insu’s first instinct is to fill the silence but he doesn’t want to ramble or make anything awkward. so instead he just… shyly curls to the side so he’s tucking himself away into ethan. the warmness that he’s feeling makes him relax, despite worrying that maybe someone would spot them. but instead he just decided to stay quiet and let the silence take over. 

     When it came to food or drinks Ethan would really consume just about anything really. He had a love for eating, especially if the food was good, so really he wasn’t picky about anything whether it was food related or even well anything really. He would try a lot of new things as well because of his own curiosity. So, really, no matter what Insu ended up choosing for them he would eat it without any complaints. Just seeing Insu’s smile made Ethan’s heart skip a beat at the sight, thinking of how cute the other was even just by smiling.

     Ethan stands there, waiting as the other orders before they make their way over to one of the areas to sit, his focus only on Insu the whole time as they finally sit down. He holds the other close, humming softly at how nice this all actually feels to him. Though he still can’t believe that someone like him was even capable of loving a single person like this, always having been someone who just slept around with no strings attached because it was easier at the time. Maybe as he got older he realized that he couldn’t exactly stay that way forever.

     When it came to playing games, Ethan had quite a bit of fun really, especially among us. It was probably the one game he spent most of his time playing when he wasn’t in class or out with Insu lately, the game really taking up a lot of his time. Actually he had lost count at how many hours of the game he had played because he would often end up playing for a few hours at a time until it was early morning.

     In the end he had managed to have a lot of fun times with the small group of friends that he played the game with, though there were a few that he had actually not really cared for in the beginning but had actually, over time, started actually enjoying playing with really. One of those people being Nate, however Ethan wouldn’t admit this fact to anyone including Nate. Though, here the two were, sitting in the common room just vibing as they sat there, funny how that even worked when he used to not be able to stand the other male.

thankfully, he isn’t late and that’s good. insu would have been mortified if he had shown up too late. he stifled a yawn as he ran a hand through his hair, eagerly rubbing at his eyes. he looked over all the cafes, his stomach seeming to rumble on cue. 

okay, eating sounded good. but the real question was what were they going to eat? insu wasn’t very picky with food; he had his likes and dislikes but for the most part he liked most things. he also didn’t want to be annoying. or a nuisance.

shyly he grabbed onto the others forearm, gently of course before following him. his thumb and index gently grabbing the fabric covering ethan’s arm to shyly follow him along. truth be told, he had seen people do this during the occasional movie and book, so he thought that he could also do it too. they ended up choosing a cafe with less people in it, but insu was fine with that. he didn’t want to be stared at, after all. meekly he stayed a little behind ethan, shyly looking at the menu. there were a lot of options. thankfully he had some cash out so that his parents wouldn’t see the transaction. 

“what are you going to get ethan? their sandwiches look good and they have a lot of tea options…”

     There was really no doubt in his mind that he wasn’t sure about how he felt towards Insu, because he wasn’t one to sit there and deny anything especially when it came to something that was the truth. Well unless he was messing with someone and ended up getting into some sort of trouble that is. Though his feelings towards Insu were sincere, something that he definitely didn’t mind admitting to anyone who bothered to ask.

     He feels the other grabbing onto his arm, smiling softly before he glances over at Insu. Just walking like this really was nice, the feeling in his chest even seeming to feel amazing as he places his hand over the others. When they’ve reached the little cafe, Ethan opens the door for Insu, waiting for him to enter before he follows in after and they make their way to the counter. He hums softly as he squints slightly while looking up at the menu, finally turning to look at Insu, eyebrow raised slightly as he speaks. “I’m not very picky with my food so I’ll just get the same thing as you do. Don’t worry about the price either, I’m paying for everything today so just get whatever it is that you want.”

“i heard…” she lets herself in, a quick alohomora and she’s letting the door click shut behind her. “from a little kitty that you are in the market for adopting a pet.” it’s been some days since she was able to catch her brother, dom taking up a lot of her time as well as… other friends. 

“and i just thought it was interesting that you wouldn’t tell me.” because it wasn’t like they kept secrets from each other. it wasn’t like them to not talk either, so this insu boy must be much more than ethan is letting be known. 

which elodie just isn’t going to stand for. she was his sister and she had a right to know. 

“i didn’t even know you were looking to pick someone up. funny how he had to tell me that.” she levels him with a carefully passive look, making herself comfortable on his roommates bed, not really caring if she disturbed anything she shouldn’t. “i thought we told each other everything, big brother. i’m a little offended.”

     Ethan lets out a soft sigh when he hears the familiar voice, glancing up from his phone to look at his sister as he sits up more on his bed. He presses the power button to lock the device, laying it face down in his lap as he narrows his eyes at Elodie. “You should really learn how to knock before entering. I could have been naked for all you know.”

     For now he just listens closely to what she has to say, though he finally tilts his head slightly to the side, eyebrow raised slightly. “As far as I know, I don’t have a pet unless someone was planning on getting me one that is. Though we both know damn well neither of us are capable of taking care of a pet, Elodie.”

     It takes Ethan a few moments to finally realize what exactly his sister is talking about, after hearing what she says next. She was referring to Insu as this so called ‘pet’. He forgot that he had yet to even tell her about what was going on, though it was easy for him to forget about telling her because he had been a little busy lately with not only causing trouble for others but also getting to know Insu a little better.

going on his first date was… nerve wracking to say the least. in his head he heard countless things, most of them bad based upon his anxieties. his brain couldn’t calm down, no matter what. he had had some terrible dreams the night before, all dreaming of awful situations that hurt him. when he had finally gotten back to sleep, he had woken up early and couldn’t fall back to asleep.

after he had washed his face and dressed up, he didn’t know what else to do. thankfully, he had decided on wearing something casual, honestly because he didn’t know what ethan had planned. he had decided on a pair of dark blue jeans, freshly washed so that the laundry detergent he used had a wafting scent to it. for a shirt, he chose a white collared shirt with a dusty purple crewneck over it. the collar of his white shirt poked out but the rest was hidden under the thicker fabric. and finally he chose a long light gray peacoat.

when he did pop out to finally go out to meet ethan, the nerves didn’t settle. he had thought back to all of those terrible dreams he had had the previous night. when he does spot ethan, he shyly jogs up to the other, hoping he isn’t too late.

“ethan, hi!” he waves and when the taller looks over at him he flushes pink. “sorry- am i late? i didn’t get a lot of sleep last night…” oh no, it sounded like he was complaining. god, ethan wouldn’t like that, would he? “s-sorry … i… uh, so where are we going to go?”

     How did people usually plan dates so easily? Ethan had struggled so much just trying to think of what would be decent for such an occasion and even as he stood there waiting for Insu to show up he still wasn’t nearly as confident in what he had planned for the two of them. Maybe he was overthinking the whole thing, maybe Insu would actually enjoy what he prepared for them, though he wasn’t really sure.

     When he spots Insu, Ethan can’t help but smile softly at the other. It seemed as if he did that a lot more often now. Smiling. Yeah, usually he would give a little smile here and there when messing with others, or even pranking others, but it was never anything like how he had been doing when he saw Insu now. It was almost as if there was a different side of him that only came out when the other was around, a side that only Insu would ever see, well besides his sister of course.

     He listens to the other speak, shaking his head a bit. “Hey, Insu. You’re not late. I got here a little early to make sure that I had everything in order before you arrived.” His eyebrow raises as the other speaks again, chuckling softly at his apology and finding it rather cute how the other was acting. “I figured we’d start off by getting something to eat first then we can go from there.” He says this as he motions slightly towards one of the small cafes they have nearby, though his gaze stays on Insu, not once looking away from him. He couldn’t help it, the other was just too irresistable to not look at.

     Ever since the night of the halloween event, Ethan made sure that he and Insu managed to at least see one another a few times whether it was in class or even just short moments in between. He actually didn’t even care about being late to some of his own classes as long as he got to even catch the slightest glimpse of Insu. He almost looked like some sort of ‘lovesick’ puppy, at least that’s what a few of his classmates had told him anyway, but he didn’t care either way. For once in his life he was actually doing something that made him happy, well happier than pranking others that is.

     Today had already been planned out in a way for them, Ethan planning on taking Insu out on a proper date rather than the two of them just sitting around on campus or even in their dorms. There weren’t really too many options for them to go but at least they had a few to choose from that, at least Ethan thought, were decent for this sort of thing. In all honesty though he really had never done anything like this so he wasn’t exactly sure what he was even doing really. He had told Insu where to meet him but other than that he hadn’t really thought any further than that on the whole ‘date’ and now as he waited for Insu to show up he was wracking his brain for any ideas so that he wouldn’t look like a complete idiot on their first date.

harmless? he knew that.. but he couldn’t help it. it wasn’t his fault that things made him flinch… he could blame that on other people. the arm around his shoulder does bring a feeling of butterflies into his stomach and made him blush. he was about to open his mouth to apologize for apologizing he thinks he spots something spooky and turns into ethan’s chest, basically pressing himself into the other to hide.

when he does peek out, ethan is looking at him and the two meet gazes. it makes him go pinker than before. “sorry,” he murmurs again. “i’ve been okay.” he says. “i’ve finished my assignments early so that way i can study early for my owls and exams…” he says. quietly he tries to uncurl himself but he…. for once, decides he doesn’t do it. instead he stays cuddled up in ethan’s embrace, his face warm and his heart beating a mile a minute. but it was nice… feeling safe in someone’s embrace. for once. he’s so warm, insu thinks to himself, not daring to say it out loud. it was be embarrassing.

     Had Insu always been as cute as he was at this moment? Most likely, though Ethan had always been too busy in the past messing with the other to really even notice this, maybe he had noticed at some point but had chose to ignore it. He wasn’t really sure though. He honestly wished now that he had realized this a lot sooner because then maybe they could have avoided all of the shit that Ethan had put the other through.

Malia was not usually an angry person. But more than that, Malia was never one to find herself caught up in trouble of any kind. She was a good girl, always staying in line and following the rules in place (they were there for a reason, after all). Yet, for some reason, the girl had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even as she stood in the hallway alongside the other, the girl had no idea what had happened in the first place! 

Despite her insistence, though, the professor didn’t seem to care to listen to whatever ‘excuse’ Malia had prepared. Instead, she was stuck being roped into the aftermath of one of Ethan’s pranks, receiving a punishment for a crime she didn’t commit! The girl was frustrated, to say the least— to the point that she would cry right now if she weren’t so mad!

At his amusement with the situation, Malia couldn’t help but shoot a glare in his direction. “Stop saying WE as if I were involved in this.” As angry as she felt, her words turned out to be more of a whine than the fighting words that she’d wanted to express to him. “Professor you have to believe me! I would never want to come even close to hurting anyone!” The girl continued to plead.

“Ethan, please tell them the truth!”

     Ethan enjoyed Malia’s reaction to this whole situation probably a little too much really. It was fun seeing how she seemed as if she wanted to be angry but couldn’t, the glare he received confirming this for him. Honestly he didn’t even really mean to drag her into the mess he had caused, however in the end it just sort of happened that way and he definitely wasn’t about to back out of what he’s already started by bringing her into it.

     His eyebrow raises as she speaks and he can’t help but comment back, of course faking his innocence as he does. “But it’s true, Malia. We both were behind it all. Why are you trying to just pin it all on me like this?” Ethan pretends that he’s hurt, as if he really means what he says to her even as he looks at the teacher while slowly shaking his head and sighing softly to add a more ‘dramatic’ effect on the situation.

     With her next words, Ethan lets out yet another sigh, this time a much longer one than before, throwing his arm around her shoulders. “Fine, I’ll tell the truth.” He glances over at Malia before returning his attention to the teacher once more. “Malia and I thought it would be funny to sort of prank someone, though after discussing it all I wanted to back out of it, trying to tell her it was dangerous, but she just wouldn’t listen to me.” He pauses for a moment before continuing. “I only continued to go along with it because I didn’t want her to get in trouble alone so please, be a little easy on her and give me more of the punishment. She had a little slip up but it won’t happen again.”

innocent? he was innocent? the idea of pushing or yelling at ethan didn’t appeal to him either. “pushing people is mean,” he murmurs, almost as if he were a child reciting school rules. but he wasn’t wrong. that’s the thing. plus he would never want to treat others the way he was treated at home. that would be too much. only he deserved it.

“okay,” he nods. the idea of getting to know ethan more exited him, had butterflies in his chest. the goosebumps were still there. shyly he looks up but the blush still hasn’t wavered that much. if anything, when they lock eyes he looks away first, still shy. “i.. uh,” shit now he was making it awkward. “i don’t really think i’m that innocent,” he says, in a light tone as if he’s trying to make a joke. “i mean, i wasn’t raised in the country,” he chuckles softly. 

     Ethan raises a brow at Insu’s words, smiling just slightly. “You’re right, it is mean, but really I guess I would deserve it if you did at some point.” He has to admit that he knows he can take things a little too far at times, however that’s just how he is. That he’s even done things that could have ended badly at times but he managed to not let them get that far in the end.

his costume looked good, what a relief. it was all thanks to jamie for that. “thank you,” he says. but he’s glad that ethan did come, instead of not showing up at all. that would have really upset him. especially since they had parted ways after their discussion in the library. but it was exciting to get the chance to talk to them again.

when it was their turn into the carriage, insu ends up sitting in the middle, right next to ethan. he can’t help but to go pink in the face again but he hopes that the light foundation covers his blush. “it’s kind of creepy,” he comments. even though this carriage ride is really nice, it does seem a little scary. and unfortunately insu is still very prone to getting scared easily. and that same spot that he got spooked with alec spooks him again, making him flinch and lean into ethan to keep away from the shadow that reveals itself to be something not very harmful. he scrambles, murmuring a “sorry,” as he sits himself back up. 

“it’s been a while… how’ve you been?”

     It was actually good to just even see Insu close like this, rather than from across the room in class. If the two of them didn’t share any classes then Ethan probably would have forgotten what Insu actually looked like, though he doubted that would ever really happen because even when the two weren’t around one another he could still clearly picture the others face in his head. He was still trying to get used to this whole feeling, though he would be lying if he said he didn’t like it. Because he actually did.

     Once it was time for them to get into the carriage, Ethan gets in and waits for Insu to join him, helping the other up as he does. He can notice the fact that the other has already started blushing, something Ethan found to be rather ‘cute’ in Insu, and he can’t help the small smile that forms on his lips. “Don’t worry, it’s all harmless. Though you also have me here so I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.” He says this in a soothing tone to try and help Insu relax some. Ethan knew just how jumpy the other could get so he really wasn’t surprised by how he was acting at the moment. Another thing he liked in a way about Insu. When Insu leans close to him, Ethan raises a brow, clearly unphased but also amused in a way. He wraps his arm around Insu’s shoulder and shakes his head. “You don’t have to apologize. It’s fine.”

     The thing about Ethan that others often found out after they’ve dealt with him at least once is that he’s definitely a troublemaker. It was his way of just having ‘fun’, messing with others or even pranking them to have some sort of enjoyment when he was bored and needed something at least interesting to do. There were even times when he would happen to drag someone into the mess he creates, just like right now. He had pulled a small and harmless prank on another student, though somewhere along the lines he had gone a little too overboard.

     In the process of all this, Ethan had managed to drag Malia into the mess he had caused and of course he didn’t feel even the slightest bit apologetic for even doing so. Why? Well, the first reason was because he never felt sorry towards anyone, it’s just how he had always been. The second reason was that he loved the reaction of others when he got them into trouble along with him.

     Now Ethan is just standing there, listening to the teacher scold not only him but Malia as well, even though the poor girl actually didn’t have anything to do with what was going on, though to him it was amusing in a way. He smirks at the thought but his attention is quickly brought back to the teacher. “And what’s so funny, Ethan? You two almost injured another student.” This causes Ethan to shrug in response, clearly uncaring about the whole situation. “Well... we almost injured a student. We didn’t though so I don’t see what the big deal is...” This of course is the wrong thing to be saying in a situation such as this, especially to a teacher, though Ethan ignores the look of disapproval he receives for it.

“fun? i have no doubt that anything involving you will be more than entertaining.” xander offers his own smirk as he replies in a calm excitement to ethan. what others don’t seem to realize is how communicative xander can actually be when he’s willing and interested. especially when it comes to those needing his help with something a little cruel.

xander notices the way that ethan seems to scan the area and his excitement grows knowing that ethan’s target could probably be in the same room. it’s a little devious to be planning something against a victim when they’re so nearby and xander loves it.

“tell me, what is it you need help with? considering that you’ve come to me, it most definitely has to be a little dark.”

     Ethan knows that Xander is one of the main people that he should turn to for such a request, knowing that the other male was pretty skilled in such things as hexes. Though that wasn’t exactly the only thing he really knew the other for, actually thinking that Xander was a pretty cool person to just hang with or even speak to since the two shared some common interests in certain things.

     Honestly, Xander was one of the few people that Ethan even really bothered to get along with because of this fact. It was the only reason why he had even decided to show up to this event in the first place. Though because of his reason for even coming it did end up giving him an excuse to ask Insu to join up with him later, even if Ethan didn’t really bother dressing up in a costume. He wasn’t one who really cared to dress up for Halloween, rather being someone who preferred just pranking others instead of coming up with ideas of what he should dress up as. It just wasn’t his ‘thing’.

     When he hears the comment that Xander makes, Ethan smirks some more. “Thanks for the compliment.” He says this because it’s definitely like one to him, Ethan rather thinking of what others would probably as insults as compliments instead. It’s just how he had always been, feeling as if it just showed that he was in fact more of an asshole than some ‘sweet’ guy who actually cared about others around him.

     After he’s checked the area he takes a moment before finally speaking again. “Well, actually I need some help getting revenge on my sister.” He gives a small shrug. “Nothing that will physically harm her, or last more than at least an hour, but something to do as just a simple little prank on her.” He then looks at the other male, eyebrow raised some as he says this. Ethan knew that Xander was more than capable of something such as this, it was another reason why he actually liked the other male.

when ethan asked him to meet him at the carriage ride, he was a little bit nervous. he had dressed up in jamie’s costume, decked out as a simple vampire. the night was finally in full swing. alec and insu had had the chance to go once and it had been really fun. it was nice to spend some time together… but with ethan insu is even more nervous. what if he did something wrong?

the two hadn’t spoken much since their confessions in the library… and insu was nervous .but when he suddenly got a note saying that ethan wanted to meet him for a carriage ride he eagerly went. he is probably like, way too early but he’s standing in line, timidly. it looks like he’s completely by himself. he isn’t paying attention to anything behind him, just totally lost in fact that they were going to be alone together…

when he was next up, there was no one else behind him thankfully. he kept moving backwards in the line, worried that ethan was going to be late… or maybe he wouldn’t show up at all. worried, he kept biting at his bottom lip, playing with his shirt when he feels a tap on his shoulder. he turns around, seeing ethan with relief and smiling. “oh hey, i just got here,” he lies as he blushes a little bit. “is my costume okay?” 

     Ethan had invited Insu to join him on the carriage ride, thinking it would be a nice start to actually attempt to get to know one another a little better after they had that moment of confessing to one another in the library. They hadn’t really got to see one another much after that besides in the few classes that the two shared so this was hopefully going to be something that would work out perfectly in the end.

     He was running a little behind schedule, having spent maybe a little too much time chatting with Xander and planning some ‘fun’ that would help him out later on against his sister. It was harmless fun, something that wouldn’t really physically harm her of course, though he had to have his revenge at some point. It was his main reason for really even attending this whole event in the first place so he really didn’t even bother dressing up like everyone else did, just dressed simple in a t-shirt and some jeans.

with the two of them discussing each other, insu finds that his anxieties are starting to lessen. it becomes a lot more believable that ethan isn’t going to say anything bad to him and he tries his best to genuinely believe that. and ethan doesn’t actually say anything bad about him. he has a hard time looking directly at ethan, in fear of maybe something going the wrong way. the thumb caressing his skin made him break out into goosebumps. it felt nice. it was nice to feel a gentle touch that didn’t end with a sting.

“you’re not a bug–” he replies softly, quickly, but then he goes quiet. interrupting others is rude. he doesn’t want to be rude. but he hears the total reasons of why ethan is interested in him and he thinks, openly… “i don’t think it’s nice to judge others.” people judged him but they only scratched the surface of what was going on in his life. thankfully, they would never know what insu had been through. and that’s enough for him. “i try not to do it either… but it can be hard.” 

     Out of all the times that Ethan had either ‘dated’ someone or even hooked up with the occasional person he randomly met, not once had he ever really given any thought into actually feeling any sort of romantic feelings towards someone. It just had been better for him not to due to the fact that most of the people around him would treat him, and even his sister, as if they were just like their parents. In the end it just became easier to become sort of numb to any sort of feelings he could possibly have and replace them with the desire to just screw with others by pranking them or even acting like a complete asshole.

when ethan said he was going to ask a question, he froze up. he couldn’t help that he was so worried that ethan would say something bad… but he doesn’t. instead, ethan asks him two very tame questions. blinking, insu adjusts his glasses with his free hand, his heart beating a mile a minute.

“i started feeling like this after the whole art thing.” he confesses. “at first i was frustrated but the more i thought about it i wondered if it was just care… and regret that you were expressing.” insu says. “honestly i don’t even know how i started.. maybe i liked you before and held it back? maybe i confused your actions differently from what they were meant to be..” insu finds himself rambling and eventually stops himself. “i don’t really know how it started but i like you. that’s all i know. i’ve had crushes before but i’ve never seen them in the mirror of erised before.” he confesses, but then he stops himself to ask the next question to ethan.

“wait, why do you like me?”

     Hearing what Insu has to say makes Ethan raise a brow at his words, the fact that the two of them possibly started feeling the same way about one another at around the same time really amazed him in a way. If he had known this a lot sooner would it have helped him actually realize his own feelings? “That’s funny actually....I think mine started around the same time.” He gently moves his thumb back and forth over Insu’s hand as he reaches up slowly with his free hand to gently caress the others cheek. It was as if his body had a mind of its own, though he wasn’t really complaining at this point. If his sister saw this right now she’d most likely either tease him about the situation or even think something was wrong with him.

     Ethan found Halloween to be a holiday which he really enjoyed more than he probably should. Why? Well that was simple really, because he enjoyed really messing with others and scaring them especially when this particular holiday came around. The fact that things such as ghosts could scare others so easily just made his job even easier when it came to finding a good place to hide and jumpscare those that were unlucky enough to pass by him.

     Tonight though, Ethan had other plans besides just scaring other students. He had to figure out a way to get back at Elodie for messing with Insu like she had been lately, knowing that she was doing it to mess with him but still he had to get back at her for it. What better way to do that than to find Xander and partner up with him to do all of this? With that thought in mind he had gone on a little hunt for the other male and when he spotted Xander he couldn’t help but smirk, more due to the idea of how well this would all hopefully turn out in the end.
