Michael was born in Seattle, Washington to a line of FBI agents. His father was an agent as well as his grandfather. So, it just fell in line that Mike was the next to follow. But to be frank, Mike didn't know what else he would have done with his life. He wanted to make his father proud and this was the best way to do so.Â
Straight after high school, Michael joined the Seattle Police Academy and graduated with flying colors. After working on the force for a few years, he started working towards becoming an FBI agent. After several interviews, tests and field work, Mike was officially an agent and he started work right away. He bounced around from place to place, working primarily undercover.
One of Michael's biggest cases was working on a drug bust from a cartel in Mexico. When Mike first started looking into it, he had no idea that it stemmed to far more than just drug trafficking, but sex trafficking as well. He was in the thick of the case when he caught wind of a new drug mule in the city that was on the docket to be trafficked. Mike met with the person and a complication with the balloons of drugs and the man died. Knowing he had to do something, Mike swallowed the balloons, put on an accent similar to the man's and was taken my traffickers.
From there, he was held hostage, beaten and humiliated for close to two weeks before he got in touch with his FBI team. Mike fought from the inside to keep those men and women safe all while gathering intel about the cartel and the trafficking ring. Another week or so passed and the bust occurred. The FBI rescued the trafficked and arrested those involved with both rings.
Mike was gifted a medal on honor from the FBI for his work on the case. It was a bittersweet moment. He was happy for the recognition, however, the experience was life changing for him. Mike asked to be honorably discharged from the force and was gifted a large severance package for what he had experienced and his time under cover.
A couple months later, Michael received an invitation in the mail from the King's inviting him to the island. Mike being Mike was highly suspicious of the island and the validity of it. And while he was no longer on the force, he had to know more. So, he packed up his things and headed out to investigate just what was going on there.

Roman: Leave it to me to come up with something you've never been called before. I don't take that honor lightly, I assure you!!
Roman: You don't think you're sweet? I think you're one of the nicest, sweetest little peaches i've met! Your aura is bright. You have some darkness, but not really of your own accord. I can sense that you think you're bad, but you're actually not. I know this, because I do the same.
Roman: At this point it doesn't really matter what is leaked darling, I've been in porn so it's all already out there lmao
âMost people are sheep.â Thomas couldnât care less about the opinion of others. Even surrounded by some of the most powerful and influential men on the planet â he still didnât care one bit about their opinion. He had always been like that since he was a kid. If he would allow the opinions of others to dictate his future and his journey, he wouldnât be where he was today. To him⌠things were simple, really. Either you like it or not. If you did? Kudos for you, there was hope for you yet and if they didnât? Thomas wouldnât lose his sleep over that. âI donât usually give people second chances butâŚâ He gave Mike a shrug but he couldnât hide the smile that was lingering on his lips. Mike was⌠persistent when they met and that was something that both annoyed the living shit out of Thomas but also placed Mike on a different level than most people. âUsually when I tell someone to fuck off, they fuck off. But not you. You had more questions to ask and I weighted the pros and cons⌠and decided to give you a chance.â And he was thankful that he did. They wouldnât be half-naked in front of each other if they didnât play that 20 Questions game back at his office.
Fingers tapped the table as the words spoken by the former fed rang truth inside Thomasâ mind. They were pretty damn close when it came to score. The only advantage that he had were his shirt â versus Mike who was already showing off his body. And considering how tight the rounds had been, Thomas wouldnât be surprised if he would be the one naked at the end of it all. Well â if that was the case? So be it. He wouldnât back down from a challenge. He havenât before and he definitely wouldnât now. âAdmit it. You want to see me naked just as much as I want to see you.â Thomas could be a flirt when he felt like it but considering how excited Mike was and how casually he just raised his pants into the pot â Thomas knew enough of poker to know that the other man had a good hand. Good enough to collect another piece of his clothes.
âUh.â A pair of Kings and Aces. Defeated by kings against his pair of Jacks. âNot bad, Mr. Reynolds, Not bad at all.â With a chuckle, Thomas leaned down to slip one finger into his socks in order to remove them before standing up and grabbing the hem of his tank top. If he had to undressâŚ.? Fuck yes, he was going to put on a show. Thomas took his time peeling the last layer of fabric that concealed his torso, dragging the fabric slowly up his chest so that he could give Mike the best view of the house. Who wouldnât want to see his toned torso from countless hours at the gym at full display? Thomas finally pulled the shirt off and tossed it to Mike, gently patting his own chest in the process. Might as well give something for Mike to see. âHappy now?â Thomas flexed his arms a bit and licked his lips before wiggling his eyebrows ever so playfully at the other man. âTwo items to go for me and three for you â due to your socks. Not for much longer.â He was so damn close that there was no way in hell that he was going to lose this freaking game. His honor was on the line â alongside the chance of seeing Mike butt naked.
âDeal us in, handsome. I guess the time to play games is over and we both getting serious, uh?â
Mike wasn't sure if he should feel special or not that Thomas gave him a second chance. Shit, he would even call it a third chance. He knew that he didn't, particularly, make the best first impressions (especially not nowadays) but he was trying to do better at it. He was quickly understanding that people didn't like to be drilled with questions before anything else could be said, which he couldn't blame them for. It wasn't great. But he was glad that Thomas didn't give up. He truly was having a great time and he wanted to spend more time with the owner post the game ending. Just from their game of twenty questions tonight, there was more to unpack there. Mike as well.
His brows raised a bit at Thomas' question and he pulled his bottom lip into mouth to bite it for a moment before he smiled, "I'm not afraid to admit it." He said with a nod, "I'm curious. We've been playing this game a while now, I think it's only natural, right?" If Mike wasn't curious about what Thomas had hiding underneath, then he was probably on the wrong island, wasn't he?
It seemed that curiosity might be sated quicker than he thought. He won the round and it was the other man's turn to lose some clothes. His eyes stayed trained upon the man as he pulled off his shirt, clearly putting on a show for Mike. He leaned forward, placing his elbows onto the table, nodding his head, "Very." He chuckled, "Impressive." Mike couldn't deny that he liked what he was seeing. Thomas was essentially carved out of stone. The chiseled look suited him very well and while it was what Mike was expecting, he surpassed his expectations, "You must hit the gym a lot, huh?" He asked, "These beers must be killing you." Mike mentioned as he took another sip of his own.
Shuffling up the cards as he was asked, Mike took the time to make sure everything was good and shuffled. They had shuffled the cards so many times at this point that the cards were officially broken in and shuffling like a dream. After a few moments, he dealt each their two respective cards and flipped over the first. He then looked down at his own. From the best, to the worst. A two and a five. What the hell he was going to do with that? "Still betting the socks this go." He said with a nod, which was obvious. Those just had to go.
When the knock on the window to the balcony echoed inside his cabin, Patrick was already carrying the giant bowl of popcorn to the living room, placing it on top of the small wooden table at the center for the time being. Chances were they would get those between them in the couch but for now â central table was the best. âWelcome to my humble abode, darlinâ.â Patrick pushed open the balcony window to grant Mike passage to the interior, greeting the other man not only with his best and most sultry smile⌠but also with a rather sudden kiss on the cheek â just enough to brush their scruff together before pulling back. Hey â he had shot the damn target to get to kiss Mike on the cheek during the St. Patrickâs night. To hell with everything if he wasnât going to take full advantage of it now that he could do that.
âMake yerâself at home.â The personal trainer took Mike by the hand and guided him to the pristine white couch that they were going to stay in and stretched the other arm to show the whole interior of the cabin. âBet yerâs look the same as this. I didnâ change anythinâ.â He didnât want to, didnât have time to and quite honestly⌠found it a completely waste of time to add a personal touch to it. It wasnât all that different from living at a hotel. âYeâ have salty popcorn there⌠question is â whatâcha drinkinâ? I got⌠water, energy drinks, beersâŚâ Not something he drank but on occasion and with the right company, Patrick could indulge. âI didnâ buy any sodas âcase that shit is nasty to yerâ health.â And he havenât had a fucking soda in years.
âYeâ can stay there in the couch while I get us drinks andâŚâ There was a moment when he paused, raising one finger almost as if something was missing. Letting go of Mikeâs hands, Pat leaned over the couch â making the tank top and shorts that were already tight to fully compliment his damn figure ( maybe he was doing that on purpose ), before pulling the remote from behind one of the pillows. âThere! Found the lilâ bastard! Whenever yeâ ready⌠we can start.â And they would sit side by side on the couch unless Mike had something against that. âAre yeâ ready to understand why seeinâ yeâ shoot the other night gave me a massive hard-on? Itâs Keanu Reeves we talkinâ âbout âere. That alone⌠says it all.â
Mike should have expected a kiss on the cheek from Patrick as he guided him inside his home. He had worked hard for it on Saint Patrick's Day, "I was going to make you hit a bullseye for another one of those." He mentioned then quickly smiled, clearly joking. Mike didn't mind. He was gathering that it was just who Patrick was. Naturally flirty. He practically had been from the moment they met. His gaze drifted down towards their hands for a moment before he looked around the cabin, noting it was extremely similar to his... There was just nothing special in there. Like Patrick didn't intend to stay long.
Interesting.
"Essentially. I have some odds and ends around but--" He shrugged. Mike couldn't talk too much. He didn't have a lot around either but his cabin, at least, looked lived in. Hearing him mention drinks, Mike nodded, "That makes sense. I couldn't see you drinking a soda anyway." Patrick would probably rather be parched than drink something like that, "Beer would be great." He nodded. The very, very few movies he had seen over the years, beer was usually accompanied the experience. There was just something about sipping on a beer and eating popcorn. It reminded him of going to a baseball game. When he was in college, Mike spent a lot of time at those (and he barely even liked baseball, they were just something to do).
His head nodded at Pat's statement and he took a seat on the couch, "Sure." He muttered softly as his gaze fell upon the man now leaning over the couch. Mike smiled a bit. Patrick definitely knew what he was doing. He must have been a very popular staff member. As that thought crossed his mind, Mike wondered how hard it was for Patrick to break that mindset, if he even had. His overwhelming need to get Mike to smile seemed like something a staff member would want, not a client. It was an interesting dynamic. Folding one leg over the other, Mike also folded his arms across his chest, "Keanu Reeves was Neo, right?" He called out to Patrick, "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure too." See? He knew some things. Then his gaze narrowed, "You find Keanu Reeves attractive?" Mike had never really seen the guy like that, but he supposed he was a heart throb back in the Matrix days.
Oh, he had absolute no intention to tell anyone about the slightly wronged tile since he would be using that little tidbit of information to guide his sorry ass inside the Haus â even more so when coming out to eat to Mikeâs election of a dinner. The name alone was intriguing. Calypso . A sea nymph often mentioned to be the one representing platonic love and unrequited love. What an odd choice for a name to a restaurant⌠but Dave could understand the whole concept around the name considering they were in a tropical island. All he could do now was wonder if there were other parts of the island that were also named after Greek myths. That would be a cool concept. And he could always ask Mike or venture for himself around the island⌠once he had gotten more experience with the whole landmark thing. That⌠was probably for the best.
As Mike accepted his arm, Dave could feel his cheeks burning as they entered the restaurant, a polite smile to the waiters as he merely followed Mike to one of the booths in the corner and once Mike had slid to his own seat â David shortly followed and sat across the table from the other man, quickly thanking him for the menu. âJust because she was used to that and knew that there was a very large chance that youâd follow in their footsteps⌠doesnât mean it was easy to hear.â It was already hard to have one son or daughter in the army⌠let alone joining the ranks in Quantico and being sent lord knew where in the world. âI get the whole dad thing. My dad always wanted for me to follow in his footsteps since I was a kid. I donât remember wanting to be anything else other than a politician. I was never really⌠given a choice.â
Maybe he could have been a doctor or a teacher or⌠something else. But now, he would never know.
âShe accepted it, eventually. I mean â like your own mother, not much she could do about it. All my father always cared about was politics and I grew up in that world. It was as much part of me as anything else.â And being a politician did allow him to be closer to his father. Follow in his footsteps, make him proud⌠too bad Jonah would never have the chance to prove himself in the eyes of their parental unit. âOk, I have two questions!â David was all smiles and he could feel such a carefree vibe coming from Mike that it was impossible not to be sucked in that same relaxed mood. âFirst, have you ever wanted to be something else other than what you ended up being? And secondâŚ?â His eyes moved to the menu and David stretched his legs under the table, nearly yelping the moment he felt his leg brush against Mikeâs. âUh⌠S-Sorry. I didnât mean to uhâŚ. T-That! I ⌠w-w-what are you having?!â The best thing he could do now was quickly change the subject before he would dig himself deeper into an already open grave. âAny⌠recommendations?â
Hearing Dave's statement, Mike softly chewed on the corner of his lip and he flicked his brows, "I mean...yeah." He admitted softly, "I never really...asked her about it, I guess. It was just how it was." Now he felt bad for not thinking about his mother more in that situation but there was really no changing it now. "My mom is tough. She's been married to my dad for over forty years. She's used to it." He mentioned with a nod. His mom was a great lady. It was a shame that over the past decade, Mike rarely got to see her. And now that he was retired, he was spending all his time on some island in the middle of the ocean. What a shitty fucking son he was.
He nodded in understanding as the other spoke of his father situation. While their lives were different, they seemed to be able to understand what it was like growing with a father expecting something so big of you, "I feel like... a lot of politician families don't." He mentioned with a frown, "It's just something that runs in the family. I imagine it's difficult to separate the two aspects of your life." Mike really had no idea, but it seemed like it would be hard. At least his mother accepted his job. That was one, small win.
His brow raised at David's next question before they immediately furrowed as well as his lips pressing together into a tight line. Mike had never thought about it. He just knew that the FBI was his future. The next question seemed to be tougher for Dave, especially after he accidentally brushed his leg against his own. It was obvious that the other got nervous about those types of things, but it was really nothing. Reaching out, Mike softly patted Dave on the hand, his way of saying 'everything is fine' before he looked down to his menu again, "Well, I think I want a burger and some onion rings. I can't recommend those more." He mentioned, then dropped his menu and folded his hands, "The job question though...that's hard." He admitted and sighed, shaking his head, "It never occurred to me want to be anything else..." How stupid was that? "It's all I've known." Mike frowned a bit, suddenly feeling like he missed out on something important, "What's yours?" Maybe that would trigger something in his mind.

Considering how many items of clothing the two of them still had left, it made sense for them to play it safe for now â leaving the big bets for the last rounds where the ultimate goal would be to get the other one butt naked. Thomas glanced over his cards as well â nothing extraordinary but the game could go either way â and couldnât help but chuckle at the concept of losing clothes via a poker game. He usually undressed because he wanted to. He saw an attractive man and wanted to have sex with him so his clothes would come out fairly easily when the time came. To lose item by item in a strip poker game was not something Thomas havenât done before but it was interesting to admire the concept of⌠if he wanted to be seen naked or wanted to see Mike naked⌠they were going to have to finish this game. âYou are putting up a fight.â Thomas bite down his bottom lip as he pushed his empty beer away in order to collect a new one. He was going to sweat his ass off tomorrow for drinking those tonight but⌠the price was worth it. âIâm impressed. Most people would be naked by now and I would be walking right out the door with new items for my closet.â
Throwing three cards to the center of the table and collecting three more, Thomas could see that his hand hasnât improved at all. It was just that pair of Jacks and he would have to do the most of it if he wanted to squeeze as much as he could from this round. âYour normal personality is just fine, from what I am seeing.â Thomasâ gaze turned to Mike and the corner of his lips curled into a half-smile. He had no idea how professional Mike was but he could only assume he was an annoying son of a bitch considering how he had succeeded in annoying him over the course of their first two meetings, all of those questions making Thomas want to strangle him and toss his body into the deep sea. âI was not a fan of you interrogating me when we first met but⌠it was part of who you are and you canât kick the fed out of the man, I believe.â And look at how far the two of them had come. From annoyance and slightly homicidal tendencies to sitting across a table, sharing things about their past and wanting to see the other naked. Life truly knew when to throw monumental curveballs their way.
âYou want me to bet my socks too?â One eyebrow rose as Thomas glanced down at his cards once more. There was a chance for him to win that round â but there was always a chance that he would lose. And losing his shirt and socks wouldnât be as tragic. Maybe he would end up distracting Mike as much as Mike was distracting him being shirtless and overall attractive. âGod forbids me not spicing things up for you, handsome. Very well.â Thomas took a sip from his beer, feeling the alcohol slowly slide down his throat as he ended up nodding. âIâll raise my socks alongside my shirt this round. What are you raising? Your pants?â It had to be the pants. The underwear would always be the last thing to go. âSo close to finally see you in your birthday suit! My curiosity is growing.â Maybe not just his curiosity but Mike didnât need to know that.
A smirk crossed his lips at Thomas' comment, and he shrugged a shoulder, "I'm a scrapper." He mentioned. It was one of the reasons why he was he was still alive, he believed. If Mike didn't fight, he probably would have been killed on the field five years ago, "It's fun to have some competition, right?" He asked with a cock of his brow. He didn't think he had been reading the whole night wrong, "I would say I would give up but--" He shrugged, "I think I have a good chance." Mike wasn't much for giving up either. Unless it was giving up his career, then apparently, he was fine with it. In most cases, Mike would fight tooth and nail. But maybe he was just tired of fighting for a while.
Finishing his current bottle of beer, he listened to Thomas speak about his annoyance about their first couple of meetings and Mike couldn't help but laugh, "I'm...sorry about that." He mentioned softly but at least Thomas seemed to understand. It wasn't very easy for Mike to just...sit back and not question every little thing he was seeing. Especially when it came to something like the Haus of Perses. And while Thomas didn't exactly know what had perspired that caused him to retire, if he did, it would probably make that much more sense, "I'm glad you gave me another shot. Most don't." Mike really was. In his opinion, it seemed like the two of them were getting along great and he was eager to see what happened next with them.
As Thomas weighed his wager, the agent reached out and grabbed himself another beer and popped the top off with a satisfied smile, "I'll raise my pants, yep." He nodded. The further the game went, the more curious they both became, and Mike really wanted to get Thomas out of that shirt and even playing field with those socks of his, "You're not much further away." He told the King with a smirk, "I might be seeing yours first." With that, Mike revealed his hand of two aces and two kings. It was pretty hard to beat that. Grabbing another handful of chips, Mike flicked his brows and a smile on his face as he leaned back into his chair, curious about the hand Thomas had.
Location: Patrickâs cabin
Closed to: @mreynoldsx
Patrick placed his hands on his hips as he looked around his own cabin â checking if he had everything he needed for the first of four movie nights with Mike Reynolds, for he really couldnât let it slip that the other client had NEVER seen the damn John Wick movies. Those movies were almost like a religion for so many and after watching Mike handle a gun back at the shooting range, Patrick had to admit that⌠he liked what he saw. Sure, the other client was still very much of a mystery wrapped into an enigma but they were getting somewhere. The light flirting at the end of the night, the fact that he had succeeded in making Mike actually laugh was also something that Patrick considered a victory⌠and now this. The first of four âdatesâ where he would introduce Mike to the best franchise there was when it came to movies and pretty much show the other man the reason why he had become aroused when he saw him shoot the target that night.
There was just something fucking hot about a man shooting a target with that much confidence.
The personal trainer scanned his cabin for the second time that night. The decoration was absolutely generic, no traces of anything personal from his past. There was no need for Patrick to bring out some mementos to his childhood or souvenirs from the places he had been. The one things that didnât really come with the cabin was the punching bag that he had outside in the balcony for his early morning or late night workouts and the dumbbells on the ground⌠and a picture of a very young Patrick next to his mother in his bedroom, right by his bed. Those were the only things that didnât quite fit with the harmonic decoration of the cabin but at the same time⌠Patrick didnât need to decorate things at his own taste. Generic was fine. Generic was good enough for he didnât need people to learn things about him from the items that he would put in display.
As the hour for the movie got near, Patrick jogged to the shower in order to take a quick one before getting dressed with a casual tank top and shorts â they were in a tropical island â and bolt to the kitchen in order to prepare some popcorn for the night. As the time approached, Patrick snatched his phone from his back pocket in order to send Mike a text, telling him to come via the balcony door since it was already unlocked and opened âbecause who didnât like a cool breeze in warm nights?
[ text ]: The balcony is open so feel free to come in through there.
[ text ]: Also, sweet or salty popcorn?
There was a large part of Mike that didn't actually think Patrick was going to 'ask him out' or whatever they were calling it. Watching a movie with him sounded like a fun night and he was hoping he'd be able to glean a bit more information about the guy as they hung out more. Sure, he saw him a lot at the gym but that was the gym. They weren't really shooting the shit. Well, at least Mike wasn't. He wasn't much for chatting when he was working out because he was there to work and it was honestly his least favorite part of the day. He just did it because it was something he was so used to.
So, when Patrick actually did text him, he was a bit surprised but accepted the offer. Plus, if those John Wick movies were as good as Patrick said, he was supposed he should see them. Mike had years of movies to catch up on so starting with those would help the knock a few off the never-ending list. After jumping out of the shower and standing in his bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, Mike took the time to clean up his beard since he knew he could easily sway to the homeless look if he didn't do that every few days.
Once satisfied, he wandered over towards his bedroom and threw on a comfortable tank top and some jeans. He had shorts but when he got the text from Patrick about the balcony, jeans felt like the right choice. Grabbing his phone, he shot a message back to Patrick:
[text]: Sounds good. I'll be there soon.
[text]: Always salty.
Slipping his phone into pocket, Mike exited his bedroom, threw on his sandals, and exited his cabin. With his hands tucked behind his back, he wandered on over towards Patrick's cabin and found himself at the balcony like the man told him. Still, he knocked on the frame of the door and popped his head in, "Hello?" He asked aloud. Mike always felt weird just walking into someone's home, even when they told him.
David was relieved that he wasnât digging himself a much deeper grave than needed â for Mike appeared to read between the lines of his chaotic rant that seemed to become a lot more common right there at the island. It had something to do with the fact that he didnât usually talked to guys so openly outside the Haus. Always having to keep himself professional, knowing that there was always some paparazzi following him and waiting for some monumental scandal that they could use to destroy his political career. But⌠nerves aside, it was really easy to talk to Mike. Words were coming up with nothing but honesty and genuine interest and the fact that Dave didnât have to pretend to be someone that he was not was⌠it felt so damn good. Not only his mental health was thankful for that but David had the chance to remember the man he was deep down rather than the imagine he had to pass onto the world. âWell, I am always available whenever you need someone to talk. Or not. We can just sit in quiet contemplation of the mysteries of the universe or something.â
Hearing Mike mention that he was a rainbow baby made David chuckle â for in a way, he understood that a little bit. Sure, his father had two kids but his mother only had him as far he was aware and she was already over protective of him. He couldnât imagine how it was for Mikeâs mother, having a child so late in life. That must have made her triple concerned about everything he did and didnât do. âDo you mind if I ask how did she react when you decided what to do with your life? I mean â itâs not exactly a nine to five secure desk job or anything. My mom used to freak over the slightest little thing, so I canât imagine how yours digested your career choice. My mother never wanted for me to follow politics. She was married to one and she knew what the cost of that was⌠she often mentioned I was selling my soul and wasnât that much different from a lawyer.â His mom HATED lawyers. âDid yours⌠accept it well or took some convincing?â
At the little question of if Mike could call him Dave, all David could do at that point was smile and nod toward his friend as he gently nudged Mike yet again as they appeared to come closer to the chosen restaurant for the night. âIâd like that. My friends call me Dave. And⌠Iâd like to believe that we are already becoming friends.â Shit â such a corny thing to say but it did warm Davidâs heart to hear Mike call him that. It meant that even despite his rambling and tendency for getting lost â Mike was ok with being close to him and spend time together. However, the most fascinating thing was yet to happen. As David was still coming down from the little high of being called Dave, his eyes followed Mikeâs indications to the tile that was different from the others. It was placed a little bit too much to the right and it was one of those landmarks that Mike had mentioned before. One not as obvious as a palm tree but still â a landmark.
âDo I even want to ask how you noticed this?â David leaned closer to the tile and poked it with one finger, giving Mike a rather curious look. âI mean, Iâm sure you have to be very observant considering your occupation but⌠this?â Who would noticed a tile being a bit too much to the right and being different from all others? Well, a very trained eye. Mike did. âWhen I think you canât impress me even more, you prove me wrong.â Dave chuckled and after a second of pondering about something, he playfully offered Mike his arm to take if he wanted to. âIâm sure Iâll have a lot more questions to drop on your lap during dinner. You intrigue me, Mike. In the good way, I mean. Not in the bad. You just⌠are unlike anyone I have ever met.â
Mike immediately felt better about calling him Dave when the other agreed it was what he preferred for his friends to call him. That was nice. They were certainly becoming fast friends, in his opinion. The ease of conversation and the somehow familiarity that David brought made everything easier for them, he felt. He smiled a bit as the man questioned about how he found the tile, clearly intrigued by it and Mike shrugged his shoulders, "It's just something I picked up on. Here, you'll see." As the other offered his arm, Mike smiled and softly grabbed it, moving along with Dave to the entrance to the Calypso's.
Turning them both around, the retired agent pointed ahead, "You can't miss it now that I pointed it out, right?" He asked, his brow raising. That was one thing that he always noticed when he walked to the restaurant, "Don't tell the King's. They'll have it fixed in a heartbeat and then I'll have to find a new trick." He joked before he nodded his head, "C'mon." Mike turned back around and guided them inside the restaurant, picking out a booth in the corner. Sliding inside, he grabbed the menus from the back of the table and passed one over to his new friend.
"I wasn't blowing off your question." Mike mentioned as he opened up his menu, "Just thought we could sit." He chuckled, "My father and grandfather were both agents, so my mom just assumed it was the path I was going to take. She wasn't happy about it but--" He shrugged, "Not much she could do about it. My dad primed me for it my whole life." Looking back, it explained a lot about Mike. He really was just a product of his father. Perhaps his whole life he didn't know much about his own identity. How sad was that? Almost forty-years-old and just now figuring out himself? "Did your mother eventually come to terms with your job then?" He asked, genuinely curious, "It's hard when parents don't exactly see eye to eye with you on such a big part of your life."
"I get that," Kane shrugged, "it was always sports I was doin' as a kid, so didn't get chance t'watch movies much. Most of the shit I've seen was when I was travellin' on planes an' stuff travellin' between fights." Some movies captured his interest when advertised, but most of the movies he watched and enjoyed were just luck. "Of course I wanna," he reached across the table to let his hand rest on Mikes, "full honesty, yer like, the first client t'not expect anythin' from me. Not demand anythin' from me. An' if yer gonna stay that way, then fuck yeah I wanna sit an' watch movies with ye fer an entire evenin'. Stops me havin' to..." he stopped, moving his hand from Mike's as he leant back into his seat, "...doesn't matter."
Kane paused again, that single intrigued eyebrow raising once more. "Undercover?" He needed to make sure he got that part right. "Are you a fuckin' spy?" Quiet Mike suddenly became a lot more interesting, and despite them silently deciding not to speak about their jobs, it seemed to be taking that turn. "I suggested it at the meetin' with my management team, with a few other names, an' they picked the best one. Someone said once it ain't how it's said but I told 'em t'go fuck 'emselves. When it's written down it looks right so who gives a fuck." He just said it how he saw it, figured it sounded the same as his name and had pushed hard for it. "When I'm fightin', people look at me like I'm king o'the fuckin' world, but when I ain't...I'm just the dumb but pretty hillbilly, y'know?"
How this had gotten so deep he wasn't quite sure, and he wasn't even that far into his whiskey yet, but he finished the rest of his current glass before catching the eye of the waiter once more and ordering another. But back to the mundane questions. Honestly, he wasn't sure what he was expecting from the weekday question, but he made a mental note not to order the whiskey that had honey infused in it when he was with Mike. "Think we had a Manny Rodriguez in school too," he chuckled, pretty sure he'd given that kid a hard time over the years, "an' no...no I didn't think I would. Like I said...ye ain't got any expectations fer me. Ye ain't pushin' me to my knees everytime ye see me, ain't demandin' shit from me. I ain't..." he shook his head, looking away from the other for the first time, "I ain't supposed t'be here...doin' this shit..."
His gaze shifted from Kane's eyes down to their hands for a moment, a bit surprised from the soft touch. It did help settle his worries about everything. Everything was up to Kane, in Mike's opinion. He nodded his head, "I'm not changing." The man stated simply. It wasn't in his interest to do so. His eyes softened a bit when Kane spoke then quickly cut himself off, not wanting to say more, apparently. It would be a lie to say that his curiosity was starting to get the best of him again. It was taking a lot of out of him not to just ask every question under the sun.
He chuckled a bit at Kane's question about him being a spy and he recognized mentioning undercover without context would lead to that conclusion. Scratching his temple, he shook his head, "Sorry, no, no. I was in the FBI." He mentioned, "Worked undercover jobs for the last decade." He nodded. He knew they weren't supposed to talk about work, but it was such a big part of Mike. It was the only part of Mike that he knew, "Sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up." He quickly threw out there with another shake of his head. Luckily, he could focus on something that Kane said instead, "That's not true." He said simply, "Why would you say that?"
Leaning forward onto his elbows, Mike's gaze stayed upon Kane even as he turned his away for what felt like the first time. Mike hated to hear that... That he wasn't supposed to be there. The more Kane spoke, the more it was obvious how much he hated his position. It was understandable (from what little Mike knew), "Is there no other options for you?" He asked, tilting his head a bit, "Why was this the path?" Mike just didn't understand, "And you have to have money, right? Why not stay here as a client?" It was all just so confusing to him. Mike sighed a bit and he turned his gaze away from Kane, "Sorry." He muttered, "I just...it's hard to hear that you're so...reluctant being here." It brought Mike right back to his last case and it just made him want to fight for Kane like he did for everyone else, even if it wasn't his place.

Though the other was waving off his attempts at an apology, Theo knew that it wasnât just quite enough. Some things needed to be said out loud. And after all the things he heard, all the more did he oddly find himself gravitating toward the older male.
When Mike patted his knee, his gaze remained unbroken towards him. âI hope you know⌠that I feel really grateful that you bothered to let me know about this.â he quietly admitted, meeting his eyes. âI donât think you tell anyone much about yourself, let alone actually entertain a particularly annoying staff member, so⌠thank you.â It was the least he could say to someone who had taken the actual time out of their day to indulge him in his relentless requests.
And he wasnât quite done. âI hope you also know that you can text or call me for anything. Even if itâs just someone to drink with.â the younger one offered, gracing a soft smile his way. âYou donât have to, but⌠you knowâŚ. offer's there.â
He could feel the staff's eyes steady upon him and Mike tried his best to keep his gaze anywhere else...but it felt rude to do so. So, eventually, he turned his blue eyes towards the other, listening to him speak. Mike didn't mind talking about himself...he just wasn't used to it. For the last decade, he just couldn't. For most of the time, Mike wasn't himself. Everything he told those people he infiltrated undercover had a mix of truth and a lie. He didn't want them to know too much about him, but he also didn't want to come off as untruthful. It was a delicate line he toed.
"You're welcome." He answered softly. To be honest, he didn't expect much more from Theo but when the other mentioned texting or calling him, a smile couldn't help but cross over his lips, "I appreciate it." Mike did. It was nice to know that someone was there, "I will...I will do that." He nodded, "But you know, please don't feel obligated to...answer or...hang out with or anything." That was one of Mike's biggest worries about the staff members; that they were just doing everything because they had to. He didn't want that. If he was going to spend time with a staff member, it was going to be by their own volition.
Thomas was definitely enjoying where this night was going. He was learning so many things about the other man â and showing bits of himself as well â that honestly⌠why didnât they do this sooner? Mike was actually funny. And flirty. And he didnât back down from a challenge which was way more than Thomas could say about a large portion of the island. No one would ever want to piss off the Kings and it was that very same fear that kept them all in the role of obedient little sheep. But Mike was⌠challenging him. Making him work for that win. And now that he was doing that shirtless and distracting Thomas every few seconds or so, even the King had to admit that maybe he didnât have this game in the bag as he thought he did. And for once? He really wouldnât mind if he was the one losing. He was already winning in so many other aspects through the night.
Bringing his beer to his lips â that one was almost over, so needed to be replaced â he waited for the cards to be dealt and while his hand was not ideal⌠- a pair of Jacks again â it wasnât necessarily terrible. And if there was one time for him to go for the throat and attempt to get Mike completely naked⌠it was going to be now. âIâm just going to go and bet my shirt again.â Thomas patted his chest. He had four garments left. Shirt, pants, socks and underwear. His goal for the round was making Mike lose at least two â since he would be unable to bet all three without going all-in. The all-in saving grace would be for the last round. What better way to end the game then with a spectacular finisher?
But as Mike mentioned his scars â and told him the story of the one on his abdomen â Thomas narrowed his eyes and responded merely with a shrug. âI donât mind scars. They are a part of you.â It would bring some bad memories of things that happened, sure⌠but at the same time, those were all mementos to the times where he could have died but didnât. âI donât think thatâs an ugly scar, but thatâs just me. I kind of find it hot. Gives you⌠personality.â And he wouldnât mind running his lips and tongue over that scar at a later date. It was every bit of Mike as the rest of his body. âI have one scar that is still visible.â Thomas chuckled and patted his left leg under the table. âI have one on my left knee from when I was a kid. I was climbing a tree - or trying because Iâm no fucking monkey â and ended up falling and stabbing my knee in a broken branch. Itâs a small scar, but itâs there. Nothing as interesting or hot as yours, Iâm afraid.â
His brow raised when Thomas bet his shirt and Mike looked down at what was remaining on him. Not much. Socks and underwear. And he certainly wasn't going to lose those before the socks, "Well, I'll bet the socks then. Save the best for last, I suppose." Mike was pretty confident he'd be keeping the socks this round and then he and Thomas would even keel after that. It was going to really come down the to wire and Mike loved it. He couldn't remember the last time he had a game of poker with so much back and forth. Thomas was a really great player, there was no doubt about that. But even more than the game, Mike was enjoying the company. Even in a place with so many people, he still felt a bit lonely, which was his own fault.
Michael shifted his gaze down towards his torso again, noting the various scars there. Considering he had been on the force for over a decade and working to take down some of the most dangerous people, he didn't think he had done too bad for himself. Two bullet wounds on the front of his torso, along with the stab wound. And then there was a scar on his back from getting shot in the back once. One his team, there were men who had far worse in injuries. Granted, Mike had plenty of mental and emotional things he was still working through, and he wasn't sure when he'd recover from that...
"My normal personality isn't all that great." He joked, although there was a large bit of truth to it considering Mike was practically relearning himself. He smiled a bit at Thomas' tale about his scar, before he nodded at his comment about his own scars, "At least they're attractive. I'll take it." Mike mentioned with a flick of his brow as he flipped the next cards for the current round, "Why don't we spice up the pot with those socks of yours?" Mike asked with a soft cheeky grin.
It felt kind of refreshing to actually spend time with a guy that wouldnât⌠judge him to harshly over his tendency to get lost in the most casual of environments. Ever since he could remember, David had a knack to get lost. And after a while â he learned how to turn that into some sort of joke because he was a tad tired of the curious looks that people gave him when he shared that bit of information with them. Most people didnât believe him at all but after hanging out with him a little bit, they eventually learned that he wasnât exaggerating at all. If he had a business dinner or something, if it wasnât for his car GPS, chances were that he would need to leave his place almost two hours early just to account on the wrong turns he would make along the way. And Mike seemed ok with that side of him⌠which was pretty much the first individual that had no qualms with his tendency to get lost. Most people just⌠didnât exactly care for that was not their problem.
âYouâd stick around even if I wasnât interesting?â God damn â David could feel his cheeks burning as he tried to swallow a laugh at Mikeâs words, feeling like a little teenage boy all over again that didnât quite know how to handle compliments. That was a compliment, right? That even if he wasnât interesting enough, a guy like Mike would still hang out with him. âIs it my charming personality or my dashing good looks?â Not that David was trying to flirt but those words just slipped past his lips in a way of a joke with the politician quickly withdrawing his hands from his jeans to wave them in front of Mike. âIâm joking! Iâm joking! Please donât answer that question. Iâm mortified enough for having said that in the first place.â Again, talking with attractive guys never failed to make a mess out of him and even when he tried to be confident, David would still find a way to trip on his own words. âIâll stick around too. Not just since youâre my impromptu knight in shining armor but⌠I like talking to you. Itâs⌠easy.â
Davidâs attention was now further ahead. Thinking about the meeting with Jonah and already feeling the palms of his hands getting all sweaty due to anxiety. âI need to get alone with him somehow, you know? I canât approach him in public for I donât want to make a spectacle out of it.â It was no one elseâs problem but his own. âBy calling him to my cabin under the pretext of wanting a massage or something, Iâll have the necessary time to introduce myself and explain why Iâm there and⌠hope for the best.â After a moment of deep contemplation, David shook his head as he was brought back to the present by Mikeâs words, which easily made a laugh roll from his lips. âAs far as I am aware, I donât have any more siblings. One secret brother is already too much to handle, let alone discovering my dad â or mom â had a whole entire family out there. Thatâs⌠scary.â He wouldnât put it past his father who already succeeded in getting ONE son outside of marriage. âWhat about you?â David nudged Mike playfully on his shoulder as they walked. âDo you have any siblings? You have this big brother vibe but maybe Iâm saying that cause youâre helping me around. N-Not that I uh⌠see you as a brother. Hell no. That would⌠uh⌠be sooooo wrong for so many reasons! Not that you wouldnât be a nice big brother but there⌠things⌠uhâŚâ Shit. David was burning now. âIâm going to just shut the hell up.â
It wasn't very often that Mike met someone similar to David. Working on the police force, people didn't often wear their heart on their sleeve, so to speak, and he could tell that the man beside was much like that. It was different, but nice. It intrigued Mike. Someone like David could be good for him. It could open him up to new things that he hadn't felt in a long time. He was curious if it was going to happen. He smiled a bit at the others comment before he quickly took it back. That tracked for the man beside him, from what Mike knew. He nodded at his comment, "It is easy." He mentioned, "I need something like that." The easier it was to talk to someone, the more open Mike was.
He listened as the other spoke of his family and he chuckled softly at the mention of another secret family, "That would be a lot to deal with." Which most definitely wasn't fun. He was glad that Jonah was the only one. It would be very fair if there was another long lost sibling out there for David. Mike shook his head at the man's question, "Nah, just me." He mentioned, "I'm a rainbow baby. My mom wasn't supposed to be able to have kids and somehow, here I am." He was fairly certain him being their miracle baby was one of the reasons why his mom was so concerned with Mike following his father and grandfather's footsteps. She didn't want to lose her only son.
His gaze shifted slowly towards the man as he dug himself a hole deeper and deeper with each sentence. And it wasn't even with Mike. Mike understood what he meant the first time and really didn't think anything of it. It was definitely David overthinking it. It was sweet, "You're fine, Dave." Pause, "Can I...call you Dave?" He asked then spoke again, "I understand what you mean. It was a fine assessment of me." The case that caused his retirement, Mike acted like the big brother to all those poor people trapped with him there. He was there to protect them, one way or another,
Clearing his throat, he pointed ahead, "Calypso's is right ahead. You can tell it's coming up because--" He paused their walk and pointed a tile that was right before them. It was placed over to the right too much. It was the only tile in the whole Haus of Perses that Mike had noticed was like that, "--of this tile. See how it's placed wrong? When you see that, Calypso's is coming up." He then proceeded to move and within a minute or so, there was the casual restaurant, "Make sense? Any questions?"
"Ye don't know what that is?" Kane shouldn't be surprised, not everyone had time to see every single movie, but it was a natural thing to take offense when your all time favourite movie hadn't been seen right? "Okay tell ye what, book me one evenin', an' book out the theatre an' we can watch it. I'm sure they'll have it here. Do a double feature, my favourite movie first, then your favourite movie, deal?" Sure it meant being booked for an evening, but it got him out of other work, away from other clients. "What is yer favourite movie anyway?"
"Pineapple. If anyone says anythin' other than pineapple or somethin' shit like anchovies, they ain't someone I wanna be associated with," Kane just needed a pizza with as much meat on it as possible. "Best birthday gift? I uh..." he scratched at the back of his head, brown furrowing tightly in thought, "I uh...I dunno...actually. I got a nice watch once but..." he couldn't think of anything worthy of note, nothing that he could remember being super excited about. In fact he couldn't really remember many birthdays and he let out a deflated breath.
"Pass, we'll come back to that," a quick brush off and it was fine, and they certainly wouldn't be coming back to that topic, "but dogs. Always dogs. They couldn't call me the Mad Dog, that name was taken, so we opted for Kane "Corso" Bentley, like the dog, y'know them big mastiff lookin' things?" Good companions. Good guard dogs. The irony of it all now. "Okay, favourite day o'the week? Any allergies? Aaaaand...name of yer childhood best friend?"
He shook his head as he took another sip of his drink, "Unfortunately, I didn't have a whole lot of time for movies over this past decade. There's a lot I have to catch up on." He chuckled, "I mostly only had time for quick TV shows, you know? Like those...thirty minute sitcoms." They weren't great but they were enough to take his mind off work when he finally had a little down time. His brow raised a bit when the staff member suggested renting the theater and watching their favorite movies. It didn't sound like a bad time, "Only if you want." Mike mentioned. He was sticking firmly to his plan of only doing what the staff wanted when he was with them. He hummed quietly at the next question, "Hm...probably Cool Hand Luke." He shrugged, "Old movie. But I would use Luke a lot when I was undercover as my name." He admitted with a shake of his head.
Mike's brows flicked up at the mention of his nickname in fighting and he nodded his head, "That makes sense." He was fairly certain the dogs breed wasn't pronounced like Kane's name, but he understood the reference, "How do you come up with names like that?" He asked, "Do you do it? Or do the commentators?" Mike suddenly had so many questions about his job and how things worked. But he knew that Kane didn't really want to be Kane the fighter right now, so he would hold those for another day.
His lip curled up at the next batch of questions, "Uh...Sunday, I guess. None of them are particularly a favorite and I'm allergic to honey." His face settled as he thought about the last question, "I had two best friends growing up. Emmanuel Rodriguez and Ryan Bolton. We were best friends until we got to high school then we all just...split up." He shrugged. He wondered how they were. Pushing that thought aside, he released a breath, "Did you expect to be sitting here, getting a casual drink with someone today?"
He smiled a bit as Patrick came over to admire his handiwork on the target as well and he released soft laugh at his question. It was a fair one, âMostly that you asked.â Mike mentioned. It would be a lie to say to that he wasnât having fun knowing how worked up Patrick got about it. It was entertaining for him and a first, he was fairly certain. Mike didnât typically go out of his way to make people âhot and botheredâ and, really, it wasnât his intention with Patrick⌠It was just a side effect. âI did want to shoot again though.â He added in, âThat was why I came here.â He chuckled.
Patrick said that he didnât have to thank him, but Mike still felt like he should. He recognized that a shooting range wasnât really most peopleâs cup of tea and he felt bad for dragging the guy there. Sure, he ended up enjoying it in some modicum but not enough to not warrant the thanks. His gaze drifted down towards their hands as Patrick grabbed his and gingerly laced his fingers between his own. That was an unexpectedâŚ
But nice.
Mike didnât really move his hand. He just let the other hold it as he spoke, listening to his words. Four movies. Four sessions. Mike took a small breath and he raised his brows, âIf you wanted to ask me out, you could have just said that.â He joked, âSure, yeah. Letâs do that.â Mike then nodded as he gave the others hand a squeeze before he released it and walked over towards their guns. Quickly, he unloaded both of the guns and took the remaining bullet out of both of the chambers, slipping those in the box as well. Mike then called forward Patrickâs target and pulled it off. He folded it up and held it out for the other, âA souvenir.â
Grabbing the guns and boxes of bullets, he wandered back up to the front counter and dropped everything off, then turned to exit of the building, âLetâs get you back to the party.â He mentioned with a nod of his head.
It was not exactly how Patrick was planning to spend his namesakeâs day party but he couldnât deny that there was so excitement building from it. It definitely beat walking around exchanging golden coins for a kiss or a touch â or having people offer him coins for a glance of his junk or a chance to get a feel of his body against their own. The personal trainer did love to tease, in the end. To actually get aroused by watching a man shoot a gun was definitely a first but that wasnât necessarily a bad thing. He did like guys with oozing confidence that knew how good they were at doing something and werenât necessarily shy about it. Little by little, step by step⌠Patrick was slowly getting to understand the sort of individual that was Michael Reynolds. And it was fascinating to have a challenge for once. Someone who would keep him on his toes, someone who was definitely going to force him to think twice before speaking. And like every other challenge â Patrick was more than ready for it.
A smile formed on his lips as he realized that Mike didnât do anything to pull his hand back from his own. They remained like that for a little bit, their fingers intertwined and feeling each otherâs warmth due to such a simple â and yet so important â action. âI can be blunt if yeâ wanâ me too, darlinâ.â Patrick wiggled his eyebrows and bite down on his bottom lip, entertained with the concept that Mike would actually agree with dropping by his cabin and go for a John Wick marathon. âWould yeâ said yes if I just came out of the woodworks and asked yeâ out? I mean â I had to hit a target to manage to get to kiss yeâ on the cheek. I wonder what sort of loops and tricks yeâd have me do in order to ask yeâ out.â A clear joke but Patrick did want to present his point. âYerâ only considerinâ it now because we came âere, yeâ had fun and yeâ see Iâm not that bad of a guy. If I just came out to yeâ in the party and asked yeâ out⌠chances âere that yeâd say no.â
But Mike wasnât say no now.
Patrick placed both of his hands behind his back as they walked toward the exit, watching Mike walk around and handle things with such ease that it was almost mindblowing. It made sense. He was so used to shooting ranges that he knew his way around and knew what to do and where to go. And once his own target was delivered to him, Patrick could only chuckle as he accepted it, his blue eyes looking at the places he had hit. All for the chance of kissing Mike on the cheek. âMaybe I should frame this and have it on the wall of my bedroom. I think itâs worth framinâ.â Never before he had to hit a damn target to give a guy a kiss. Again â challenges. âI think Iâm good, darlinâ.â The personal trained folded the target neatly and kept it close to his chest as he walked outside with Mike and cast a quick look toward the party. It would be easy to just go back there. Maybe find someone to deal with the issue inside his shorts but that wasnât exactly on Patrickâs to-do list. âMaybe Iâll just call it a night.â And since he refused to visit Alexander that night, he could very well just return to his cabin and call it a night. âI had fun, yeâ know? Even when yeâ made me hit the damn target for a chance to kiss yerâ cheek.â That was probably the second best part â and watching Mike fire a gun being the top of the top. âHow âbout I text yeâ soon âbout those movies? What I am sayinâ is⌠I am goinâ to ask yeâ out. Yeâ donâ need to answer just yet.â
In a bold move, Patrick leaned closer to Mike and pressed yet another kiss on the very same cheek he had kissed inside the shooting range. Something told him he could have a free-out-of-jail card on that one since he had hit the target before. âTry not to miss me too much while Iâm gone, darlinââŚâ The personal trainer could only grin as he slowly pulled his lips away from Mikeâs cheek in order to yet again, brush them over his earlobe. âHave a good night, sweetheart. I loved yerâ laugh.â With nothing more to say, Patrick took a step back and gave Mike a quick wink before turning on his heels. Perhaps the party was definitely better than he expected. âIâll text yeâ!â And into the night, he went.
