got too many memories

it’s hard to say if she’s ever been this weak in the knees, this easy to submit. even with her own boyfriend talks back. acts difficult, bratty and-- yes, he’s good, he’s always good, but the way noah puts his hands on her, the way he looks at her-- well, at the moment it’s a bit better. 

it almost makes her feel drunk, fingers curling into his t-shirt and eyes fluttering shut.

“he is good to me.” he responds softly. his voice is shaking a little bit and his heart is in his ears but he decides that he will keep trying to keep his head up. he glances back at his book, not sure of what else to do here. “is he a good brother to you?” he asks, trying to change the subject.

the change on the other’s expression is unmistakable and elodie cooes at him again, pinching his jaw. “you’re so cute. did you think he’s the dating type?” 

it’s funny, amusing to think about. the parks aren’t the type to get tied down. elodie does have a boyfriend to claim, but he’s not the only one that’s been in her bed as of late, so she hardly thinks he counts as ‘tying her down.’ ethan is no doubt the same-- they’ve always been that way. it was easier. 

but still, “we’re good to our pets, insu. we treat them well, just make sure they know their place.” and with that she’s sitting back, leaning on her hands and swinging her legs as she hums in thought.

the next ten minutes seem to drag on for him. probably because he’s antsy to be in elodie’s company and to laze about in bed for a bit. he can only think about the way he knows elodie would ensure neither of them would get sleep – especially after the few girls who still made passes at him with elodie sitting right there. one was even so bold as to hand her number. he immediately handed it off to kevin.

finally the doors are closed and there’s no one left in the bar. dom beckons for elodie to join him behind the counter as he puts away the bottles used from tonight and begins to clean. “that wasn’t too bad, right?” he asks although to him it had taken forever. “couple more minutes and we can go.”

she behaves. elodie forces herself to sit down at the end of the bar, chin pillowed in her palm and she behaves. she sits quietly and she lets him do his job, even if there’s a nasty look on her face each and every time some poor girl makes an attempt on him. 

it’s silly and it’s enraging. 

but she still doesn’t say anything, doesn’t call them out, not even the messy one that smiles and slide her number across the bar. no, she’s good and she’s quiet and she’s relieved when the last drunk student meanders out of the bar. 

elodie stays, of course. she can stay. she knows the bartender. she played the good little girlfriend who didn’t interfere with her boy’s job because she’s hoping he’ll take her home, let her in to his bed, undress her... hoping, even though she knows that’s exactly what’s going to happen. 

if she has anything to say about it. 

“it was like pulling teeth.” elodie whines, slipping behind the bar and wasting no time in wrapping her arms around dom’s waist. she knows that he has things to do, stuff to clean and get ready for the next shift, but elodie really can’t be bothered to let him. she perches her chin on his chest and and murmurs, “i hate watching girls hit on you.”

dom turns back to his girlfriend with a smile. how adorable for her to ask a question that’s practically an automatic yes already. “of course babe.” he gestures behind him to the main area of the bar. there was going to be a new customer in a couple minutes. which probably meant another girl to entertain. “just ten more minutes and i’m all yours, okay? and…..” he looks back a little nervously. “don’t be mad if you see girls flirt with me. you know i’m only yours.”

he always turns the girls away. just for elodie.

“i do see.” she wrinkles her nose, glancing out over the bar. it was emptying out, but there were still those few lingering customers, those few drunk girls who think they have a chance with the bartender kissing his girlfriend. 

but she would be good, for now, and let him go. although she doesn’t so easily, not before pressing a kiss to his lips one more time, just for good measure. 

“i never get mad at you, baby.” which is true. elodie doesn’t get mad at dom. she doesn’t get annoyed with dom and she doesn’t get fed up with dom. “it’s the other girls who obviously don’t see this” it’s a little mean, a little teasing when she lets her hand drift to his neck, pointer finger pressing into a mark right at the edge of his collar. 

“those are the ones i get mad at.” because really, how can someone be so blind. she understands that he’s hot. that’s why she’s on his arm, not any of them, all drunk and sloppy. 

still, she kisses him one last time, quick. “but i guess i can wait ten minutes if i get you the rest of the night... that’s a fair trade.”

     He glares slightly at his sister for a moment. “Elodie, you met with him? What did you do?” He asks this, knowing very well that his sister was more than capable of a lot of things, hell they grew up together of course so he knew exactly what his sister was like. “We do tell each other everything, it just slipped my mind is all. I’m guessing the same thing happened with you not telling me you also have a boyfriend. I didn’t think you would ever even become soft enough to settle down with someone. I’m truly impressed, little sister.”

she rolls her eyes, arms crossed over her chest. “that’s disgusting, why would you put that image in my head?” she loved her brother. they were closer than most siblings, but hardly that close. twins or not. 

she picks up one of the pillows, patting it flat before flopping down with a heavy sigh. ethan acted like she was some terrible person who was out to sabotage his weird little relationship he had going on. “please.” she huffs. “i didn’t do anything to him.” she wouldn’t, nothing more than a little teasing, maybe a little picking, but elodie wasn’t so cruel to her brother that she would permanently scare the boy away. “we just had a little chat. chill out. is he like your boyfriend or something?” 

besides, he seemed nice for all it was worth. 

which was out of character for ethan, odd and different. it made her nervous. 

though speaking of boyfriends... he glances at him out of the corner of her eye, a glare really. “alright, fine. that one’s on me.” she admits, would only admit something like that to ethan of all people. “but just because i have a boyfriend doesn’t mean i’m getting soft.” she almost spills-- almost. 

“i heard...” she lets herself in, a quick alohomora and she’s letting the door click shut behind her. “from a little kitty that you are in the market for adopting a pet.” it’s been some days since she was able to catch her brother, dom taking up a lot of her time as well as... other friends. 

“and i just thought it was interesting that you wouldn’t tell me.” because it wasn’t like they kept secrets from each other. it wasn’t like them to not talk either, so this insu boy must be much more than ethan is letting be known. 

which elodie just isn’t going to stand for. she was his sister and she had a right to know. 

“i didn’t even know you were looking to pick someone up. funny how he had to tell me that.” she levels him with a carefully passive look, making herself comfortable on his roommates bed, not really caring if she disturbed anything she shouldn’t. “i thought we told each other everything, big brother. i’m a little offended.” 

the library was silent, almost dark at this hour. it was unsettling and elodie didn’t like it. 

she can’t say she was all too fond of the tiny little room she was stuck in either, books spread out in front of her, work only half done. she hated studying, even subjects she deemed worth her time, she hated it. it was all so tedious and boring and just... not fun. 

even if she was stuck with with someone she could consider fun, sort of. fun to bait along and pit against her brother, fun in a way that she was interested in finding out. 

“do you think they’ll lock us in here?” she muses, chin pillowed in her arms as she glances up at the other. it had been a few hours, their agreement to study holding strong. “that would be fun, right?” although, she was feeling a bit hungry so maybe not.
