i still haven’t recovered from finding out that the option for hawke to tell anders “if you had told me i would have understood” is only available for a hawke that has 75%+ friendship with anders. you have to have played a character who would say that. which to me implies that anders’ response to that, “i wanted to tell you,” is him telling the truth, since he would only say that to a hawke who. yeah. you get it

tbh anders as a religious character and indeed religion being a deeply important thruline in da2 is compelling 2 me bc yes The Chantry as an institution is bad. full stop. but anders doesn't blow up the chantry bc he hates andrastianism — the way he talks abt andraste indicates that he admires her, that he's trying to emulate her, even, that he doesn't think she would appreciate what's been done w her teachings re: mages. he believes himself to be adhering to a truer version of andrastianism, and tbh i think from there it can be p easily extrapolated that he doesn't consider blowing up the chantry to be a desecration so much as a purification. by fire!
he also lives in darktown, where ppl openly complain abt having been abandoned by the chantry. in the context of a religion where the maker has abandoned EVERYONE, i think that's way more loaded than even the accusation of hypocrisy that potentially resonates w the player.
i like that in awakening, he expresses explicitly that he thinks abt andraste as a real person who really existed. to me, that casts his sexual comments (lmao) towards andraste as both a kind of annoying, passive aggressive way of yanking the rug out from under anyone who gets too precious abt andraste and also, yeah, he says sexually annoying things to needle ppl.
i think a lot of faithful andrastians might have a v difficult time praying in a chantry like the one in hightown. but esp for someone like anders, who is in over his head trying to take care of all the ppl that specific chantry has abandoned, like. the religious vibes of that are v compelling to meeeeeeee.

Some DAO dialogue bugs that I think about often:
Leliana asking SURANA if they've spent their entire life in the alienage (before going on to talk about how elven servants in Orlais are beautiful and prized)
(re: above, I believe qwinn's dao fixpack removes this bug. I wish it had found a way to keep the rest of the convo because it is interesting to experience Leliana's racism)
Wynne chastising the Warden for having loud sex with Zevran even if you've never actually had sex with the guy (but are at the "adore" stage I suppose). The way this made my opinion of her meddling ass crater as I was playing
Alistair at 100 approval saying "my love?" when clicked, to any warden. (Absolutely crazy for my warden who had previously jokingly accepted his rose then refused his kiss, like oh God must we reject this guy yet again...)
If you ally with the mages, Cullen at the end of the Broken Circle will inexplicably mutter "I wish I could have gone with them". Later I learned that he's only supposed to say if you ally with the templars, man lost his mind so bad he's living in an alternate timeline...

quite frankly, both leliana and zevran are much more awful to morrigan than zevran is to leliana, it's just read differently bc leliana clings to her 'i emerged fully formed from a windowless room five minutes ago w nothing but the chant of light in my heart' facade unless she's hardened, at which point she sexually harasses zevran so thoroughly that he backs off.
Zevran: I must say, dear woman, I rather like this change in you. Leliana: That's nice, but I'm not sleeping with you. Zevran: Oh, I can think of many other things we can do other than sleep. Leliana: Oh? Then let's see what's in those trousers. I like to make informed decisions, after all. Zevran: That's rather saucy of you, isn't it? You really have changed! Leliana: Yes, yes. I don't see those trousers coming down, however, do I? Zevran: Err...you just want me to show you? Right here? Leliana: Why not? Aren't you the shameless lothario you claim to be? There are rumors about you elves and I intend to see them proved untrue before I even consider a tumble. Zevran: On second thought, perhaps you've traveled to an awkward place where I dare not follow... Leliana: I thought as much.
moreover, she sexually harasses him racially. i do think zevran can be extraordinarily gross to the other companions but sometimes it rubs me the wrong way when ppl automatically assume that means he's the one benefitting from the power structures around him. no lmao.
