Glad tidings to the strangers.
Muharib bin Dithar used to say in the night while raising his voice some times:
“I am that insignificant person whom You supported, so to You is praise. I am the poor person to whom You gave strength, so to You is praise. I am the destitute whom You made affluent, so praise is to You. I am the bachelor to whom You gave a wife, so praise is to You. I am the hungry man to whom You supplied food, so to You is praise. I am the naked person to whom You provided clothing, so praise is to You.
I am the traveller to whom You gave company, so praise is to You. I was the one who was lost and You brought him back, so praise is to You. I am the one who was on foot and You gave him conveyance, so praise is to You. I am the sick person whom You cured, so to You is the praise. I am the beggar to whom You gave, so praise is to You. I am the caller whom You answered to, so to You is praise.
Our Lord, to You is praise, abundant praise.”
Al-Shukr (195)

“How can a believer not shed tears at the departure of Ramaḍhān, when he doesn’t even know whether he’ll be alive for its return or not?”
Ibn Rajab, Lata'if al Ma'arif
O Allah, make me better than what they think of me, and forgive me for what they do not know about me, and do not take me to account for what they say about me.
Disturbed at what someone said?
“We know how distressed your heart is at what they say” (15:97)
Solution
“Praise your Lord & be of those who prostrate” (15:98)
— Shaykh Aḥmad Mūsā Jibrīl
“Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) used to sit next to graves and when he was asked about this, he replied, ‘I am sitting amongst those people who remind me of the hereafter and when I leave, they will not backbite me”
[Minhaj Al-Qasideen, 432]

My dear, when I tell you about hope, I want you to imagine the sweat dropping off Hajra’s skin as she insistently runs for water in the midst of the desert. I want you to feel the pain and the strength of a father like Ibrahim when he looked into his son’s eyes as a sacrifice to God; Feel the betrayal in Yusuf’s heart when his own flesh and blood tossed him away like garbage and the thick darkness inside a whale where Yunus resided, alone. I want you to picture the wide sea in front of your feet as Musa fled from the pharaoh and how terrified Asiyah must’ve been as she resisted her violent husband. Scream, as Bilal’s bones get crushed while his mouth uttered the shahada and wonder how Rasulullah could still continue his path as blood was flowing down his head and soiled meat was thrown at him. And maybe then when you see it all, feel it all, imagine it all, you would learn that thirst didn’t win over Hajra and Ismael, and Ismael wasn’t slayed. Neither did Yusuf end up unsuccessful and Yunus forgotten. Musa and his people still crossed the sea, Bilal saved out of nowhere and Muhammad’s mission is blooming like never before - because my dear hope means not seeing an escape yourself, but knowing that Allah always does.
“O you who believe! be patient and excel in patience and remain steadfast, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful.” (3:200)
Have you ever experienced that moment of crying so much because you missed the feeling of making sujood to Allah? Have you ever experienced that moment when you raise your hands for takbeerat and your tears just come running down just because you feel something inside you feels so much ease? Have you ever experienced being so lost that you almost lost hope but with one salah standing in salah, you’ve been recharged with imaan like never before? Have you ever missed praying and calling upon Allah that reading this makes you sob and cry already? Oh slave of Allah, this is your imaan telling you to come back to Allah. Indeed, it just takes one heartbeat to remember Allah. So what are you waiting for? Go Pray. ______ Have you ever wondered how the Sahabah felt when they testified the Shahada the first time in their lives? How they’ve finally found true guidance after years of misguidance? Every day we are called back with every Adhan, when will we answer? Come back. Pray again. Allah awaits for you.
“Don’t assume bad of Allāh, for by Allāh, if you obey Him and love Him, He will make for you a source of relief and a way out, and if you are alone, within your family and society, then Allāh will accompany you in your loneliness. And He will strengthen your heart, and make it firm with His guidance.”
— Shaykh Muḥammad al-Mukhtār ash-Shinqītī
When people enter Paradise and don’t see their friends who were with them in this world, they will ask Allah: ” يارب لنا إخوان كانوا يصلون معنا و يصومون معنا لم نراهم.“ “Oh Lord, we do not see our brothers with whom we used to pray and fast with.” “Go to the fire and take them out even if they had an atom of faith in their hearts.” Hasan Al Basri (R.A) said: “Increase in making friends who are believers as they will intercede for you on the Day of Judgement.” A loyal friend is he who walks with you to Paradise. Ibn Al Jowzi (R.A) said: “إن لم تجدوني في الجنة بينكم فاسألوا عني فقولوا: يا ربنا عبدك فلان كان يذكرنا بك!!!” “If you do not find me amongst you in Paradise, then ask for me and say: Oh our Lord, so and so servant of yours used to remind us about you.” Therefore I ask you, if you don’t find me amongst you in Paradise, then ask for me. Even if I’ve mentioned Allah to you only once.

One of the worst things you can do to a fellow Muslim’s heart is either
- reminding him of a sin in order ‘to put him into place’ and make you feel better about yourself
- backbiting about him, even on social media where he is indirectly addressed by your posts
- telling him that he deserves the pain for committing certain mistakes
- leaving him in times of despair when he tells you he has noone to turn to
- spreading rumours about him or sharing sins he has done in the past without the need for it
Ar-Rabb Al-Muʾmin
I’ve learnt something beautiful.
When Allāh knows that a person is sincere and dedicated in an act of worship, He facilitates it for them. When Allāh loves an act of worship from someone, He keeps them steadfast on it. He gives them the means and the support to remain persistent upon it.
Allāh is al-Muʾmin and from the meanings of al-Muʾmin is that He illuminates hearts with faith and He gives His believing servants reasons to remain steadfast.
Consider these two real life examples of this.
One of the most recurring discussions brought forward by expectant mothers is: I can’t fast this Ramaḍān; what should I do? How should I make up my fasts? For most women fasting while pregnant or nursing proves to be a feat. More often than not, they are forced to skip fasting to avoid harming themselves or their babies. Obviously, there is no blame upon them in doing so as their dīn gives them a leeway in this circumstance. But there are exceptions.
From the dozens that I know and the dozens more cases that I’ve seen, I have only seen one exception to this. There is one sister I know who was so dedicated to fasting—not just Ramaḍān; everyone is dedicated to fasting Ramaḍān—but nafl fasts. For the 5 years that I have known her, she has never skipped fasting Mondays and Thursdays and the Three White Days. And I’m certain that Allāh loved it from her, and so He made fasting easy for her. Throughout her pregnancy, until the very end, she could fast Mondays and Thursdays AND the Three White Days effortlessly. Even after giving birth to a healthy (huggly buggly) baby, as soon as she reached the state of purity she was fasting again.
This has little to do with a person’s own capabilities and everything to do with Allāh making a difficult task easy for a dedicated slave.
Another incident was related by a Sheikhah about a girl she met in Madīnah one summer. The girl, in her twenties, was nine months pregnant and was visiting the blessed city with her husband. There she heard about a summer intensive ḥifḏh course. She immediately went to sign up for it. The organisers were hesitant to sign her on given her circumstance, but she was far too ambitious to consider any other option. She signed on, and thus began the long days of the intensive course. Half way through the course she went into labour, and a few days later she was back with her muṣḥaf and her brand new baby—and up to date with her ḥifḏh portion. The teachers described the baby to be of a very gentle temperament, he wouldn’t utter a cry so as not disturb his mother while she was working on her ḥifḏh, and would only wake up to nurse and then go back to quietly sleeping. This grace from Allāh allowed her to complete the ḥifḏh course successfully. And truly, it was nothing but grace from Allāh sent to aid a slave bent upon seeking His Pleasure.
A few of the countless examples and ways in which Allāh helps His believing servants. =)
