Sufism and political life
Sufism and political life
Sufism support people who have a talent for politics for partaking in political affairs for the benefit of society and country development.
King Suleiman (Solomon), respected not only by Muslims and Christians, but also by representatives of other religions, was one of the clearest examples when a person combined spirituality, wisdom and political talent for governmental affairs..
Sufism also does not prohibit participation in country defence in cases of protection , but everything that relates to so-called "fitna" in Islam (internal political unrest, spreading fake news, raising misaunderstnding and strikes within society) here Sufism adheres to a clear rule of non-interference.
One of the tenets of Sufism says: "The people have the kind of leader they deserve" (Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi)Β
This partly comes from the conception that problems a person faces are coming from his/her internal faults, sins and bad character (what in modern psychology is called "internal locus control"), but not from the country ruler, whatever he is called : monarch, tsar, shah, president, prime-minister, etc.
Sufism's support for monarchy as a way of governmental structure comes from the fact that monarchy largely reflects on earth the structure that exists in the heavenly kingdom, where saints are also divided into ranks and degrees of proximity to God.
However, this does not mean that Sufism supports only monarchs . Presidents, prime ministers and any other personalities behind the governance of individual countries also deserve respect and have the right to join Sufi teachings and Sufi mentors with respect and observance of Sufi etiquette.
Sufi mentors, as well as adherents of other religions, proceed from the fact that all people are equal in front of God.
Whatever the status of a person on earth, in prayer to God, all statuses and all earthly merits are reset.
A political leader who comes to a Sufi mentor for advice and spiritual support has the same right as all other people, and for the support provided to Tariqas, political leaders also receive rewards from God and from the Prophets, to one degree or another.
In one of his sermons, Mawlana Sheikh Nazim al Haqqani said very clearly and clearly: "Don't curse your political leaders" (Don't curse your political leaders)
"Don't Curse The Leaders Upon You & Mawlana's First Visit to London 1974"
First of all, any political leader, no matter how he may seem, is primarily just a person, and curses of anyone return primarily to those who curse.
Secondly, the spread of false rumors, fake news, turmoils, curses of those who responsible for state-level decisions leads to double harming (since political leaders are takeing decisions for many other people life) and this harm returns to the enemies of political leaders being increased many times.
Sufism doesn't call for the rejection of household duties as a part of daily life, but motivates to keep balance between acieving success in eternal and earthly life , however, the main emphasis is still roemains on spiritual practices, especially during the holy months and holidays. In general, Sufism motivates to implement God given talents, abilities and knowledge to earn for sustenance and the opportunity to serve society !
************* SUFISM **************** ---------Understanding Sufism and the importance of its existence.--β --β Part 1 β------------
Sufism is such a broad concept that it has repeatedly caused difficulties in understanding and definition.
Perhaps it is almost impossible to give Sufism one clear definition, so it would be more correct to consider Sufism using several approaches.
Firstly, it is necessary to understand that Sufi realities, secrets and knowledge lie beyond human logic and understanding, therefore it has never been possible and never will be to fully comprehend or express it in words.
Therefore, many written definitions of Sufism are external descriptions suitable for initial superficial acquaintance of those who have never known or heard anything about Sufism.
Secondly, Sufi knowledge is built on the principles of energy and the immaterial world, and it is difficult for people who do not believe in their existence to comprehend this with their minds.
The example of the women's hijab (headscarf) is one of the clearest examples of this.
The meaning of covering the head is to protect women from theΒ negative influence and energy that often reigns among the masses of people.
Thirdly, knowledge itself without wisdom in its application does not bring any benefit, and if it is used for harm with bad intentions, then trouble cannot be avoided.
One of the root reasons for such a high authority of Sufi sheikhs in the tariqa, especially those who have ijaza (permission to mentor) is based on his intense concentration on the sheikhs above his rank in the tariqa (through whom the sheikh receives divine support and knowledge) and on the Prophet Muhammad ( Peace and Blessings Be Upon him). Therefore, called βkhalvaβ in Sufism, i.e. The sheikh's seclusion is a very common occurrence in the life of Sufi teachers.
Another dilemma that often arises among Muslims is the meaning and importance of following sheikhs and serving tariqas.
One of the basic understandings of the importance of the existence of Sufi tariqas is the impossibility of comprehending the Almighty on oneβs own. God is comprehended through the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon him), but the spiritual knowledge that Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon him) transmitted to his caliphs is transmitted through the chain of spiritual mentors in tariqas. A Sufi sheikh is the representative of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon him) and his companions on the Earth, as well as an example of behavior for his murids (students)
This explains such a high authority of Sufi sheikhs in tariqas, especially those who have ijaza (permission for spiritual guidance). One of the main tasks of a Sufi sheikh is to maintain an intense concentration on the sheikhs above his rank in the tariqa (through whom the sheikh receives divine support and knowledge) and on the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon him) . Therefore, called βkhalvaβ in Sufism, i.e. The sheikh's seclusion is a very common occurrence in the life of Sufi teachers.
The next important meaning of serving the tariqa comes from the fact that a person in any case in life faces many problems and difficulties, and the presence of a mentor helps in overcoming these difficulties and understanding the problems at a deeper level.
However, this does not mean that problems disappear completely.
If a person, in addition to simply performing religious duties and maintaining contact with the sheikh, also voluntarily helps the tariqa and/or the teacher to the best of his abilities, talents and capabilities, then such service, one might say, in advance, removes some of the problems that were prescribed to him before birth or as a result of any bad deeds.
A hundred years ago, before enrolling in training with a Sufi sheikh, the student already had to know and observe the basics of Sharia, which relieved the teacher of the obligation to explain the basic rules and, even more so, to monitor their implementation. Therefore, for those who were already Muslims who conscientiously followed Muslim rules, it was easier in many aspects, since they did not need to study Arabic and the basics of Muslim behavior.
But this also concealed another paradox, even though it was easier for Arabic-speaking followers of tariqats and those who knew the Holy Quran with tafsirs (interpretations of the Holy Quran) to learn from the sheikhs, however, this also hindered many. They sometimes came to the sheikhs like bowls filled to the brim with knowledge, while some people being even without any religious backgound, but those who were coming to the sheikh with a pure heart and mind, achieved even higher spiritual success.
However, as negativity accumulated in society, especially in the late 20th century, Sufi knowledge and sheikhs became more accessible to give people faith and support in difficult times, regardless of their faith, race or past mistakes.
