All of that — every single word of it — was only met with a blast of PSI energy to the Absolutely Safe Capsule.
It was futile to try and hit it. Lucas knew it was. But his head felt like static, his body so full of hatred and grief and vitriol with nowhere to go that his ears began to ring and his vision began to blur. He might simply burst just holding all of it in. Or lose control entirely. It had happened once before while facing Porky.
❝ He’s not. Your. PUPPET! ❞
A blast of energy punctuated each word, each doing little more than causing the capsule to rock back and forth more vigorously, little more than draining his body of energy and planting the seeds for a major PSI headache later. Off to the side, Boney kept his distance, wise to the danger that was this manifestation of pure rage from Lucas. But he wasn’t too far, canines bared protectively, even though a dog can’t pounce on an intangible threat like someone else’s words.
❝ His name’s CLAUS! And you’re gonna remember that! ❞
Again, he struck the capsule. And again. To think that Lucas even considered for a moment that no one deserved a fate worse than death, such as this one. That no one deserved to be doomed for eternity like this, to spend every moment in solitude until the death of the universe — any ounce of sympathy that might have elicited was gone in an instant.
The worst part of all of this was that nothing could be done. Sure, Porky could never hurt anyone again from in there. But neither could Lucas do anything in his power to wipe this stain off of the Nowhere Islands. He could try and hit the capsule all he wanted, but nothing would come of it, and Porky would only roll around in there, laughing until there was no air in his lungs to laugh any more.
❝ Y’don’t understand! And you’re NEVER gonna understand! What it’s like watchin’ your own mother get KILLED right in front of ya?! Losin’ your brother ‘cause someone thought he was a toy?! Bein’ left alone by the only family you’ve got left?! Holdin’ your brother in your arms after THREE YEARS and watchin’ him DIE?! ❞
Lucas cried out until his throat was raw, threw out attack after fruitless PSI attack until nothing remained in his body. After that, his knees went weak, and he slumped against the capsule, Boney rushing to his side and whining at the state he left himself in.
Porky didn’t understand, and he was never going to understand.
So leave. He just ain’t worth it.
But for some reason, Lucas couldn’t even bring himself to do that.
—Make no mistake, Lucas. Porky is absolutely dying in there. The problem for everybody else is that he’s dying of laughter. If Lucas weren’t already rocking the Capsule around with his PSI, the tyrant would do it himself, rolling around in his Absolutely Safe Prison.
“You’ll never understand either, Lucas!” He called out between gasping breaths. “I saw a perfectly good corpse that needed a new life! It sure wasn’t helping you out after it took that fall, was it? Honestly, you should be thanking me!”
Yet another fit of laughter followed. Seemed like all he was good for any more, which... wasn’t entirely inaccurate. It’s true, if Lucas were to just walk away, there would be nothing Porky could do other that yell more insults at him. But he knows that; he knows that if he can keep Lucas here, he can keep having fun. So he might as well keep at it, right?
Though, after a moment, the laughter died down, and his voice from within turned... unnaturally calculating.
“Come to think of it, you must have hated it, huh?” Deafening silence from Porky for a moment, as he stroked his mustache, assuming he actually could. “After all, I’m the one who brought it under my wing. I cared for it, found it before dear old dad ever could! I’m the hero who saved that... thing.”
It’s hard to see through that little window in the Capsule, but from the sound of his voice... did he move closer to the door?
“But in the end, you’re the one who killed it.”
