Groupie Fact: The Jamaican-born Fanny Eaton was a popular muse for the English artist circle known as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and she has since been dubbed as "the most visible Victorian woman of color" (source). Wells was one of the few woman painters in the Brotherhood and began making sketches and studies of Eaton in 1861 with the hopes to compose a larger painting. However, this would never come to be as Wells died during childbirth later that year. All that remains is this study.
