Fans wanting Wanda Maximoff & Victor von Doom to be depicted as light brown or olive toned (like they are in many of their comic appearances) & be played by Romani actors is not "erasing light skinned Romani representation"
Meggan Puceanu & Pietro Maximoff already exist as your light skinned/white presenting Romani representation!
Pietro isn't even white presenting either and is at most a shade lighter than Wanda in some depictions but more often than not is the same shade as his twin including in the comic where that infamous panel came from (so he's more the light skinned category but I'm hesitant on this logic because it is used to excuse his whitewashing or justify casting white actors for him).
Racist "Fans" still have Meghan, Amanda Sefton and Kurt (who was adopted into and raised by a Romani family).
At the end of the day though even if both twins were white presenting - not a single person cast for them has had any Romani heritage and this very important aspect of the twins gets erased in story.

Controversial take I don't think Pietro Maximoff likes many kids that aren't either his blood relatives or don't remind him of someway of himself. There's a reason Finesse was the student he was closest to in Avengers Academy but by default I don't think he likes children and I certainly don't think he would be trying this hard to win the affections of this low-key racist white teenager.
Why would he care about if this blond girl likes him. She isn't very much like him, she isn't very much like Wanda or like anyone else Pietro cares about. Is it because she's a dark blond and Crystal and Luna are both dark blond??? Is that what we're doing?????
Gail Simone's obsession with found family dynamics is genuinely a rot that makes this run feel like a drag to read every week.
I don't really agree with the assertion that Pietro doesn't like children or would be cruel to them. He's kind but not a coddler with kids that are not immediate family. He was the reason Georgia was rescued and Given a place and respect on the team in ANXF.
That being said, yes I agree that Calico was low key racist in this issue to the point Gail had to make Pietro say something even out of character for him to at least somewhat justify Calico's treatment of and attack on him.
Did you read the new Uncanny X-Men issue? Maybe I'm saying some bullshit but I think it is the best writing for Pietro in years since Saladin Ahmed. Gail surprisingly wrote him decently and got his personality and affect for kids right, also the colors here are stunning for him, I hope it became a pattern for him in all books like it is for Scarlet Witch.
I'm not loving the series, and I'm especially not loving this story arc, but as far as Pietro and Monet are concerned, this issue was... fine. Calling it the best treatment Pietro's had since Ahmed is a huge stretch.
Their basic characterization made perfect sense, but a lot of the writing in this book is just weird and choppy. I feel like Simone keeps switching things up with the whole Graymalkin situation-- are they leaving it there? Is Monet in charge? If not, who? So that's kind of irritating.
Monet's interaction with Alice put me on edge-- I know that this is a part of her character, but it seemed strange for her to be shortsighted and entitled after being so clear-headed and down-to-earth for most of the prison arc. Moreover, staging a conversation like this between two Black characters was a risky choice for a white writer, and I'm curious to see how Black readers feel about it. There are a lot of layers to the optics here.
It's true that Pietro has a strong paternal instinct, and while we might normally expect him to be a little more prickly at first, I think that having him jump straight into caring/protective mode, and even try to proactively bond with the kids, was a great way to show his growth-- but when he's this nice up front, it feels like his catty digs later in the issue are coming out of left field. His jab at Becca on the training grounds was really shocking, and I genuinely can't figure out why Simone would have him switch up like that
I was enjoying Pietro's characterisation up until that point (but I can think of several stories since Saladin's that have handled Pietro much better than what we've seen in uncanny so far - Pietro and M calling each other dear heart is v. cute though), I definitely interpreted there was an extra layer in his Kindness to Becca due to her resemblance to Luna.
The outliers were weirdly hostile to Pietro and Monet but it was good to see the others somewhat get over it, but Becca's intense hatred of Pietro from the start definitely has bad optics and comes across (at least to me) as prejudiced in a way I don't think Simone intended.
It definitely felt like Becca was chomping at the bit to attack him and was looking for an excuse and Gail had to make him act out of line (in a way that's out of character even for him) to justify the rich white girl attacking a PoC that she earlier recoiled from and essentially told didn't belong.
What should have been Monet's big introduction as a leader felt like it had very little to do with her (and to a lesser extent Pietro or their relationship) and was all to do with Becca (and through that Gambit). Not to mention her interaction with Alice was wired for the reasons mentioned above.
Monet bribing the kids with new uniforms did get a chuckle from me and the art and colouring is great.
