Taylor Swift songs that I can’t help but think they were written about Albus and Gellert:
Better Man (Taylor’s Version): from Albus’ point of view. He reminisces his relationship with Gellert and he’s still in love with him and he can’t help but think of what could have been if only Gellert was a better man. “You could have been the one if you were a better man.”
Cruel Summer: from Albus’ viewpoint. This song is about the summer Albus and Gellert fell in love. It’s about a love so strong but destructive. “I love you, ain’t that the worst think you ever heart?”
cowboy like me: from Gellert’s POV about finding a person who shares the same intellect and ideas. He didn’t plan to fall in love, but now that he did he knows he’s never gonna fall for anyone else. “You’re a bandit like me, eyes full of stars.”
The Way I Loved You (Taylor’s Version): from Albus’ perspective. This song is about a toxic relationship that is now over but you miss the rush of being with that person despite knowing they’re not good for you. “So in love that you act insane and that’s the way I loved you.”
Forever & Always (Taylor’s Version): from Gellert’s perspective about Albus’ betrayal when he left him alone with his plans even though he said they’re forever & always. It’s after the blood pact broke and after Albus turned his back on Gellert when it hit him that they’re really over. “You flashback to when he said forever & always.”
the 1: from Albus’ viewpoint. Years after the war Albus sits all alone and fantasise about what would have been if Gellert would have been the 1. “It could have been fun if you would have been the one.”
my tears ricochet: this bitter, vengeful song is from Gellert’s point of view. After the blood troth broke, Gellert asks Albus “who will love you now, Dumbledore?” He’s mad and heartbroken, he feels as if Albus betrayed him. This song is about the person who was the closest to you turning their back at you and because they know you so well they know exactly how to hurt you. “I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace, and you’re the hero flying around saving face. And if I’m dead to you, why are you at the wake, cursing my name, wishing I’d stay?”
Death By A Thousand Cuts: Gellert’s POV. He feels like Albus gave up on him like he was a bad drug. He left him alone with their plans. Despite their relationship being over, Gellert still can’t get over Albus and still holds on to their blood pact, not only to prevent Albus From killing him, but also because he has a little hope that Albus would have a change of heart and get back to him. “But if the story is over, why am I still writing pages? ‘Cause saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts.”
False God: Albus’ POV during the summer they fell in love. Albus is so consumed by his love for Gellert that he doesn’t think straight (get it? Cause he’s gay?! Ignore me) and doesn’t consider the harm they could cause. He has blind faith in this love and in Gellert. “They say the road gets hard and you get lost when you’re led by blind faith. But we might just get away with this, religion in your lips, even if it’s a false God.”
