unpleasant things. I take it out on the canvas. This is my angry art. Not a cute thing but she has a bunch of emotions. They will stay there. I will move on with my day."
