First of all, love your work (specially MGU) and hope you're in good health, now:
What if Jonathan fell in love with David in the same way Medea fell for Jason?
The line where they meet in the bible says that Jonathan's soul was bound to David's and it is surprising the swiftness and passion of Jonathan's love towards David. So, could one interpret this as YHWH igniting that love to help David in his quest in a similar way eros struck Medea with a love arrow so that she helped Jason in his trials? The situations are similar: our hero needs an ally so their higher power helps them through a royal offspring of the enemy (Aetes and Saul & Medea and Jonathan) and since honor was something important ,specially if you were royalty, and love is supremely useful to move people; even more so if backed by a covenant.
What do you think?
Thank you! Sorry for taking a month to answer this!
I think that's a super super interesting idea! We certainly get other examples of G-d changing someone's thoughts/emotions in that way (such as "hardening Pharaoh's heart" during the Exodus narrative) so it's not out of the realm of possibility. I doubt any pre-modern commentator has said this because they've all got hard-ons for a) David's perfection and b) the presence of free will in the Hebrew Bible. But I would love to read a midrashic interpretation (or fanfic LOL basically the same thing) based on this concept!!
Im so glad you like the idea! Its great to have a professional opinion in a theory. And thank you for that reference in Exodus (it'll help solidify my argument, it could be refuted saying that those stories were codified in different times but the tanakh has similar writing style throught the books) and while free will is a counterpoint the bible does have examples of g-d manipulating ( those two words sound so funny together) humans. but yeah, i haven't seen that interpretation either; what i have read is an article abt the feminization of Jonathan in the narrative by Yaron Peleg which notes that the narrative sets and then inverses the roles of David and Jonathan but it does take some parts of greek dynamycs and i dont think it could apply;
Everything capitalism told you to fear about communism... capitalism actually did to you.

When the world ends, people come out of their apartments and meet their neighbors for the first time; they share food, stories, companionship. No one has to go to work or the laundromat; nobody remembers to check the mirror or scale or email account before leaving the house. Graffiti artists surge into the streets; strangers embrace, sobbing and laughing. Every moment possesses an immediacy formerly spread out across months. Burdens fall away, people confess secrets and grant forgiveness, the stars come out over New York City...and nine months later, a new generation is born.

Weâre going to die?
The Earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses.[1] But us â me, you, even those who are killing the earth? Weâre going to die.
In the worst case scenario, you drown, you starve, or you succumb to heat stroke. Not figuratively. You will drown, you will starve, you will succumb to heat stroke. Perhaps thereâs the small chance that you will survive the mass migration to the last reaches of habitable land in and around the poles.
Perhaps.

Sex and Monogamy: A Biblical Perspective
Partially based on âDo The Scriptures Really Condemn Homosexuality? The Immediate Implications of our Basic Conclusionâ, originally published on January 15th, 2016
Edited on 6/28/2018, with addition of five paragraphs under the subheading âDoes Same-Sex Activity During Marriage Count As Adultery?â, and addition of ending link.Â
For months, this blog has made many affirming statements on same-sex eroticism. It has said that same-sex attraction is a normal and natural trait most humans share. It has also said that âgayâ culture represents only a certain conceptualization of same-sex activity, and that others exist.
Even so, many ethical questions surround same-sex activity, and the relationship it has with monogamy. Among them are these two,
If Iâm already in an opposite-sex relationship, does same-sex activity count as adultery or cheating?
Is it okay to have more than one same-sex relationship at once?
This is especially so with Christians, who are obliged to follow the sexual laws set out in the Bible, at least as they understand them. At present, most believe that the Bible completely condemns same-sex activity, and allows sex only within opposite-sex marriage. This understanding (which is actually very young) has received massive backlash from âstraightâ and âgayâ Christians. As a result, and along with other reasons, many might ask if monogamy is even practical.
To answer all those concerns at once, we will examine the Biblical stance on sex and monogamy. We will consider the standards set for same-sex activity and opposite-sex activity. We will also ask if same-sex activity and opposite-sex activity are really incompatible, and if same-sex relationships should be monogamous.
The Bibleâs Standards for Opposite-Sex Activity
Inside the New Testament, there are no explicit laws governing opposite-sex activity. Instead, the bulk of those regulations exist in the Old Testament. Some argue that because of this situation, opposite-sex activity should persist freely among Christians. In saying that, they are forgetting an important fact about Christianityâs origins.
Itâs important to remember that early Christianity was a liberal form of Judaism. The Old Testament was considered the Christian body of scripture, while the New Testament was contemporary commentary. While the rules of the Mosaic Law no longer applied, the principles that guided them still did, and would come to greater fulfillment in Christianity.
This is why Jesus said the following in Matthew 5:17,18: âDo not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets [references to the Old Testament including the Mosaic Law]; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.â He did not mean that he would enforce the exact rules of the Old Testament. Instead, he was saying that its principles still applied, and would continue to exist in Christianity.
As such, as we look through the Old Testament, one principle becomes evident - that opposite-sex activity is only allowed within marriage.
