New house (more later) is still a mess ... and, we’re still getting used to new school schedules (buses and bikes and homework and MIDDLE SCHOOL, oh, my!) ... and we’re all fighting terrible bouts of first-weeks-of-school bugs 🤒 ... But, coming home to a scene like this makes me know we’re getting there ... and that things will find their places ... and that we will all recover ... and settle. And right now, no matter how sick I feel or how many rooms remain undone ... I know we’re going to get there. Because we already are. So proud of this kid this week. He had the worst summer cold imaginable and still fought his way through finishing up his project for the 5th-grade science fair. His project tested whether plants that listened to music grew faster than plants that didn’t. For six weeks he took care of three plants: one “listening” to rock and roll, one to classical and a control plant that had no music 🤫. The results? Rock and classical grew at a slightly faster rate than the control plant. However, the rock-loving boy said he would pick rock because it grew faster in the beginning. There is so much that folks see as bad in the last 12 months. But, there was a lot of good in 2018. My wife, our glue, doing her thing and helping people (I’m stupid proud of her). And, our travels ... our trip to Paris and a big chunk of France was amazing and I’m so glad I got to share that with my kids (sorry @sjtribble that it took us longer than we planned :) ). And seriously holy s%#$& we celebrated 17 years of this crazy life together. I’m so thankful and humbled by this life we built together. And I’m so grateful for 2018.
