“oh my god!” she said with a squeal at the sight of the pink hair. “that looks so cute, what the fuck, how do you even pull that off?!”

“i was actually staring at that little stain of food on your cheek. kinda embarrassing, you should get that.”

mattie was just finishing up her work, walking out of another studio to leave the building when she heard a beat she liked and couldn’t help but go to see who was playing it. “it’s okay, i’m sorry for bothering you.” she answered with a little laugh. “that song is such a bop... did you produce it?”

“it’s not that bad. i’ve actually been to summer camps before, which i know are a little different from normal camping, but still. you just get used to everything.” she answered with a small shrug. “besides, it’s just for a weekend and you aren’t required to go.” 

“that’s understandable.” she nodded, twisting her lips for a moment, knowing jezebel would always be honest with her. “well... you’re not random... but you’re- you’re... hot.” she whispered the last word, a little embarrassed to actually admit that out loud in non joking manner.

“i don’t know, man. apollo is my dad, but i’m not sure if aphrodite had something to do with it.”

“neither. beastie and mat hatter are the ultimate ship.”

“beastie, of course. she’s probably the one one i’d consider a best friend.” she answered. “i have other friends though, because there’s a difference between a friend and a best friend.”

“and do you like that?” she wondered curiously, never understanding the logic of her best friend most of the time. mattie narrowed her eyes at her, not believing what she was hearing. of course, they would joke about it a lot of the time, but now jezebel looked serious and mattie felt lost for once. “why am i intrigued yet... not really?” 

“kinda.... yeah.” she nodded slowly, eyebrows knit together as she headed for the door. once they were out, she held the coffee with both of her hands that were covered with her flannel’s sleeve, the cup being too hot. “jezebel waters, i’m serious. i’d let you fuck me but don’t mess with me like that.”

“so what? people could say whatever you want. wanna sit here or should we go out?” she asked, taking her own coffee too. mattie raised her eyebrows at her. “are you for real right now? it was all jokes, you know.”

“beastie, please. have you met me? i’m not going to judge you or anything like that. i mean, not to toot my own horn or anything, but i’m such a supportive friend, you’re not going to survive without.” she tried to say seriously, although she knew she couldn’t take her own words that serious, even though she meant all of it. “well damn, and i haven’t hooked up with one single girl before, the fuck?!”

mattie moved to the counter where they could pick up their drinks, turning around to look at jezebel. “are we talking summer as in last year?! why am i just finding out about it?” she looked offended as she spoke.
