It keeps going downhill...
So after almost 8 years as a bookkeeper.... during which I became the full time bookkeeper, payroll clerk and office manager...... My job is given to a family member and was told it was to downsizing... ya ok like whatever.... Karma got them all later and the company went bankrupt...
I also got kicked out of my home of over 12 years, after the landlords lost their oldest son and they just wanted to sell everything and move on with life....
I had gotten off of government assistance while I was working... back on it I go again, only now there is no more Motherâs Allowance, only straight welfare ( a lot less money)...... soon found a job in retail a big drop in pay, almost half....
For three years I worked my way up and liked the job for the most part, more money would have been helpfulÂ
Along comes a brand new Walmart..... offering almost $2 more an hour ... away I go..... Another enormous mistake.... Walmart is by far the worst place to work...It started off pretty good and I was dong a lot of work beside what was my own... It all became too stressful and thankless and I was made to feel like I was wasting my time..
I got around in Walmart and had many different jobs and lasted almost 7 years. During which time I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia..... Despite me going above and beyond and being a great employee, The store manager decided I shouldnât be doing what I was doing because of doctorâs notes on what was good and what was bad for me
For my own good I had to keep busy and keep going while i was at work. It kept my mind off the chronic pain and helped me get through my day...But according to them I was a liability and if I did get hurt they could be in trouble.. How would I like to just stand at the door and do nothing but greet people and at times walk the store to check on signage
No thank you... Have more time to dwell on how badly I was in pain... I can do that at home and be happier thanks but no thanks... Doctor agrees and tells me I am better off quitting... So I quit and then the start for disability ensues .....Meanwhile just receiving basic welfare, yet again......
Life on government assistance and living in housing
From the time I started living in housing, receiving what was then âMotherâs Allowanceâ I remained a stay at home mother to my son and daughter.Â
Met another man that turned out to be wonderful. Not a mistake by any means but it just didnât work out after 3 years of being together.
He was awesome with my kids and he will always hold a special place in my heart... it just didnât work out
After that relationship fail, i got a job when my children were in JK and Sk. I was a school bus driver... A rewarding job and a stressful one at the same time.
Once both children were in school full time I applied for a government loan to go back to school... Off to college I went, studying Business Information Systems. Unfortunately the only good that came from that was a new love of Accounting..After two years in college and not enough to search for work in the field I then took some online Accounting courses
I spent a few months on an assembly line for a company that soon went bankrupt.
Went back to driving a bus until I found a job in a manufacturing facility. Ten short days on the floor in manufacturing and then a position came up for office help. Some light bookkeeping and general office duties.... got the job
Spent almost 8 years at that job, during which time I had another awful relationship with an older man with issues... I tried and I tried but could not keep putting myself and my teenagers through the torment and hell of being involved with a drunk who only worked when he decided he wanted to...
Along came my first grand baby... yes grand baby at barely 38 years old
Out went the drunk....
My Big Mistake
So I stumbled upon a young man who I thought might make everything better. He had a good job with the oil companies in Alberta and was making some damn good money and he seemed to genuinely love me.... What a fool I was.
As soon as we decided to find a place to live together... he quit his job, couldnât trust me to be alone..... like wtf man ...
Guess what... not long after that we moved back to momâs... Then pregnant and on welfareÂ
He turned out to be a nightmare.... Soon after my son was born we went back out to Alberta to his parents promising to change his tune. But not after he had spend a few months in jail for Break and Enter... his way of trying to earn money...
It didnât take long and I was of course pregnant again. But after only me trying to find and getting work, and waking up and growing up and finally realizing that he was a dead end that was going nowhere fast.... I left with baby in tow and baby in belly and with only $20 in my pocket.
Back to momâs again and applying for government assistant housing....
Had an apartment for a short while until I got a place.... Mice infested rat hole close to a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise...... 2 weeks before getting a place with subsidized housing we were back with mom again....
Accounting
So why did I not pursue a career in Accounting?
Well, not having applied myself in high school, I honestly didnât think it was possible. No way of being able to afford to go to college or university I didnât even think about it at the time.
Instead I decided to take off after graduating and go live with my Father. Yes the father that wasnât around while I was growing up. I had never seen him or heard from him from the time I was 4 until I was 13
At that time he was living in another province with his second wife. They had come home, that summer, to visit family. My aunt called me one day to say he was there and wanted to see me.... I took off without even telling my mother where I was going
From that day forward I tried to have a relationship with my father. At 15 and 16 I went to visit him during summer vacation.
Over the years I could never do anything right, according to my father, I was no saint by any means but I wasnât an awful person either, just made some bad choices.
The baddest choice..... I hooked up with somebody who paid attention to me and seemed to want to be with me... at the age of 18. I met him while I was at my fatherâs. I had gone to stay there after high school hoping for something better in life.... Well that never happened.....

How it started
Small town, Ontario Canada, girl raised in poverty with one parent. Yup that;s me, the oldest of 4, 2 sisters and a brother from another father.Â
Parents divorced when I was only 4, leaving mom with 2 babies and another one on the way...
I became a big sister quickly and at a young age helping mom to take care of my sisters.Â
She barely worked at all and we were raised on such wonderful things as Kraft Dinner and Mock chicken.... To this day I canât stand the sight or smell of either lol I often have to because my grandchildren still eat that crap. lol
Despite not having any kind of support system, I did well in school and I actually enjoyed it. I never really applied myself but in the end I graduated high school with a B- Average.. Not bad for not trying and just getting by day to day
I regret not applying myself and doing much better, but from it I learned I loved French (will always wish we had French Immersion back then) and Accounting. I swore after high school I would pursue a career in Accounting.... Never did :(
My Journey to becoming Mrs Agyemang
At the age of 53 I married the love of my life
What lead me to this amazing occurrence.....
In a nutshell... from small town born and raised to marrying the most wonderful man I will ever know, from Accra Ghana
