It was comical to everyone that knew you both, it was like you two were made for each other. Even you both joked about it, and you both believed it. The kids of your classes thought so but they were kids, so you couldn’t talk to each other without one of them gagging at your ‘affection’. They didn’t truly mind though, happily entering your classes as you said goodbye. It was nice knowing his class wasn’t far from yours.

That day Eva arrived at the school to pick him up, not hearing when he mumbles about you. He thought this would be quick enough for you to not notice him gone before you got out, having to stay behind to finish grading some work. Eva paid no mind to the second bike parked in front of Graces as they left. She saw it, sure, but didn’t think that it would be a partner’s, perhaps a colleague’s or another student's.

On the other hand, you weren’t overly worried when Grace wasn’t at home. At least for the first hour, he likely was busy with his own work and forgot to message you about it. He did that often enough for you to call it a habit, he would be back soon enough apologising. So you got a start on making dinner, something easily but hearty for a day like today.

But as time ticked away, he didn’t return. And all calls to his phone were met with his voicemail, messages never getting a response. You didn’t want to panic, going through everything that could’ve happened over and over again in your mind. Trying not to let it show on your face as you continue teaching, having to brush off all questions about his where-abouts as him being sick.

Soon though, Eva is standing outside the same school she picked up Grace from. There was a thin layer of guilt settling in her mind, what she told Grace before he was sent out. “You have no immediate family. You don’t even have a dog.” And it was only after he was sent, did they find out they were wrong. It was that neither of you had a large online presence, never posting about each other. That they missed his partner of years.

Walking through the now empty hallway, passing Grace's class room before reaching yours. It was eerily similar to her meeting with Grace, but that wasn’t why she was here. Mentioning just enough for your attention to be piqued, walking you towards one of the few black SUVs waiting outside. Going through the, once again, very familiar motions with you.

While Eva and everyone else had faith in Grace, they all figured it wouldn’t hurt to send someone else into space. Luckily after building the Hail Mary for the first time, they now had the blueprints to make an identical second one. With less work on your part with the astrophage, and she was hoping you were more reasonable than Grace.

Sadly her hopes dropped instantly as she told you what would happen, moving almost identical to your partner. Slightly smarter, she had to admit, not wasting time before bolting out the door and soon past her office. Of course you failed, struggling as the liquid was injected into your neck and you went slack.

It was one of those days where nothing felt right. Grace knew he didn’t really have anything to be upset about, the Eridians took care of him and all his needs well, always trying to improve and give him the best life possible. But none of them, apart from Rocky to a degree, understood what he was going through.

Unable to pull his eyes away from the picture in his hands, the one you two took pretty early on in your relationship. Having thrown your arm around his shoulder and pulled him against yourself. He told Rocky about you, whenever something came into his mind he said it, fearing he would forget and never remember it again. And he was glad he did, Rocky never let him forget those memories.

Pulled out of his thoughts by the shouts of Rocky entering the biodome, barely able to make out what he says before he calms down to repeat it. “Grace! Another human arrives, statement!”

“What? How?” He was rightfully shocked, why would there be another human this far out? And if he did the math (which he did), they would’ve been sent out shortly after he was. Luckily for Grace, Rocky settled down to answer his questions. Apparently the Eridians got a message from a nearby ship, the human was excited about the connection.

And if Rocky was right with the timing, the others would’ve met the human by now and would be on their way back. Though he seemed much more excited about this than Rocky should be, it could just be him meeting another human for the first time. Not that Rocky was saying anything about who it was. All Grace could do is wait, he couldn’t do anything to help.

As time flew by, there were very few items you kept on your person at all times. One being a photo of you and Grace, on the back of the photo it was written the time and day. The first day of you both teaching at the middle school, both excited about the future. And a small box, you rarely opened it as it hurt too much most times. But inside sat two rings of different sizes, initials engraved on the inside of the bands.

Pulled out of your thoughts by a robotic voice speaking, “Connecting to the Hail Mary.” What? There shouldn’t have been a ship this far out after all this time, though you were sent out after the Hail Mary, but it survived and was in orbit? Rushing over to the screen as it connected, but instead of seeing another person, all you saw were… rocks? Confused, you pressed a few buttons to make sure what you were seeing was right. It was, you were looking at some sentient rocks.

Wait. Sentiment? Jumping as one of them threw their arms (?) up in a wave, unable to understand what they were saying. So you resorted to a game of pictionary, eventually coming to the conclusion that they want to come to you. Well, after this many years alone you’re willing to take any kind of contact you can get.

The pair in the biodome started getting restless about an hour ago, with all this excitement but not being given any other information, they could only do anything else to distract themselves. Luckily enough, that was cut short by other Eridans arriving. It was kinda hard to miss the colorful group of them, who were crowding around something. Too bad the larger ones were blocking his view of whatever it was, though they quickly moved to reveal what they were hiding after bringing it inside the biodome.

…

It was you. Looking around, taking everything in. Even as the Eridians chatter away all he could hear was you, shouting his name as you rushed over. Nearly toppling him over when you collided, you both trapping the other in a squeezing embrace. Grace couldn’t see you properly due to his tears, unable to bring himself to pull away and wipe them away. They’ll start up again instantly.

“You’re back.”

His voice was choked with tears, only coming out as a whisper. You could only nod, tears falling from your own eyes. Finally pulling away after a while, wiping your tears as Grace moved to hold you against his side, not ready to stop touching you. Guiding you inside his home, quickly noticing a photo of you two sitting on his table.

I hope you can multitask because all these gems want your time and attention.

Dating four normal gems would be tiring enough, same with one diamond. But dating the whole diamond authority? I pray for you.

There will be very little alone time in this relationship, even when they’re all busy, they’ll try (with varying success) to stop you from being lonely.

But this often means there's little middle ground with being overwhelmed with all their affection, and being lonely due to them running homeworld.

It’s not often they’ll have time to cuddle, but the ones who indulge you the most are Blue and Pink. Mostly happening in Blues Onsen.

This pairing are suckers for cuddles, so they’re more than happy to indulge.

As mentioned below, White will leave you covered in lipstick marks and all the diamonds chuckle about it. Blue will help you clean them off every time, and you’re glad she doesn’t wear lipstick either as you wouldn’t be getting any cleaner.

This also means you get special privileges and clearances due to your relationship, but there are still some places you can’t go. Mainly Yellows bubble chamber, none of them want you to worry or even be scared by the sight.

You might have belonged to a single court before, but not anymore. They’re all helping to design your new appearance to show off, now a part of all four courts.

Plenty of gems will react with confusion to outright disapproval, not that any of them will say anything. And the few that do… won’t be anymore.

She doesn’t use your actual name unless it’s something serious, so all you hear from her are pet names. They’re slight variations of ‘Starlight’ and ‘My Star’.

When it’s her time to keep you around you’ll be held in her hands, moved to her shoulders if she needs both hands for something.

Gladly indulges in pda, apart from the other diamonds, who would oppose her? This does leave you with lipstick marks every time.

Uses a mix of pet names and your actual name, though any given pet names are strictly for private use. The only exception is when something serious happens, then she can’t help but let one pet name slip.

Doesn’t carry you around often (as the others do that most of the time) but when she does, you’re staying on her shoulder, it’s safe and she knows where you are.

No pda, will not initiate it and will not give in if you try. One of the other diamonds will have to push before she does, even then it’s quick and she’s clearly blushing.

You’ll rarely hear your name from her mouth, all her pet names are sentimental. Such as ‘My Dear’ or ‘My [name]’.

When it’s her turn to carry you around, she’s not letting you down. You’re always in her hands being held close to her chest or on her shoulders.

Becomes a little embarrassed with pda but still holds you close and gives you quick kisses.

She uses all the pet names she can think of, then learns some more. Ranging from simple ‘Dear’ and ‘My Love’ to the dumbest human ones. (I can’t of any rn)

Really wants to carry you around like the other diamonds do but can’t due to her size, so she’ll carry you around like a cat. (think arms under yours and over your chest, like smaller kids do)

Has no shame giving you all kinds of affection, uses her status of being the smaller and youngest diamond to her advantage.

Rose doesn’t get a chance to see you up and close again for the next 1000 years.

When she appears and ‘poofs’ Pink Diamond, the others make a point of keeping you close and never leaving Homeworld. Even under the strict supervision of the three, it’s really hard to convince them.

The Crystal Gems are aware of your relationship, though they may be less than happy about it they won’t try to pull you apart.

Her love language is a mashup of physical touch and words of affirmation, if she had to only have one (which would need her to think for a hot minute), it would have to be physical touch.

Adores you too much not to keep picking you up, loves hearing your voice when she suddenly does it. Cannot keep her many hands off you.

This only increases as she can’t be around all the time no matter how much you both would love that, so she takes all the chances she can get with you. It’s becoming an often sight to watch her rush off with you after any fights she was needed for, returning to the temple later with Garnet and Pearl.

Even if you don’t see her when she’s formed either Garnet or Pearl (mostly Garnet, she likes seeing you happy) will hand you a bouquet of flowers, they’re a mix of orange and your favourite type and colour.

She has no shame with pda, gladly calls you every kind of pet name she can come up with. (You’re pretty sure Pearl and Garnet are trying to embarrass you after all this time)

She’s such a gentle lover, doesn’t matter if you’re a simple human or a gem that’s been through the war, she does her best to be conscious of her strength.

So when she carries you she’ll sit you on her shoulder or in the open palm of her many hands.

Would say her love language is quality time, doesn’t mind sitting in silence with you or just going about her day. As long as you’re by her side she’s happy.

Physical touch is a close second, it mostly comes from her love of you and just having you in her hands, knowing you trust her. But also keeps her from forgetting you’re with her, very conscious of her hands so when you're in them, she finds it very hard to forget.

She doesn’t have any abilities to make you gifts (like Sardonyx) so she goes looking for anything you might like, because of how stable this fusion is, Garnet is content to let her look around on her own, but might join her just because.

If you’re with her then she’s bringing you along, pointing out anything you might like and bringing it closer to look at.

If not then Pearl and Amethyst bring back Opals gifts, and it’s such a range of what they bring back. One day you’re given a whole flower bush then the next she’s handing you some ancient weapon. (Which Pearl will teach you to use if you want)

She’s such a show off, we all know this, but she doubles down now that you’re with her. Loves getting a reaction from you, prefers you excited and yelling for her, not at her.

If she had to choose a love language it would be physical touch, loves holding and carrying you around, helps when she starts showing off, knows that you’re safe.

Quality time is a very close second but that's just her showing off to you, cannot get enough of doing that. Will gladly bring you along when she starts destroying things.

Will bring you gifts, except that they’re not actually gifts, she’ll bring you whatever she can get her many hands on. It’s often items that she shouldn’t be bringing back that Garnet has to take later, Amethyst feels kinda bad so she’ll let you go through her many piles of junk and take something.

Won’t miss a second with you when she has the time, makes sure you know she’s around after whatever she was needed for. Doesn’t let anything keep her away from you and takes you places she probably shouldn’t, but as long as you’re happy she doesn’t care.

It wasn’t everyday someone new moved to Beach City, but most of those newcomers never stayed long after something else attacked the place. And they were always normal humans.

That’s what makes him and the other gems expected with the person, which was weird enough, it wasn’t a family or a group, it was a single person. A teenager.

He didn’t mean to spy on you but he couldn’t help it, walking past the bus stop as you stepped off. The wind was worse than usual, just enough for the sun to hit something sitting on your chest, shining and catching his attention.

Not able to notice what type of gemstone yours is before you’re walking off, pulling out a piece of paper. Aged, taped where edges have torn, and the page was full of writing. You never stopped looking around as you walked, partly worried, and confused. Soon enough you left his sight, and the sun was setting so he returned to the temple.

In between bites Steven spoke, ignoring Pearl telling him to stop, about the new person in town, cutting himself off before mentioning the shine. That was something he wanted to figure out before saying anything about it.

Over the next few days he kept seeing you sneak around the city, well, not sneaking around really. But every time he tries to get closer and talk, you just run off.

Not for long! As Steven makes a plan to finally talk to you.

So during the night, he sneaks out of the house. Moving around the city until he finds you also moving about, and when you got close enough he jumped out.

He didn’t mean to scare you, really! He was so excited to finally talk to you, so he was shocked when he slammed into a barrier.

Rubbing his head as he looked around at the barrier, it wouldn’t be long until the gems heard about this. It’s a mix of Pearl being worried about Steven suddenly leaving the temple so she’s about to follow him, and Amethyst calling out the huge gem wall.

You thought you would be able to defend yourself well enough as the gems wielded their weapons, but Steven stood in front of you. Not letting them get close until they put away their weapons.

Obviously they were shocked, another half-gem? Steven on the other hand was excited, there was someone like him.

Pulls you into his training sessions, while he loves the gems training got boring when it was just him, but now you’re here. Asks to spar and fight so much, he finds it so fun. Amethyst keeps score every time, cheering for whoever she feels like that day. (It’s mostly you)

Wants to know what you and your gem can do, the gems (being Pearl and Garnet, maybe Amethyst pops by) will happily help you figure it out.

When you do something new or well he’ll pull you into a hug, celebrating even if it’s something small.

If you’re dating will give you kisses, and he always does the loud ‘mwah’ after. He will not stop.

Will ask to fuse, unless you make it clear you’re uncomfortable, he will keep asking until it happens. And when you agree he plans out the day, where, when, everything. Wants it to be perfect.

It doesn’t happen as planned, you two and the gems were on a mission, it was meant to be quick and simple. To help you get your bearings, when everything went sideways.

The corrupted gem smashed a nearby building which sent chunks of stone flying, Steven rushed over to push you out of the way. With a flash you two had fused!

The gems were shocked but quickly turned to keep fighting, you and Steven took longer. He was more used to this than you were but you picked it up soon enough, using your newfound abilities to take down the corrupted gem.

Neither of you wanted to unfuse for a while, so you spent the day figuring your new self out.

Bit more romantic hcs now:

Sucker for cuddles, nearly every time the gems enter Stevens room you two are cuddled up together. They find it adorable, especially Garnet. She’ll let you two sleep in more often than not when it happens.

Has no issues with pda, gets a little embarrassed around the gems and his Dad, but won’t stop unless they start teasing him. Will throw himself across your lap when you sit on the couch.

Very likely to start pulling you around when you hold hands, this happens on most of your dates and days out.

A common place is the Beach City Funland, takes you on every ride and tries his hardest to win you any prize you want.
