Star motifs run in the family, especially with Gold who is obsessed with it and sticking star stickers on everything-- even her dad! Hence Mango nicknames her "Gold Star".
During S3, Mango doesn't disclose his motive to Purple and especially what happened with his daughter. Throughout preparations, Purple was the one who designed a fit for Mango for a "King Vibe" and added star motifs because Purple first assumed that Mango liked stars since there were lots of star motifs and old stickers around Mango's place.
The thought of adding the stars made Mango pause when he first wore it. For a moment, he thought he saw her again.
